I'm 72 years old, I was sitting in my recliner watching this video. I strained so hard helping you push that blade up, I think I pulled a couple of muscles.
I’m 72 also. We always took the shredder off the tractor and we had 2 chain hoists and we would stand it up and work on it standing up and never had to get under it. Before I saw that they were hooked up to their chain hoist I was sitting in my recliner and screaming get out from under that thing before it falls on you. 😅
Rule: Never rely on one source to secure that much weight. Always use additional ground supports as well. Our machinery weighted as much as 20 tons and when disassembly for repair sections could weight 400 to 800 pounds. We lost one of our field mechanics due to a chain that should have held it, but in manufacturing of the chain, there was one bad link. I'll leave the rest up to your imagination.
When I worked in a quarry years ago, we kept a pile of railroad ties and half-length ties just for cases like this. Crisscross stacks for safety stops in case hydraulics failed or chains/cables popped.
Laura, you are loved by thousands of people primarily your subscribers. I am one of them, and I am glad and proud to be on your channel as a subscriber.
You two are an amazing young couple! I'm glad you're living your best UA-cam life & experiencing so much at such a tender, young age. Live it to the fullest!
There is always something to fix, clean, maintain, plant, even in the 'off season'. It is never ending. Thank you for taking us along. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Always a pleasure watching. Looks like you need a couple of floor jacks, to nearly place the blade. Spring dreamin'! Looking forward to your 2024 plans!
Thank you Grant, Laura and Gage once again. Use what you have on hand to accomplish the task of never ending farm work!!! Ans thanks again for helping us to see that not all young people are afraid of hard work!!!
Hi Laura, I have been watching your videos since you first started posting on YT. I have enjoyed each and every one of them and watching you grow as a person and farmer. You are such an intelligent, creative, hard-working woman I have ever seen, and you have enlightened so many people on Nebraska farming and everyday living on a large farm. I would like to wish you and Grant and both of your families a very Merry Christmas and I hope your granddad is having a lovely Christmas in Heaven with God.
It's always satisfying to get a back burner project done. I am finishing up one that I kept attempting off and on for over a year and finally figured it out.
Been there, done that. Best thing is to lift the mower up on edge. Don't have to work upside down then... that is really helpful if you are doing it by yourself.
And, I'd be interested in a Laura Farms t-shirt, but I prefer a photography-landscape view. Maybe one of those gorgeous farm sunsets; or, corn drying in early morning yawn; or, late night farming drone view! Look forward to seeing your line expand.
Just wanted to wish you, Grant, Justin, and your whole Families, a Blessed and Merry Christmas. Really enjoy you adventure on the farm. In fact I am learning stuff I never knew!
I love the hard work that you and Grant do. You probably know this living in Nebraska, but they do make a synthetic grease. it will last longer on your gears, and is more effective in cold temperatures. ❤ Love you mean it.
I love to see Gauge involved in the shop work. The skills learned here in the shop from those with years of experience is worth more than years in the classroom. Not that classroom time isn’t important, but hands on always reinforces the classroom/books. Also, I would have tried a floorjack with some wood blocking to help lift up that blade assembly. Thanks for another great video and Merry Christmas to y’all and your families.
Thanks for putting out great series of videos.. You, Gage and Grant make a great team... Always keepin it real. The beautiful plains of Nebraska and your farmland are in great shape. Come on out to Eastern North Carolina where farming is a main stay as well!
Good afternoon Sunshine! It's great to see you and Grant again. It's been raining here for two days also. I'm glad you got everything rebuilt and reassembled without any injuries. Wishing you, Grant, Gage and your respective families a very Merry Christmas as you gather to celebrate and honor His birth. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
A slow steady rain is VERY good for the ground in the fields! Not so much for the ground on the roads and drive yards. A slow steady rain allows the water to penetrate the soil without runoff, erosion and washout. But it creates a soggy, muddy “mess” in the top layers of the ground. And the longer the drizzle rain persists, the deeper the soft mud gets. To the point that roads can become impassable to anything but “animal” locomotion. Enjoy the nice and wonderful [off-season] farming weather.
Merry Christmas to you Laura and Grant...with it having the smaller PTO connection... Its made for a smaller tractor.,you've got more power with your tractor then you need...that is why it went out........ Any way have a Merry Christmas ...still keeping your whole family in my prayers...and thoughts to find the peace you all need...finding things to do around a farm never ends...i know ...
Looking good on the box blade rebuild. Just one suggestion. When you want to heat metal, use the proper tip. You was using the cutting tip, not the rosebud.
I’m listening to my beautiful granddaughter talk about how it’s all done…and then realizing you actually know what you’re talking about! Holy cow, you have learned and retained more info in the last 5 years than I did in 12 years at school! 😮 Tiny Farmer, you are amazing 🤩 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you and Grant and the whole family you have a great hired helper there Merry Christmas and happy new year to him also God Bless you and your family looking forward to the upcoming planting videos
It sounds kind of goofy but that big round thing that the Cutter Blades are on that mounts to the Gear Box is called a Dish Pan. The bolts that hold the blades on are meant to protect the whole Cutter (mower) Assembly. The bolts are meant to let tge blades swing freely so that if you hit something hard they will let the cutter blade swing around the bolt lessening the impact on the gear box and the PTO for the Cutter. That old Gear Box Output Shaft must have had a hairline fracture from long ago and it just finished breaking last year. It is Important that the Cutter Blade Bolts do let the Blades swing freely. If they don't they need to be replaced. It cost much less to replace a bolt than a shaft, dush oan, gear box... $15 vs $250.
@@python3574 I worked at a company that makes rotary cutters and they called it a dish pan. There were competitors that also called it a dish pan, and others that called it other names. Some called it by the purpose that it served, others by the shape that it has. Either way, as long as we all know what we're talking about.
Merry Christmas and the best wishes for 2024 , Laura and Grant ,and your family's , and Gage of course , hope we can enjoy lots more video's from you in the new year , they are entertaining and educational in one , a joy to watch ! Greetings from Belgium Europe ,and a hug for Pepper !
I was shaking my head and laughing as I watched the three of you trying to lift that heavy blade assembly up to connect it to the shaft. I couldn't believe that just a few feet away you had the perfect tool for that job with the existence of that floor jack. You possibly would have needed to place some blocking on that floor jack and maybe lowered the mower a bit but that floor jack would have made things incredibly easier. But I must say that it was so good seeing that chain hoist put to good use in case of a hydraulic failure, good job. Edit: As an after thought, if that mower is still in good mechanical shape, I would consider keeping it. Often, a very large mower is just too big to get into smaller spaces that you might really like to mow.
It is always awkward working on your back, it is hard trying to get the fitting started at the same time. Happy Christmas to you all, love from Mike. ❤ 🌲
Laura, we bought a John Deere CX15 15' batwing brand new in 2016. 540 PTO, laminated tires, and air ride suspension. It probably gets 50-75 hours a year on average. We have been very satisfied with it, hasn't given us any trouble. I don't believe the CX series is still made, I believe the labeling has changed so i'm not sure what the current equivalent model would be. I run it with either a 2940 or 6310 both are 80 hp. A little short on power when clearing brush but you can move right a long when clipping pastures. I'm sure the 7810 or any of your larger tractors would be a perfect match for one. The air bags have always leaked off after a few days, from what I've heard it's pretty common. A bit annoying but it doesn't take long to top them off when greasing prior to heading to the field. I really like that it has a jack stand fixed to the tongue and you don't need to crank a jack to hook/unhook. Merry Christmas to you , your family and Gage!
Its nice to see that you are planting trees, in 10years they will hopefully be big enough to break the wind and beautify your farm yard. Probably a good call trading in that old bush hog it looks like it has seen better days! Blessings & Merry Christmas to all of you in Nebraska!
I'm 72 years old, I was sitting in my recliner watching this video. I strained so hard helping you push that blade up, I think I pulled a couple of muscles.
Lol, I'm 73, also in my recliner. I was helping too! 😅
72. I was twisting really hard trying to push
71; I was wondering why they aren’t using a floor jack.
I don't think they could've done it with out us geezers helping.@@Captain-Max

I have one of those and as I recall the manual says to put jack stands under it before working underneath.
Merry Christmas. Enjoy your videos.

A pleasure stopping in for a visit. Thanks for having me. I hope the weather is kind to you.
Merry Christmas guys! Thanks for the smiles.
You two are an amazing young couple! I'm glad you're living your best UA-cam life & experiencing so much at such a tender, young age. Live it to the fullest!
Thanks for showing the hoist - I had missed that and was concerned for Grant! :) x
Merry Christmas to all of you
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!! Thanks Laura!

Almost always something new to learn about watching you guys! Funsville! Dream work makes the team work!😊
Thanks for sharing!
Put Jack stands under that deck please !
I wish you wouldn’t get under a load like that without blocking it up first.
Hope you and your families have a very Merry Christmas!!!
Nice watching your Mechanic simulator for a few episodes.
Been there, done that. Best thing is to lift the mower up on edge.

Merry Christmas to you and Grant! Christmas will be different this year, but focus on the good memories and not the loss.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Laura, not forgetting Pepper and any littles one you still have.
Merry Christmas from Texas. Thank you for a wonderful viewing year
Your video brought back a memory of doing the same repair on a John Deere brush hog at work. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Now I know what those big Frisbee-looking things are when I'm loading trailers at UPS. Have a great Christmas!
Good call supporting the mower with the chain. Murphys law requires it😊
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the hard working Laura Farms family.
You can do anything you put your heart to.. you also need a jack to keep parts up while you wait. :) for the bolts to get put in. - nice work..
one of those transmission jacks if no thing else... or ''someplace to start the search'' ?? :) just a thought...
I'm wishing you Grant and your families a happy Christmas.
Shop work goes so much better with a smile and a laugh and of course more help
Laura you hurt by pushing that up reminds me of my stuff

But they are trading in off
Still a tip for their new cutter
Need a rolling floor jack with arms to lift that piece into place.
