I think help like this should replace regular gifts. What better gift than helping someone simplify their life and love their living space! Honestly anything that helps destress someone and organizes some part of their life I believe is truly a gift. I have two boxes of paper to go through and then I will complete another clothing purge (removed another bag of clothes last weekend). ☘️
Organizing and decluttering for my friends is LITERALLY my love language. My bestie will call me and say, "I NEED TO FIX MY CLOSET. COME HELP!" It's so fun for me, and really helps her. Win-win!
@@helenalaney my friends all know that I have OCD, so they all know that I have a standing offer for anybody that wants/needs help. I am very outspoken, so I literally just say, "hey, just so you know, if you ever need help decluttering and organized I'd LOVE to help!" They know I genuinely enjoy doing it, and that I'm respectful of their possessions. My best friend has a nail OBSESSION. I'd never keep fifty nail polishes, but SHE does, so when she declutters, I don't question the fifty nail polishes or argue that it's excessive, I just have her throw out any old or separated polishes. It's super important to set YOUR feelings aside. I own two polishes. She has an entire nail station in her office. UV lights, Dremel, polishes, glitter, nail gems... It's a massive amount. I'd never want that much, but she does. I don't have to store it in my house, so I literally don't care one way or another.
4 hours is NOTHING compared to how long that would have taken alone!!! Amazing job, both of you!!!! Lisa if you're reading this: if you want to consolidate further I recommend putting like things inside like. For instance, the travel pillow and packing cubes could go inside a suitcase. The smaller suitcase *might* even fit in the larger ones. And for the lovely coach bag -- If you don't have paper to fill it so it keeps it's structure, you can put other purses in it to make it stand up and keep it's shape! Also you absolutely killed it! You are so strong for letting go of that wedding stuff. Cheers to new memories!
Carla, these comments are so right - you are a wonderful friend and beautiful person. And what fun to have what feels like a totally new closet! And thanks to everyone for the solidarity, it warmed my multiple wig having, marriage memento shedding, backpack hoarding heart.
You look fabulous! I had to go peek, & found Cara😀, can't believe you're only 4 years younger than me, so where did MY youth go? This was fun, I need to declutter my wedding things, it's hard because, it was so special to me, but I have downsized it into a small box except for the multiple photo albums. Like who do I even share those with, our boys don't know those people, & 45% of them are passed on 😕sad. (Been divorced 13yrs) That clutter is the least of my worries! Sure wish I was friends with Carla! Blessings Lisa, you're a sweet Gal! And ya, the point of this rant: you look amazing💗
Sending Lisa a big hug. I appreciate her being willing to discuss the hard stuff like her wedding mementos. Most of us have some items that remind us of difficult times. ♥
I would totally put that little purse ontop of a stack of books or in a visible place of honor, and store a couple little things in it. Having it be visible art is a great use for it.
Carla- These Clean with Friends give me life. I am so extremely happy to see them and get motivated! I was able to declutter my hall linen closet and realized I had more than enough to share with others. Please don’t ever stop posting these!!!🥰🥰🥰
Going through wedding things after a divorce is really hard. Proud of you Lisa! I’ve been there and you are a rockstar for tackling those items. Carla you did a great job giving space for Lisa to process those items kudos to you!
The new closet looks like a hidden gem in a vintage shop. Like no one has opened it and it's perfectly preserved. I wanna go in that closet!!! What an amazing job, I hope she is so proud of herself and of you for organizing it so beautifully!
That was a great declutter and closet makeover. Her grandmother's cocktail bag could be used as a jewelry box. She could keep it on her dresser. It would be a functional memento. Also she could put her pillows in her larger handbags to help them keep their shape so they'll last longer. I store bulkier scarves in bags I use mostly in winter. Can her luggage be stored inside itself? One of her bags looked small enough to be inside one of the other ones.
Absolutely beautiful transformation in more ways than one. Thank you Lisa for not only allowing Carla to share your closet clean out, but also for allowing her to share your huge step in closure of letting go of that chapter of your life by letting go of a lot of mementos from that day. You have shown me how it is ok to let go and move forward because it allows us for more space to get our stuff together. Just like letting go of the other stuff in your closet allowed for more space to get only the important things that mattered to be kept. Every woman needs a friend like Carla. She is always there for you helping to encourage you to sort through the crap and keep only the things that are going to help you live your best life.
This is such a delightful treat - being able to peek into people's lives for a brief moment and become inspired and amazed by their journey. No heat, no judgement. I love it when a good plan comes together.
Your friend seems so sweet and nice. It's hard letting go of old things from the past. Especially the wedding stuff would have been really hard. I would love to see her on again with you doing other areas of her house. Kitchen/clothes closet/etc. Good job on her first step of decluttering.
I really enjoy watching this. What I think helps is when "Sell"-Items are put away nicely too. Because putting them in a trash bag feels like a big gap - it feels like you are all of the sudden not valuing the item anymore and that makes it harder to let go (at least for me). So whenever I declutter I make sure to not smush it somewhere but hang it, or fold it properly cause the item is still of value, just not meant for me.
For stuff like extra pillows and blankets I definitely use vacuum bags. It flattens them plus I think it protects them from bugs or getting dirty, I always throw a dryer sheet in the bag as well to keep them smelling nice. The closet looked great, it went from Monica’s shame closet in friends to a totally organized and useable space. I’ve told people they need to realize that just because it’s a closet doesn’t mean you should just stuff things in, they are your belongings and if you love them then respect them and give them a proper space.
What a blessing you have given your friend, Lisa! All the applause and kudos to Lisa for letting go of the ephemera that was no longer bringing happiness. I was really struck when she said she may want the cards as proof later on that she had been loved. I think that idea is very universal and an underline of collecting/hoarding. Seeing and using the new closet, I hope she can have joy remembering this day you spent together and that she is loved by you.
Great choice imo to get rid of the past life memorabilia to allow the future memories to come in. I saw a family make a video of themselves going through these items and reading things, showing the photos and now they have the video of them all laughing together as they went through them and released the clutter 💜✌🏼
Awesome friendship and support in these decluttering moments is what makes your channel a success Carla. Kudos to your friend for sharing this bit of her life with us.
I have been into minimalism for a couple of years now so there is no clutter left in my flat. But when I watch your videos I almost wish I still had more stuff because decluttering is just so much fun! 😉
I really found it interesting that the feeling in the room changed after deleting mementos from the wedding. Something to consider when going through items, ones that may have negative effects. You both did such a wonderful job!
"If you are not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it in a closet somewhere". Lisa was a perfect example of this behaviour. So glad that you intervened and helped her get organized. I'm sure she'll keep it up now, just needed motivation.
in fact, not easy to share on camera. love to both of you girls, inspiring women, thank you to both of you for sharing for helping us, others in this process,
This is absolutely amazing. I am STUNNED by the transformation in that closet. And it’s so beautiful to see your friendship. It’s a reminder of what’s *actually* important in life - as opposed to our piles of “stuff.” 💕 PS I am definitely gonna get a set of those shelf organizers. Tons of options on Amazon.
Her grand-mother's purse is adorable. She may want to use it ask a jewelry box or on display near or in front of her books on that beautiful piece near her sofa. WONDER. So organized. ❤It.
I’m only a couple of minutes in and I’m telling Lisa to display her grandmother’s purse 👜 I think it fits in beautifully in her creative home …. Greetings from Scotland 🏴
Shout out to your friend for being able to part with some of her more sentimental items. This is something that I have struggled with over the years, but am getting better at. And shout out to you Carla for your amazing organizational skills. You guys did an awesome job! ❤
Wow! She did a great job! I understand how decluttering can just lighten the whole mood of the room or area now. This was so motivating & therapeutic for me. Thanks
It's so wonderful to decide to have only what belongs in your life NOW. Not dragging your long-ago and heavy past everywhere you move, and seeing it every time you open the door. That burden can taint so much of your life! Great clear-out!
Carla you are so gentle, nudging and helpful to get rid of thespace to keep things that are special to them! You did "wonders" helping her! She is so hilariously cute!! Thank you for these videos with friends!
Just a storage tip, if one suitcase can fit inside the other, store them that way along with the travel pillow insured Anne your travel tote and travel toiletries bag. All your travel items will be together.
I loved both of you ladies! As a viewer I felt the good energy between the two of you and the apartment was beautiful! So full of light! I could not believe so many things could fit into that closet though 😀 makes me think about my own closet, oh dear 😀 great result, I love how she can now easily just grab a purse and a jacket and just go. Also I know I am being greedy but I would love a tour of her place, it looked so cozy and bright, you have to like the pesron who lives there 😀or another maybe an actual closet or kitchen declutter? I would love to see you both together doing the work!!
About momentos, Keep the ones that have good memories attached to them, get rid of the negative memories because later when you need to feel good, the happy ones are the ones that will be useful. She got rid of the book the written wishes her friends had for the following years . Since the wedding is dissolved and the wishes have passed their expiration date, it was good to discard them. Recently I read my old high school yearbook and the wishes that people wrote me, it was nice and heartwarming, we were young and wished each other successful and a good life. For many years I didn't see a point in keeping it, but I think I will enjoy it again.
Amazing job on letting go ❤ Isn’t it truly phenomenal how the energy shifts like that!! What a great sense of humour and outlook. I have a feeling I’d love her mom too 😂😂
I just came over from The Suitcase Designer, and I love decluttering videos. This was awesome, I would to see more "decorating with friends", but maybe next time with a microphone on the friend. I love her "new" closet. I thot the decorative pillows filed vertically was just perfect! You both did great!
I'm really happy this lovely lady had you to help her with the process, because this sort of letting go is hard hard hard! I would be so interested in any physical or mental affects from letting go of such heavy emotional wedding based memories - I've had a physical reaction to letting go of things almost like I've had to 'take to my bed' for a day - very exhausting - along with the freedom and relief and joy. Thank you to your friend for sharing the process with us. Then the fun of watching you work the magic of putting things back and organising so that she can shop from her own items - go into the cupboard and choose a beautiful bag to suit her mood and ensemble and I love that 😊
Just watched this and can't believe what you accomplished in 4 hours! Great job! Seems like some of those jackets she wants to sell could be sold on poshmark too. Looks like it will be a great yard sale! Very satisfying to see mounds of stuff become organized, useful items!
What a great video! You're such a great friend Carla, very helpful. You know when to give a little push, and you also don't judge when Lisa wants to hold onto certain things. I love that. Lisa, you did so so well with everything, and in particular your wedding mementos. I wish you the best in this new chapter, cheers to you!!
thank you to remind us that it can unlock energy to let go some past stuff.. it is actually helping me to face a pile i feel time to let.. face.. thank you to both of you
Awesome job, end result looks great!! Tip for the luggage, store the smaller suitcase inside the larger one along with and other smaller travel bags and accessories!
Such a good episode 👌 Lisa was so sweet. I loved her style and the way she expressed herself. And of course it was so inspiring seeing her go through her wedding box.
Fantastic! What a difference to the space! I was very impressed by her decisions: I imagine it's really helpful to have a friend like you to support and energise Xxx
Y’all did an amazing job. So proud of you Lisa for letting wedding stuff go. In a couple months go through the closet again & downsize more. That’s what I did & the 2nd time around I got rid of @ least 70% more😊❤😊
Love to see you helping your friends! I thought there was no way that pile was going to fit back in the closet. But you did it! Great job to both of you!
Decluttering the wedding memorabilia must have been very difficult! But I agree about the new energy coming into your home. This was your past self and you have moved on. To brighter opportunities ahead!!
Packing cubes, I keep mine in suitcases. I'd put the spare pillows/blankets in the suitcases, to keep dust off them. Most likely forget they are there after a while though.
Loved this---the Carla KonMari method...so much better than the Tetris closet!! Great Job!! It's good to go through things and keep the good memories and then move forward to better memories!
I can so relate to the struggle with the wedding memories box. I have a small box with cards and such from what once was a great relationship and I wasn’t ready to get rid of those things even though the relationship failed in an ugly manner. It’s been about 8 years now and just recently thought about that box and how I’m thinking I may be ready to get rid of the contents of that box. I would love to have this type of help decluttering but I would be mortified to have anyone see the areas I need help with. I really enjoy your content and your voice is so soothing
What a fabulous makeover! She did so well! She is also very fun, I wouldn't mind seeing more makeovers with her. I was going to do some work, but when I saw your video, that was definitely worth 35-minute watch. Thanks Carla.
I have just discovered you Carla & love your spirit. What you did with Lisa & the wedding memories is something I need to do. I have been divorced 13 years & I have too many photo albums/ cards/ etc taking up valuable space in my closet. I really liked what you said about the energy. My load would certainly be lighter if could regain valuable closet space! Thank you so much! I needed to see this! Much love~💜💜💜
This channel is reminding me. My ex husband and my children when younger we would sit as a family and watch the channel on those days on tv i love organization or creative makeovers love it
Wow! That closet looks amazing! I too recently cleaned out a hall closet and was shocked at how much was stuffed in there! I gave away so many things and now it’s nice and organized! It makes me so happy, every time I open that closet, and now I can actually find things! You are such a wonderful friend! Everyone needs a friend like Carla!
You did this so special for Lisa, & she appreciates it greatly, youre the Best, I can see the love you have for your friends/ Sister! Great Grandmas purse with the gloves melts my heart, God bless you Carla😘
This is so inspiring. I have a clothes/storage closet in my apartment and have been struggling with decluttering and making it functional. At least now it is walk-in. I live in the north east, we have two distinct seasons, so all of my clothes and coats need to fit. On the other side I have cubes to store folded clothes, shoes, accessories, and whatever art work and supplies and tools that have survived multiple decluttering. I have never totally emptied the entire closet. I’ve been afraid! It would be too much for me to handle. You made it look so do-able! You’ve inspired me to tackle it with a different strategy. After all I have to get the Christmas stuff anyway, I might as well take everything out and better decide what goes back in. I am an aspiring minimalist as well as an artist…conflicted says it all. This was a great video, thank you.
Oh yeah, this video is perfect for you! Lisa is an artist. It helps to have someone else there with you if you have a friend who can come over. If you don’t love it or use it let it go and make room for new energy 💖
Dear Carla, look how you have done so far? I think you have done so well. You have achieved so much. Now you are even helping others. Over 30,000 views. 👍 All the best from Germany
Beautifully done. Very proud of your friend for letting go of things that been in her life for so long, especially the marriage stuff 😊 I did recognize her, however doubting myself until you confirmed who she is. She still very beautiful 😁
It’s hard to declutter when you’re sentimental 😢. Kudos to her for doing a good job and to you for helping her! You ladies are so cute and I love your friendship 💕.
These videos are helping me to finally commit to purging my house. I have been talking about it and putting it off for a couple years. I still have a way to go but at least I am letting go more and more from watching your channel. Thank you for sharing.
It is so hard to clear out wedding things after a divorce. Even 10 years later (and evem if you are glad you divorced) there can still be feelings of pain and sadness that it didn't work out. My parents divorced when I was only 3, and 5 decades later, when SHE passed away, I had to go through the wedding things she had saved and it was hard. But it can also be easier to move on when the task is done. The future is out there!
Great comment, not all memories are positive. You are under no obligation to keep anything, and things that have negative associations need to go. Even if someone put effort or money into it or if it was regarding an important event, if it does not make you happy free yourself from it! Regarding purses, always check the inside before sending them out.
Do you recognize Lisa from The Wonder Years?! She plays Kevin’s girlfriend in season five. So fun having her on an episode😍❤️
Good job girls!👍🤗❤️
Yes! I love that show & looked her up, she was (is) so cute 😊 But yikes some crazy allegations againt Fred Savage... sounds like a Real Tool 🔧 Lol
I was saying she looked familiar. I was lowkey crushing on her back then🤩🤩
I thought she was 30 yo max!
Cara!

Good comment! I was going to say the same thing about the packing cubes but did not think of the pillow though. Doh!
amazing suggestions yessss!!

hilarious right!?? 😂

Yay, thank you! To new chapters!!
“Decluttering is about decision making”. And “clutter is the result of delayed decisions.”(another video I watched) Amen, full circle! 👏
yessss laura!! wow thanks for the full circle haha!!

I love that idea of storing jewelry inside the great-grandmother's evening bag, on a dresser or shelf!
These are great ideas! Thanks for sharing 😁.

Then the fun of watching you work the magic of putting things back and organising so that she can shop from her own items - go into the cupboard and choose a beautiful bag to suit her mood and ensemble and I love that 😊
I was thinking your friend could use that cute bag from her grandmother as a jewellery box or something like that perhaps.
Me too.
It was def adorable and should be out on a shelf. 😀
Great idea!!
Hi! Here from April's channel :) Thank you for showing such an important part of the decluttering process!
Yay welcome Farasya thanks for visiting❤️❤️
Just watched this and can't believe what you accomplished in 4 hours! Great job! Seems like some of those jackets she wants to sell could be sold on poshmark too. Looks like it will be a great yard sale! Very satisfying to see mounds of stuff become organized, useful items!
Carla absolutely loved this ❤️ you both did a fantastic before & after 👍🏼 would love to see more You are the best lol 💝🇮🇱❤️
Wow! Night and day difference.👏🏾👍🏾
Soo excited. Did a self-care routine and ending it off with this video. 🤗
Well Done Lisa and Carla! So inspiring. ❤️
Yay! Hope you enjoyed it!
thank you to remind us that it can unlock energy to let go some past stuff.. it is actually helping me to face a pile i feel time to let.. face.. thank you to both of you
I really feel her joy and relief!
Awesome job, end result looks great!! Tip for the luggage, store the smaller suitcase inside the larger one along with and other smaller travel bags and accessories!
Yes this is such a smart idea! She’s using the small bag this week for a trip but otherwise perfect to compile all into one!!
I love the helping friends declutter videos! You seem like an awesome friend.
Oh thank you! More to come!!
Such a good episode 👌 Lisa was so sweet. I loved her style and the way she expressed herself. And of course it was so inspiring seeing her go through her wedding box.
Happy you help your friend clean so she can have a better home.
Fantastic! What a difference to the space!
I was very impressed by her decisions: I imagine it's really helpful to have a friend like you to support and energise
Xxx
I have kept both of my wedding albums (from two different guys) for all the friends and family members
i love that! beautiful memories ❤️
Yes! Thank you!!
She did a freaking amazing job. You two rocked it!!!!
Great Job!! It's good to go through things and keep the good memories and then move forward to better memories!
yesss always moving forward like life! xo
Beautiful job! It’s hard going through the memories and deciding which ones to keep. She did great on keeping the process moving.
She really did!!
What a fabulous makeover! She did so well! She is also very fun, I wouldn't mind seeing more makeovers with her. I was going to do some work, but when I saw your video, that was definitely worth 35-minute watch. Thanks Carla.
I just started watching,I came from suitcase designer. I love watching decluttering and organizing videos.
Me, too.
Woohoo welcome Sharon!!
Yay happy to have you here :)
Nice job! I've learned that when things make me feel guilty, they're probably things I should let go of.
Amen!!
Hey girls,
great job!! ☆
What about maybe part 2 here? Maybe books or sth.?
Would love to see the two of you together again! ♡
Definitely!!
You can do it Amy!! I see Lisa regularly and she doesn't regret letting go of a single thing!❤️❤️❤️
What a massive difference! Such an enjoyable video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! So functional now! Took me about 10 years after my divorce to go through the wedding stuff too. Nice job ladies! 💝
I would sometimes take pictures of mementos just to make the letting go easier.
It really helps
You did this so special for Lisa, & she appreciates it greatly, youre the Best, I can see the love you have for your friends/ Sister!
Great Grandmas purse with the gloves melts my heart, God bless you Carla😘
Lisa is hilarious 😂 the jacket cupboard had everything but jackets.. apart from hanging on the door.. I relate so much 😅
I love this kind of videos where you are helping your friends. Do it more often.
It's an amazing way to help the people around you. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! Will do!
Amazing job, ladies. Love that you two got to do it together.
thanks love!!
Y’all both did good job cleaning the room and the closet. Throw old stuff away and keeping the items that she want to have.
Here's to letting go of the past & embracing the future!!!!
She did a great job decluttering. Great job Carla!
Momentous/photos/sentimental stuff is the hardest 🥹
Dear Carla, look how you have done so far? I think you have done so well. You have achieved so much. Now you are even helping others. Over 30,000 views. 👍 All the best from Germany
That you both show the actual process of the decision making is really helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job, when I used to travel I would put my smaller suitcases in my larger one top save space
Proud of Lisa for decluttering wedding items!
Beautifully done. Very proud of your friend for letting go of things that been in her life for so long, especially the marriage stuff 😊 I did recognize her, however doubting myself until you confirmed who she is. She still very beautiful 😁
Good morning! I found you through The Suitcase Designer, and am glad I did 😀
I’m so happy welcome Catt!!
I really like Lisa. She's funny and real. If I lived in LA, I could see being friends :)
It’s hard to declutter when you’re sentimental 😢. Kudos to her for doing a good job and to you for helping her! You ladies are so cute and I love your friendship 💕.
Lisa did an amazing job of letting go. When the time is right you know you can let go
Really supportive and good action. Wonderful organisation Carla and your friend is sweet person.🎀🌸🌸
Thanks so much!! She is so sweet❤️❤️
These videos are helping me to finally commit to purging my house. I have been talking about it and putting it off for a couple years. I still have a way to go but at least I am letting go more and more from watching your channel. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah! Such a good job 👏👏👏 would love to see you tackle more of her space bestie 😍
Yes yes it is going to happen!! xo
Just found your channel today! I love decluttering and organization! Been watching all afternoon! Love Samson!
Great comment, not all memories are positive. You are under no obligation to keep anything, and things that have negative associations need to go. Even if someone put effort or money into it or if it was regarding an important event, if it does not make you happy free yourself from it! Regarding purses, always check the inside before sending them out.
