Your apartment has come so far! It looks great! Something to note is California law says every 10 years of renting the landlord is supposed to paint your apartment. You are due for a free paint job on the entire place. I just hit 11 years in my rental too, and am excited to get it painted. It is so needed. =)

Its all in the perspective. We downsized to 1100 Sq. feet upon retirement. I missed the extra room so much at first. I had to declutter, declutter, declutter . I got rid of things I loved and it was like ripping band-aids off of a hairy arm. 3 years later and I LOVE the simplicity of my home.
I also have a guitar as "decor"...I don't play it, but I have visiting family members that can/do pick it up and play it. And I just think musical instruments are so beautiful.
We haven’t seen your space in a while, so nice to revisit it! When I saw this video had posted I immediately felt that I definitely could get myself to start a little declutter on this hot and steamy Sunday, BEFORE I allowed myself to watch it…managed an entire kitchen cabinet (that’s GOOD for me 😂) I almost filled an entire trash bag and out it went! Letting some things dry(too many mugs and glasses) as I decide what to keep and then donating the rest tomorrow. I love the peaceful airy atmosphere you’ve created for yourself and that handsome dude you live with!❤

Love your kitchen! You could use a product on your tiles called “grout renew” that you can get at Home Depot and probably Lowe’s. I used it on our bathroom floor tiles and the floors looked brand new when done. It’s basically painting the grout lines. I used the linen color and the difference was unbelievable. It might make you love your kitchen even more.

We do live in the country, but in a very small home. The windows mostly can't be accessed because furniture is in front of them. For a long time, I've been bummed about that, and that when we go outside, though we have a beautiful yard, we are on a major highway so we have traffic noise all the time. Seeing this helps remind me to have gratitude. I'm not in the city, and i can see nature all around me. I'm originally from Detroit, and it's important to remember the positives in your life and circumstances and not focus on negatives. Really, the negatives are small in comparison to the big picture!
Carla, if you need more storage for your desk, Amazon sells drawers that you can stick on underneath. They’re really great for hiding the paperwork and not so pretty things.

I love that chandelier in your bedroom! It's so elegant. :) My house has 4 ugly ceiling fans and after 15 years I managed to replace one with a pretty light fixture. It makes the room so much more cozy. Honestly you have a very charming place there with a lot of character. I love the upgrades you've done and all your artwork. Artichokes are easy and delicious. Boil a big pot of water and put in an onion, chopped, a couple of sticks of celery, chopped, a bay leaf, garlic to taste, and a tablespoon or two each of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Add several artichokes and simmer, covered, for an hour. Serve hot or cold. Most people like arties hot with melted butter but I like them hot or cold with a half-mayo, half yogurt sauce with curry powder to taste.

Itd mean drilling into the tiles but you could put your painting on it and itd kinda break up the tile (though i like tile- very easy to clean despite the grout). The command strip would definitely be easier
