Smart kid not going under it when he was alone and it wasn't on jack stands! Really thinking about what he's doing...that's priceless.
Can see Gage as the high school shop teacher down the road. He’s so patient and encouraging. Plus he seems to sincerely want you to improve
@Laura_Farms1.. no. I don’t talk to spammers on telegram
That young man (Gage) doing the narration on the first project is a natural.
Love seeing today’s youth teaching blue collar skills to adults! I bet Laura never took a welding course in high school or college!! Keep going girl!!
She said it was her first time welding so.
please consider grinding before welding, and a self etching primer. good on welding!!!
I enjoy all of the Laura Farms content. Gauge seems to have a natural ability to speak on camera, narrate and teach.
A helpful hint. Clamp a straight edge on instead of free handing. It’ll help a lot.
This was very kool. ❤
Hey, Laura, glad to see you're gonna be at Matt's Off-Road Recovery Games. That'll be a hoot.
Laura, you should have put small tack or spot welds all around the plate to stop it from lifting and making a gap while you stitch-welded it later.
Good looking welds though.
I enjoy seeing the projects very much. Gage seems like a good man, it was also nice to hear Grant at the end. Y'all are a great team 👏👏👏
Great work working as a team. Gage is a great instructor and you, Laura, acknowledge his instruction by your listening and asking questions.
Favorite thing about this video is Laura's willingness to take instruction from Gage on welding and plasma cutting even though he's still a high school student. I know some people wouldn't do that.
just a little hint for you laura, when cutting with a plasma cutter clamp a piece of angle iron on to make a nice straight cuts it makes it easer to weld a new plate of steel back in.your doing a great job their young lady.
Better to change the grease fitting now and tape it for painting than to chew up a new paint job trying to remove a stuck fitting. The problem with not welding all the way around the plates is water will continue to get under them and rot the metal underneath where you can't treat it.
To get better looking and penetrating welds make sure the metal is cleaned up down to bare metal, no rust or anything. For straight cuts on plasma, use something as a straight edge like angle iron or tubing etc. as a guide for the plasma torch.
Yeah, I'm no expert welder, but you'd definitely want to grind the rust and paint off and get back to bare metal before welding...
Everybody is an expert.
What ever made the hole in the rear of the slasher probably caused the twist in the spline on the pto. Must have been a big whack so would be a good idea to check the gear box foe damage.
That round disc under the main deck is called a stump-jumper and is an option. The purpose of it is to help ride the fixed, and spinning, knife bar over a stump or other obstruction. without this option if the knife drive bar hits a stump, the mower would be violently thrown sideways until the stump is cleared. well worth the extra monies. Keep it installed.
Hi from Ontario Canada love the videos
Do the three phas plug on the other side of the shop instead of cord to be trip by
I like the pink welding marker!😇
i like how u listened to young buck teach you to do stuff - i was told by old 80 year old dairy farmer when i was 10 and im 49 now - HE SAID THAT YOU ALWAYS LISTEN TO EVERYONE - NO MATTER WHAT AGE OR SEX OR ANYTHING - CUZ SOMEONE ALWAYS MIGHT KNOW MORE THAN U - HE SAID THE DAY U THINK U KNOW IT ALL IS GONNA BE ALL DOWN HILL - SO ALWAYS LISTEN TO EACHOTHER - IVE NEVER FORGOTTEN HIS ADVICE
I am going to backseat weld... Did you grind the paint and rust off the old metal before you welded?
I am impressed Welder Laura.
Great seeing young ones working in a shed together
Just found that I was unsubscribed.
Fixed that problem. Your farm hand did a great job solo handling the camera and explaning what he was doing. Have him do more. Love watching the journey.
There is something very satisfying and nostalgic about watching you weld….i loved watching my Daddy make and repair things. He could do anything he put his efforts into! 😊❤️
Because my support arm bent on my brush mower.
I cut the support arms and I drilled holes in them put chain in place of the support I cut out.
Works great and I can use my quick hitch now.
I'm glad you were actually working on this.
Yeah, that bend in the wheel bracket if at the right angle to force the wheel into a trailing position to make it steer correctly. ❤ you guys and your channel. 😁
Great job .😁 don't ferget to sharper the blades and replace the seal on the gear box .
Lookin good guys awesome job
It is good to see Pepper supervise the project.
Grease fitting = Alemite,Laura is great,Hard worker and a Quick Study:-)
Good Work
You two have a great shop - very critical to a farming operation
i must agree to what other already have say Gage is a really good instructor nice see you all work together
I TOTALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO LAURA AND GRANT 😊
Need an 'Air Scaler' and an "Angle grinder". Heat works good on those stuck grease fittings, can also get a hammer activated grease fitting (ala Grease Buster) to get them loose. While you have it up in the air... might as well clean up and grease the wheels. Check the drive shaft for the fales carefully... sometimes they wear out. Weld some 1/2" short chains on the back side of the deck, keeps it from throwing stuff out the back. Grease it and pressure wash it after using... it will last 50 years.
I like the Gabe part, also he is a good teacher!
Those fast-forward sections with that selection of music is part of your brand. Never stop doing it. It is golden!!
I'm a retired pipe welder at Upjohn/Pfizer in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Great job with the wire welder especially for first attempt.
You should consider a welders cap (maybe have some LauraFarms branded ones made). Those sparks will burn your scalp and give you little bald spots...
Back in the 90's (1990-1997) I worked for an orchardist here in Central Washington and I rebuilt the Brush Hog mower they had. It was much larger than that one, it had 3 sets of blades with 3 gear boxes and 2 bogie wheels on the back. It too had major deck issues which I rebuilt using plates of T1 steel which is specific for high impact areas and I plated over the whole deck with the T1. I also rebuilt all 3 gear boxes with all new bearings, races and seals All in all the mower was virtually like new when I was done with it.
Gage sure knows a lot about machinery, welding, etc. for as young as he is. Must have had a good teacher.
So cool gage is teaching you ... this builds friendship and bonds of mutilual hard work that can never be broken
Great video nice work welding there Laura, there is nothing that you can't do
I love your CAD work! Cardboard Aided Design works well!
Well I had to go out back and see if my bush hog was still out there.... Looks just like it. Send Gage over to fix mine too!!
Love to watch all y'all at work. Howdy from South East Texas!!!
You have popped up on my Facebook many times. Good luck at the offroad games. I have a lot of respect for Rory.
nice weilds Laura
You are a fast learner and Gage is good teacher.
Gage is a natural!
can't wait to see you at the off road games!
You should make this into a series, because how many cheap thing you are restoring to use at the farm.
Thanks for the recent video, your persistent hard work shines through, leaving a positive impact.
good job on the welding and cutting!
Great to watch your videos again....stay safe and god bless
you can get nice extension cords from a welding supply company. you can get them in 25' 50' and 100' lengths. really helpful. I use them all the time in my shop to get the welder anywhere in the building
awesome video like always
The National Farm and Machinery show is happening in Louisville, Ky 2/14-2/17. Hope you and Grant can make it out this year if you're not too busy!
More restoration work being done. The winter months do give you the opportunity to get jobs done like that.
Love from Mike. ❤
Brush hogs are great for reducing the spread of weed and sampling control. Great piece of multi use machinery. Man this is a long winter.
Gage is a good lad.
It is so impressive that all of You at Laura Farms are stepping up and getting your hands dirty to carry on one the profession that built this country Especially at your age
Your welding is coming right along, keep it up.
Laura and Grant. You kids need to find you an old rogator. Take the tank off and all the components that go with it. Turn it into a flatbed put a boom and winch on it also a big toolbox. That way you can keep all your supplies that you need when you guys go out and fix pivots and you won't struggle so much when you go work on them. When your crops are up pretty tall. Keep up the good work all your kids are doing a wonderful job and God bless you💪🇺🇸👍🤗
What an AWESOME Experience and On-the-Job training Gage is getting and ultimately training you Laura. Nice to see a young person doing so many jobs well!!! Keep up the great work Laura, Grant and Gage!!!!!
Is Gage a sibling? cousin? nephew?
brother I think...@@blurfs3763
@@blurfs3763 Gage is their loyal, hardworking "hired hand".
@@blurfs3763 Gage is a high school student who Laura and Grant hired to help out.
nice to see a young person doing jobs period
Warming up out here in Texas - hope it eases up a little in Nebraska!
Go to an RV center, if your local weld shop doesn't have a longer cord in stock. Easy peasy
Hi Laura,Grant & Gage thanks for the video nice seeing you all keep up the good work & videos take care
I'm glad Laura has the time and money to fix this unit up! But, if you truly are starting from scratch that would easily run another 10 years as long as you keep the gearbox lubed.
Good morning Laura farms, learning something new.
Can't wait for the offroad games. Rory from Trail Mater is the G.O.A.T. and ya'll will have a blast! And win!!!!
Yay Laura! I love these shop vids! Without giving it away, I think I have an idea of what you 2 are up to with the new 2 you farm kit...just a hunch, anyways.
Boy, if everyone else is like me we miss you guys terribly after a week goes by. I know I'm not alone in this, but even a video of breakfast at the Wilson's would be cool beans. Or chili with beans, going to the DMV for sporty licence plates! I really don't think anyone would complain.
Ok, I'm spoiled! We want more Laura Farms!!!❤❤❤😂😂😂😊
I really love how you all learn from each other and how well you all work together.
Not sure who's luckier. You and Grant for finding Gage or Gage for finding you two. Doesn't really matter because it's fun to watch!
I am eagerly waiting for you and your video. Please upload the video soon. Thank you.❤❤❤
You want to clean metal surfaces more 😊.keep living the dream.
Love that they show you how to make repairs. On the job training!! Go Laura!!
Would be a good idea to remove as much rust as you can and paint it with some kind of rust proof paint to keep it from further rusting. Also clean debris off the top when not in use.
Gage is a good welding instructor that has you stacking dimes like a pro. I see he is also teaching you CAD (Cardboard Aided Design). Did you keep any of Pepper's little rodent controllers? 🐱
Happy you are going to Utah in March and Rory is spotting for you. Enjoy Sand Hollow.
Looks like an adventure! Thanks guys for sharing your life with us... interesting stuff!😊
Laura, I have a SE7 that is use 2-3 times a year and it is a beast! Very strong and works really well. Mine is a 540 PTO so not super-fast but real durable. Honestly yours is in better shape than mine. Word of advise, I have noticed that the 3-point pins and the bolts tends to come loose so be sure to throw some Loctite and lock washers on it.
Wow! Paired up with Rory at Matt’s Off Road Recovery Games, the best off road driver/spotter in the vehicle that won 24 Hours THAB. You two make a formidable team. I am looking forward to the games.
I love to watch others repair old equipment and make it great again. May not be as great as it was coming from the factory, but most of the time the equipment is just as good as it was brand new or even better. You two and your little “Mini Me” absolutely make my day.
Well done Laura, the life is a long learning.
Nice welds towards the end! Good job!
Good to see you working on projects like that. There is a lot of equipment out there that can be brought back to life with a little work. Try using a straight edge when you are cutting, makes the patching much easier, and mig does not like dirt and debris so a quick pass with the grinder will make your welds better.
Laura!!! Before you weld you need to remove any nail polish because it can turn your nails black. You also need to cover your hair because hair is extremely flammable. But good job on the welds. And good job Gage he is a great Teacher. Keep up the good work of making videos!!!
Gotta love good natured people.
Laura, just seen your teaming with Trailmater. Great guy to team with. Others might have put y’all in but I put in you and Grant so glad your in the games.
You did clean the metal under that plate of steel you just welded on, or primed it so that it would not rust.
Laura thanks for the video and the hard work put into them. One side note that is a single phase plug the welder is connect to not 3 phase.
That precision cardboard pattern reminds me of a saying from working at Learjet “Design with CAD, measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, and cut with a torch.”
I work in Mfg. and our saying is beat to fit paint to match. 😂 I like yours also. lol
We are proud of you Laura! Keep learning new skills to take care of the farm & your equipment!
His daddy did a great job teaching him how to repair, weld and repair equipment. He is definitely a keeper. Give him a raise
I'm new to your channel and have been enjoying them. Cole the Cornstar has some competition in Nebraska. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Hey Laura, awesome video. Hope you keep making them I love the new series thing that you’re doing
