I loved your reaction to the birds nest at the start.😊 Fair play for leaving it in. Many would have edited it out. You got plenty of fish afterwards. I've done it in the past with a new reel when I got overconfident and loosened the controls too much! Anyway a good and entertaining video.
I just lost the spool tension cap off one mag4 reel I I’ve ordered a new one with the washers and what not however, I stripped the other knob down on the other reel and it’s missing parts from the factory there’s no metal thrust washer only a little silicone washer, I wonder what else is missing 😂
I can't get with braid lol but I do love my penn's 525 and 515 I have 22 of them but I like the 515 best just a tip when you get a new one strip it down and get rid of the Greece of the gears and the oil out of the bearings They put too much on And just add a little bit back of each it will run a lot smoother They also handle big fish well I had a 14.2lb ray on it and it wasn't a problem for it
Ive got the mag 525 original and also the 525 mag 4 and the mag 4 is twice as slow as the original on a spin test even swapped the bearing and same result so i would say the braking is a little too strong on the mag4
can these reels hold braid as always been a bit sceptical about it, i own a 525 mag 3 but looking at a mag 4 aswell but need to sell my rocket chrome first
Did you use 4 strand braid or 8 strand, their is a Irish guy on UA-cam called Billy fishing swears by 4 strand braid on multipliers says got to be 4 strand only.
4 strand, I've been watching his Norway fishing videos. I copied his idea for the modified hook on bottom of the circle hooks i just used loops on the end before i saw his videos.
I think its down to how 8strand braid is even thinner than 4 strand? With multiplier line diameter does play a role in cast control unlike a fixed spool where the thinner the better
It would be impossible to say as it comes down to individual experience, casting style, weight of lead, line diameter, weather your casting into the wind or against it, wind speed, elevation and rod length. could be anything from 50-200+ yards
lol mate. okuma surf 8k loaded straight through 70lb braid. 14ft continental rod. i can cast plenty far enough. easily no effort no pendulum bs just simple over head. never had a birds nest never had to buy bs expensive shock leader and when ive encountered snags if the simple rotten bottom hasnt worked ive walked the rod back up the beach laughing..... no offense or cheek mind mate just tried alot of things over the years and keeping it cheap and simple has worked best for me. cant understand these old school anglers whom swear by multipliers where in the same time when ive fished alongside them shoulder to shoulder on the piers and beaches ive either seen myself outfish them on gear a fraction the price of theirs and / or seen them fuming like a kettle and have to pack up and go home becuase their multipliers have basically exploded into a storks nests before their eyes. and theyll turn around too ykna mate and be like...... wha did i do wrong ive been casting like this for years or ah the head winds made a wind knot excuse excuse. everytime i say get yourself a 50-100 pound long cast shallow spool fixed spool casting machine reel and youll be laughing
I started off with a fixed spool when i was 10 and moved over to multipliers when i was around 25. I still use fixed spools sometimes i have penn surfblasted 8000 and a jarvis walker sovereign. It just comes down to personal preference. I just have 12 ft rods at the min but most of the fish in my area are found under 80 yards so i very rarely need to do a pendulum cast there's been a few times when I've been reeling in fish after fish with close casts and the people around me who were going for distance where getting nothing. I do have my eye on 14ft sonic sk5 thou.
@@saltwaterfishingnortheastu527 ah nice mate i can vouch for the sonic rods i have a sonic vader xs power and its decent for the fishing i do. very rarely have i needed mad distance anyway. was wondering whats your pb flounder or plaice? i once caught a flounder local to me and it was 41cm and 2.3 pound, really chunky thing it was, cracking eating too mate, anyhow keep up the good work on the channel i enjoy the videos :)

You can remove two of the magnets. Or shield them with magnetic field shield films. That will help a lot

Neat way of threading the worm, I like it. Have you been using it a while?
few weeks

Braid on a multi just asking for trouble it bites into itself to much just use mono safer easier
max distance this reel can go?
