I had the pleasure of working with Rick Nelson for his last appearance in Toronto at The Forum Ontario Place Toronto Ontario Canada. It was the 1984 or 1985 season. I grew up listening to my parent's collection of Rick Nelson records.
I started listening to his music back in 2019 when I was 15 or 16 when I watched a Netflix series called The end of the f-ing world where they used his song Lonesome Town. I was instantly hooked! I also have a huge crush on him. I’m almost 21 now and still vibing to his music 💗
My wife and I are musicians that entertain in assisted living and nursing homes. We do some of these very songs !!! We had the privilege of seeing his sons in concert and personally meeting them afterwards.
Rick(y) Nelsons parents had a number one hit in 1935 with a song " And then Some ". His father fronted his own band Ozzie Nelson & his Orchestra. His mother was the featured singer in the band. Ricky had number one's with 'Poor little Fool" and "Travelin' Man' . His twin sons Matthew and Gunner had a number one in 1990 with a song ( Can't live without your ) Love and Affection. That therefore makes the Nelson family - I think - the only family in history to have number one hits over three generations. I am now 82 and he was my idol back in the day even more so than Elvis. Personally I see a striking similarity facially between the two especially around the eyes and mouth. However, what great music back in that era more than 60 years ago. He died in 1985 at the age of 45. Its really a shame that he died so young. IMO he was the epitome of good looks. It's hard not to stare at his gorgeous face in this vid.
This boy, Ricky Nelson, was a peach, the kind any parent would want for a son-in-law. Clean cut and very handsome, he came from a top family who had their own TV show during the 50's, in which Ricky and his older brother David featured. As an 11-year old boy, he made his film debut in 'The story of three loves' in 1951 starring Kirk Douglas, Pier Angeli and Leslie Caron. He began his singing career sometime in the 2nd half of the 50's and was a rage with all the boys and girls growing up during that era, who hummed his tunes and used their vocals singing Ricky's hits at local amateurs. In 1960, as a young adult, he made his debut in "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne, Dean Martin and Angie Dickinson. His fame did not wane during the 60's and he charmed his listeners with one hit after another. Sadly, Ricky's life was snuffed out in a plane crash that left his family, his wife and kids and all his fans, worldwide, stunned. Ricky Nelson is still popular and loved even to this day.
How lovely to see Ricky Nelson after all these years for me - beautiful voice and so handsome. I'm going back to my school days quite a long time ago! So, so so sorry - I didn't know about the terrible plane crash which took his life so tragically - very sorry. But may his beautiful songs continue to be played. ❤l
Yes, me too. I started watching him on The Ozzie and Harriet Show way back when (late 50s). As a pre-teen I wrote him a letter telling him how much I liked him, and I wanted to send it to him. But my older brother found it and teased me scornfully and mercilessly about it. Needless to say, it was never sent to him.
They said he was on his way to surpassing Elvis had he lived longer. What a special voice and he had a neat way about him. Poor Little Fool was my favorite.
He’s so cute, and with that soft dreamy voice- Ricky Nelson is too beautiful to be true. There’s so many favorite songs of mine on here. Truly enjoy this compilation. Your work is appreciated. Thank you.
There are lots of great memories right there . Love Ricky, he had a great voice, and I loved his songs. Another great talent is gone too soon. RIP 🙏 You will always be in our hearts❤🎸🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️
I listened to Rick on the radio, record player. TV and sang his songs while on a tractor. One of the best recording artists of all time ❤ !!! Thanks Pete. Rick was good at country music too. He had album cuts that were great too.
Thanks for furnishing details on great musicians old/new. You have a wide spectrum on professional Artists ,very interesting to capture highlights!! This one is sexy...🎉😅😊❤
According to his older brother and hit sons, Rick never used any harmful drugs. So, you can forget about Rick dying of a drug problem. He didn't use heroine or cocaine.
Anyway he didn't die from drugs, he was killed in a crash landing of a plane. I believe he couldn't get out as the plane caught on fire. Terrible way to go.
I was born in the 50s listened to alot of music on a small record player. There were 6 of us sitting on the floor like little Indians that we were. Ages ranged from 8 down to wee baby brother on my lap. We sang waving our arms in ryrhem to the music. We werent glued to the tv or cell phones. Mom didnt allow tv on until after dinner and chores finished. I am happy to have had these beautiful voices and many country artists to listen to. Tv consisted of shows such as Bonanza, sky king, micky mouse club, romper room, captain kangeroo, my friend Flicka. Many more too long to list. A much more relaxed family affair than what today's children are accustomed to. Thank you for allowing me to tell you some of my childhood
Special memories growing up in a neighborhood where we knew just about everyone on the block, played outside sometimes till dark, got our drinks from garden hoses, and nobody locked their doors. I guess you had to be there to realize how special it was. My best friends are my neighbors from when we were 4, 5, and 7 yrs. old.
@@gcm323 playing tag and hiding behind trees in the game of hide and seek. Catching fire flys and putting them in mason jars to light our room. Lol 😅 Lovely memories. Playing leap frog with family and mother may I or simon says. Do kids do any of these fun activities anymore. Such fun we had. ☺

He was Very special to me!!! I got to see him at a free performance at Palm Springs High School just a short time before he died. He looked young and sang like his old self. What a talent he was ! I yelled and screamed for him in a crowd of mostly older people, I was late 20's.
I could never say how handsome Rick was his little ole sweet side way smile he had would melt your heart into. I love his music and never get tired of hearing him singing. He loved his kids and him and Chris belong together.she was a beautiful girl also. There will never be another Rick Nelson. Keep singing with the angels in heaven.
Oh mine too I had the biggest crush on him. He was so handsome. I loved his music- I’m now 70 he makes me feel so young when I hear his music. Goon to soon. Love you Ricky❤❤❤😢
I am 69 and in year 1973 i had a Thunderbird 1966 go cruising and play Ricky Nelson and the girls 'WOW', i must tell you that i am from Sweden and i love american cars and rock & roll 🇸🇪

He was a talent that was just beginning to take flight, 16 yr to 21 yr. He was killing it!!! And just out of the starting gate. . And crushing our hearts along the way.
Roy Orbison said about Ricky, Ricky can sell a million records a month like that. Roy said he would have to sell a year to reach a million. Ricky is good looking young man and sweet voice.
Just love listening to his beautiful, romantic voice. Especially the song.. I need you. Handsome with a great voice. Basil from Malaysia. Sad he passed away so young at 51. He just be 0at heaven's gates. 🙏
So did I Christine, his music kind of had a rockabilly sound to it. Like Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, and, Little Richard. My old Sister used to listen to his records 45's.😊
Ricky Nelson , was good looking . Had a beautiful voice to sing . And put out so many Fantastic songs . Love all of his songs .

My mom said Ricky Nelson was the younger version of Elvis Presley!
He certainly was very handsome, died so young
Not really! Ricky sang softer, ballad-type love songs. Elvis was more rock and roll and very hyper at times.

He had a pleasant voice and could carry a tune and... don't get me wrong, 'cuz I like listening to him, but he doesn't even approach Elvis !
He was not anywhere near passing elvis. But then nobody is.
He’s so cute, and with that soft dreamy voice- Ricky Nelson is too beautiful to be true.
There’s so many favorite songs of mine on here. Truly enjoy this compilation. Your work is appreciated. Thank you.
Agree..so handsome and talented
Yes. Talented and underrated.(my view)

Amen!
Thanks James . 🙂
Agreed.
Thanks for furnishing details on great musicians old/new. You have a wide spectrum on professional Artists ,very interesting to capture highlights!! This one is sexy...🎉😅😊❤
Listening to Ricky Nelson makes me feel so good even after all these years. Thank you for sharing!
Loved Ricky beautiful voice bought all his records as we called them in the old days!! He was so handsome my number one next to Elvis of course!!
According to his older brother and hit sons, Rick never used any harmful drugs. So, you can forget about Rick dying of a drug problem. He didn't use heroine or cocaine.
The guy could sing. I sang a lot of his tunes. Something very fishy about his death.
Anyway he didn't die from drugs, he was killed in a crash landing of a plane. I believe he couldn't get out as the plane caught on fire. Terrible way to go.
We were so lucky to have some of the best talents to remember of the 60's and that era....
I used to listen to his songs in my teens. He had a very tender voice and he was very handsome. May his soul rest in peace.❤❤❤
Ricky Nelson was one of the BEST Singers of all time. My favorite song of his is Lonesome Town.
We grew up together and I consider him to be my brother, I really miss him, RIP.

Ricky is not only good-looking but writes melodious songs. That's a winning combination.
I liked his music , movies and when his family was on tv
The time of the best music ever.
I’m not Mary Lou, but Ricky Nelson had my heart.
I love this song
Ricky forever.
He had his own style and stuck to it. People will remember and like him for that. A Classic!
Thank you for sharing it! ❤😊

Ricky Nelson was a great singer. I had such a big crush on this handsome young man. Yet I was a kid but I knew music N good looks...🦋
He was a talent that was just beginning to take flight, 16 yr to 21 yr. He was killing it!!! And just out of the starting gate. .
And crushing our hearts along the way.
A Professional at his craft. He could be smooth, or be a rocker on the flip side. What versatility!
