Hi Cynthia, thank you, this site is an archaeological site and has produced so many artefacts and coins over the years with a spread of bronze age through to modern, amazing site altogether. Thanks for watching and talking the time to comment, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Kennon, thank you, it's the ring that fascinates me, the possibility that it could be 3000 years old and I was the first person to touch it in all that time, incredible. Thanks for watching and commenting, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Ian, judging by your finds you had a great day, those coin just kept coming and at firs sight i thought the floral lead brooch was a splattered musket ball. Great video mate 👌👍Tony
Hi Tony, thanks, mate, yes, really was a cracking afternoon, TBH, I didn't realise what the brooch was until after I'd cleaned it a little, great find though. All the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
@@Janhyooz 😁it’s all good here Ian thx Hel’s fine, we’re still out and about had some great days and found some good stuff lots of scrap too tho 😂, hopefully out this weekend. Hope everyone is well and keep the vids coming 😁😉 xx
Not very often you get permission to detect on Sites like this? Just imagine what could be Deep Down at Roman Levels? Anyway Great finds Ian , any American 's watching can only Dream of finds like these ,nearly Two Thousand years of History in Cumbria, imagine the Roman Soldier coming to the Bath house after doing his Stint on Hadrians Wall (nearby) what a story these finds could tell? Best of Luck
Hi Baz, you're right, permissions like this are very few and far between, but I've been very lucky in that regard. In fact, I have detected down at the Roman levels over the last few years, as the excavations have taken place and the videos of these digs are on this channel, the finds are telling a major story of Carlisle's history and there is a big exhibition of some of these finds at Tullie House museum in the city from the 24th September. Thanks for watching, mate, and taking the time to comment, all the best to you, GL&HH, Ian.
Hi Mark, there don't seem to be many group digs around here, the only one I'm aware of is the Rotary Club rally but that's already been and gone for this year. Maybe try and contact someone through the Facebook page 'detecting in Cumbria' someone there may know of something. ATB, Ian.
@@Janhyooz yeah I managed to get to the rotary club dig this year not much come up this time I don’t think there is any tbh mate I’ve looked everywhere!🙈 just want my first Roman!😂
@markjohnnojohnson5352 OK we may have bumped into each other there, I did not too bad, had enough to put a video up anyway, I do know there were a fair few hammies found, both before and after they exploded the bomb. There is a club down at Milnthorpe (Kendal Detecting Club), and I believe they do weekly club digs. Other than that, nothing. If I do hear of anything, I'll send you a msg. ATB Ian.
Hi, Yes, I would normally have detected the spoil heaps all through the excavation, but I was committed to another archaeological site for English Heritage, I did several days here and came up with coins and brooches but there were many other detectorists on the small site, guess they weren't as thorough as I'd been in the past. All the best, GL&HH, Ian.
Once again, I am blown away by your fabulous finds, Ian! From Roman through medieval, all the way to the WW2 years, truly a great day of finds!❤

Hi Trev, thanks very much, mate, appreciate the comment and glad you're still enjoying the videos, all the best to you and your wife, GL&HH, Ian.

During the excavation did they not check the spoil for finds because you seem to be finding some lovely stuff that they missed.
