Lots of unposed photos, here and elsewhere, show Don and Phil interacting happily, joking, chatting… yet all we seem to hear about is how they didn’t get on. Maybe the truth is that like so many siblings, they had an on/off relationship over the years, with a sustained period of not talking for 10 years of course. Yet when Phil died in 2014, Don said he had always loved his brother and thought of him every day even when they weren’t talking. Perhaps it was too much to expect they would always get on well, when they were literally living in each other’s pockets for so many years.
