There actually was a "battle" of sorts during the Civil War. It's called the St. Albans Raid. A bunch of escaped Confederate POWs organized in Canada and raided the town of St. Albans before escaping to Canada again
That wood stove door is so cool! If nothing else, I would keep it, clean it up, and find a fantastic way to display it. I think you can probably season it like cast iron pans. Put it in a frame the size it would have been if not for the broken corners, and put a color in the background that complements the room it is in. Very cool!
The picture frame is a typical frame insert for a gutta percha picture frame Held a tintype or daguerreotype. The hard rubber/gutta percha doesn't hold up well. Nice find!
St. Albans , VT was the site of the northern most skirmish of the Civil War. Confederate forces attacked the town and robbed a bank or banks and escaped to Canada. They were captured and put on trial. The rest is history. Thanks for another great video.
I was thinking wait a minute, Morgan's Raiders had the Northern most battle in Columbiana County Ohio. After doing some research, I would have to say that St. Albans counts in my book. The really interesting part is that Confederate soldier Bennett H. Young took part in both conflicts. I live very close to where Morgan was captured. A friend of mine has found a Union buckle near the old jail in Lisbon, Ohio. I have to wonder if that's where they took the Confederate prisoners, and a guard lost his buckle. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Albans_Raid
Chris has a great time hunting with you; he's getting so many bucket listers that he must be in detectorist heaven ☺ Congrats to both of you for each finding 2 large coppers!! The flower basket gilded button is a really cool surprise find for you 👍 plenty of great relics on this hunt. Excellent video as always Brad!! Where is Eddie 🤷
Loving the drone shots mixed in! Interesting finds as usual, I really like the everyday items like buttons and picture frames. Curious about how you preserve the coins? Just learned they flake as they dry ? Maybe make a preservation video this winter?
I just saw that the music I've been enjoying is yours, Brad! If you put out a CD, please say so! Also, Chris' excitement when he found that coin at 12:15 is so much fun! That button has a basket of flowers on it, which is probably what Becca told you!
100k viewers coming up on you. I'm jealous you sweep alot of old sites. You have done your homework & deserve all of it. Have a few farmers written down who have old stone foundations on thier property. I'm all over NW VT! Love watching your videos!!!!
Thanks Brad and Chris for letting us come along on the adventure with you. Always look forward to what you will find next and I enjoy the music and video shots. Mike in hot, wet and mostly sunny Florida
Thanks again for sharing another Discovery Friday morning walk through the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont .. Each GMMD video is always enjoyable and educational.
Great very again Brad, good to see Chris as well, I'm so looking forward to detecting again it's been awhile. Loved the drone footage, maybe do a video looking for home sites with it, well those were some great coins there, I can still remember loosing coins when I was a kid and knowing I wouldn't get any candy at the store. It was tough growing up poor but I learned working for money cured that. Take care.👍❤🇺🇸
We took a family metal detecting trip to the park and found a really old coin spill under a tree. This channel is great cant wait to see more. Subscribed!
Thank you for making my bad day much brighter. I spent several hours this morning in my local ER because of a bicycle accident & needed the smile I get from watching your videos.
Great video as always Brad. Thanks. It's cool that your buddy Chris is adventuring with you now. But...what I and I'm sure the entire world is wondering is..." Drum roll ". Where's Eddy ?!?! Thanks again for sharing your hobby. I go out and look for dump's and old cork tops, haven't gotten into metal detecting yet. 👍✌️
@@kayesdigginit1519 I know. One of the last videos they did was up by me, looking for the treasure. I miss Eddy's humor. Have a great day and thanks for responding. Stay safe 👍🙏✌️
Good Afternoon Brad...Oh...what fine, rich music at the start...well, all of it...Thank you for sharing it with us...And thank you for another fine video..
Your videos are wonderful I have been watching for a while now. Its really cool to hold something in your hand thats that old and if people have never found anything they don't understand. Your music that you use is awesome and very fitting. Keep swinging and digging. God Bless you and your family.
The farthest northeast my Avery ancestors got was New Hampshire but I feel a little closer to knowing what their life was like in the early to mid 1800's. Your channel is one of my favorites
Thanks, I sure miss Detecting! One trick I learned was to never shut my machine off when walking to or from the car. I've found some real nice Silver coins that way. Cheers...
Thank you for the adventure and seeing some nice finds ! Take care , stay safe and healthy wherever your next adventure takes you ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Good morning Brad and Chris, pretty good day for the two of you. Enjoyed watching the video . Great as always Brad. Chris is a welcome addition when he go with you. Till next time, Joyce, Connecticut 🇺🇸. ARROW*🎱. ❤️
Hello, Brad. This morning I watched the episode where you and Eddie found a large collection of really big foundations and wall, that stretched on, in quite a big area. You were looking for a cemetery in a state park. Did you ever find out what was there? I found it fascinating. Thanks for your videos. I'm a huge fan!
Hi Brad & Chris, so many cool finds, I loved that little bouquet button it was so pretty. Brad are you able to make a slightly longer video as I would love to see when you find each item rather than a roundup at the end. Thank you for taking us along on the hunt, much love. xx💖
That was a lot of great finds!!! I loved the door to wood stove and Chris's to a chest.i hope they clean up nicely! Great! Coins, military buttons are awesome!😁
Good video as always... I like the military button and old coins but the jacksonion button is a good collectable button as well... I got the skinny eagle military looking button and red stag one.. good save on the relics
Good morning Brad and Chris !! Some great finds today. I'm in agreement with you about the picture frame. It's too bad the rest wasn't there. That would have been awesome to find intact . STAY SAFE both of you !!
I appreciate the time you take to give us the cinematic footage. I'm only just starting to dabble with it for my own UA-cam hunts, it certainly takes a while to compile! Great day out.. happy hunting. :)
Another great hunt, Chris certainly enjoying himself - might have to watch for strange critters scratching in the woods, might be a turkey, meybe a deer, elk, sasquatch? (Do you have elk in Vermont?) Keep safe & happy fossicking..👍⛏🦘🐾😎.

Its rumored that the confederates had secret meetings in Montreal Quebec not far from the Vermont border.
