Phil is unbelievably adorable....esp when he smiles. This is a new for me. Everytime I think I've heard everything they've sung...I find a new one I haven't heard.
They touched us so deeply...we fell in love with their music and with them. Such good influences on our youth. Always gentlemen; served their country...never got into trouble. When Phil passed I wept like I had lost family and my big brother did too...In our 60ties. God bless them. Don please stay healthy!
I just discovered the Everly Brothers - mind blown! You can hear them in all the British invasion music and so much early rock n roll. I had no idea. They are really amazing.
Enjoy the ride! It´s gonna be a crazy one, there is a lot to discover, from the earliest recorded radio shows of the late 40´s to Don Everlys last public appearance in 2019 whre he recieved the iconic riff award for wake up little suzie. A career that spans around 60 years. You´ll love it! I can especially recommend the material they recorded in the 1980´s.
Love this rendition of "Dream" and "Stories. They had the ability to reach back and touch your heart at the same time. Love their music and miss Phil Everly more than ever.
Funny how they sing this song from the point of view of them dreaming of a love but in reality it was all the girls and women who were dreaming of Phil and Don. I was one of those girls. R.I.H. Phil and Don. Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤
The most gorgeous harmonies ever. But wow - Don’s deep voice is incredibly sexy. And it doesn’t hurt that he looks unbearably gorgeous… raises my oxytocin levels every time (that’s the love hormone!)
I love watching them in concerts and interviews, they were great together, the way they look at each other when they are singing makes u think that they are reading each other mind. Especialy little brother phil, always few glances to his older brother. There is special bound between these 2 brothers it shows when they are on stage singing. Thanks for sharing.
Sarah Saydee Don was the lead singer, more or less, so it was Phil’s responsibility to follow his cues, match his timing, etc. That’s why Phil’s always got an eye on Don. But if you see any of their post-reunion clips, they both look at each other a lot more than they did when they were younger. It’s nice to see them smiling at each other in this.
That bond was when they were younger since they couldn't stand each other all most all of their adult life. They try not showing it for their audience.
Look how beautiful they were back then. I have always felt a kinship with Don, as I was born on his eleventh birthday!! Ha ha. Wish I could have thanked them for all they did for us. Miss Phil, greatful Don is hanging tough!! Love Bancy
beautifully done whatever what a couple what up Brotherly Love there is there I love how Phil looks at his big brother and for approvement it is so great I just adore their music and anything they do is wonderful God bless
Great to hear them doing 'Stories We Could Tell'. I think it's a tragedy that The Everlys were always forced to perform their 50's/early 60's hits whenever they appeared on tv (even though it was classic stuff). They carried on making great music but nobody seemed willing to listen. No wonder they fell out and split up - how many times can you play All I Have To Do Is Dream or Bye Bye Love before it eventually drives you a little crazy?
I know. I wonder also. I could listen to them for eons but it surely must have driven them nuts to play the same songs over and over. That's a lot of years but they carried on and sounded just fine.
A Martin D-28. Classical shaped body and open headstock. The only Martin he ever owned. The last guitars they played were built by luthier Bob Steinegger.
Differences aside, they managed to sing a wonderful program here. Sometimes they rush through a song, or so it seems, but here they have a perfect flow & so natural as if in no hurry at all. Love this video🤗
Midnight Special came on Friday nights on NBC after the late news. I believe it started in '72, and it was a great music show with all live performances. Wolfman Jack hosted a lot, and the theme song was Johnny Rivers' "Midnight Special."
Well, as you probably know, by 1970, commercial sucess really started to drop down tremendously and tensions between the brothers were rising. A little less than a year after this performance they split up, and it was one of the messiest brakeups in music history unfortunately. Let byegones be byegones, the reunited twice, very sucessfully in London in 1983 and in finally in heaven in 2021.
Makes me mad. I bought the Midnight Special DVDs and wouldn't you know it they didn't put this on them. But they did put that idiot Ted Nugent on them. Disgusting.
I´d be pissed! The only thing that´s interesting me in this midnight specials episode are the Everly Brothers, John Denver and Cass Elliot. Miss one out, screw that DVD!
@@karenkelly6785 - Popular not-quite-myth that many celebrities have been cloned (including Dave Chapelle). But the Everlys were a little early for that trend. They remained authentically themselves for the rest of their lives (although there are a few videos in which Don forms Luciferian/Freemason hand gestures while Phil either doesn't notice or is completely clueless.)

Don and Phil look very handsome and sound great. So sad they were under appreciated, overworked, and about to breakup in less than a year.
Always Loved them , playing their 45’s over and over again during 1958-1962 high school years and beyond. I still have my 45’s 😊
Dedicated this to my girlfriend. I was 12. Only 65 years ago.
und da heisst es immer....in fünfzig Jahren ist alles vorbei.😅

Never tire of listening to these guys.
I clearly remember that billboard on Sunset that John Denver mentions...I had just arrived in L.A., myself, ...
Truly wonderful!
Very special video. Thank you for sharing! ✨

As I said …Everly Brothers are forever!!!
Together again 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Song still sound so good.
Interesting to see Don playing a guitar other than the usual “trademark” black Gibson Everly guitar.

I think stories is one of the best songs they ever did! And, of course, they did so many awesome songs!!! But I really do love stories.
Love this, they look great and sound fantastic, love it when they are singing live
Awesome ❤❤

God, Don‘s voice does things to me. Amazing❣️❣️❣️
Just LOVE THIS VIDEO...I remember watching this originally and trying to soak up every smidgen of detail to remember!

I think this is only time i've seen when they didnt use matching guitars.
That could be symbolic. Seperate guitars foreshadowing them going their separate ways less than a year later.
Love to see them smile at each other.

Second song by John Sebastian.
And just in case you didn't know, they were both United States Marines!
I think the title is wrong as it says Midnight Special but isn’t that John Denver? Maybe he had a special?
The show is Midnight Special. Denver was guest host.

It is John Denver 👍
in the presence of such greatness and beautiful voices why do we have the monotonous obnoxious snare drum. same whack whack whack verse and chorus
