Jon and Geeks are YES. I was gifted Close to the Edge by my brother when I was 13 ('74). I had requested Fragile. I was mad for about 15 mins. We played the album over and over on his newly bought Pioneer SX 737 stereo and turntable, and JBL speakers, that he brought back from Korea. Me, my bro and his friends went to see YES and Gentle Giant, at the Cow Palace in Daly City in 1976. Seeing and hearing Jon, with eager and talented musicians is a gift.
Incredible. This band and Paul McCartney's band feature musicians that are extremely talented. Jon is hitting all the notes. Unbelievable after all these years!
@@Jim-pt8kk I saw him in 2011 Band on the Run tour. He sounded just like the albums. Band was incredible. But that was 12 years ago. Nobody's voice last forever.
I had the pleasure of watching Jon perform with the talented young people of the Paul Green Rock Academy at RosFest in Sarasota in 2022. What an experience!
I love Jon and so grateful for his 50 years of music... but, having perfect pitch, I can humbly assure you that your comment is not accurate as there are enough notes that are certainly not what they used to be. This is NOT a criticism to Jon. His vocal instrument (and big heart and passion) are still inspirational and commendable for his age.
@@abiyoya Who cares? It isn't about being spot on pitch, it's about the emotional connection to the material, the power of Jon's lyrics, and the incredible way he is able to depart the meaning of those lyrics while singing them live. I've seen him live over 100 times since my first YES show in Nov '72. Never the same, as it should be, but NO ONE can hit the ball out of the park with these songs every time but Jon.
@@yeswolf1 It seems you haven't read my comment properly. What I said, and still say, is in agreement with you wrote. But not with the op claiming that JA hits every single note as he used to.
I used to think Yes could not be the same without the original line up, especially without Chris on bass. But I was wrong. Musicians can train to be just as good, but Jons vocals are what makes Yes. So pleased he is still performing. Love to see them in the UK.
Didn't think I'd see Jon doing the Yes songs in a true band egain after Steve Howe replaced him. Jon is Yes and that's that. These guys are superb. Blown away!
Having been at the very first Yes gig on Mersea Island in Essex and having seen them 5 further times up to the last Classic line up gig in Braintree, Essex, Jon and the Band Geeks are as close sounding to the classic line up as you are ever going to get! Jons voice is just as note perfect as it was all those years ago!
Saw Yes 3 or 4 times in my life. Some with Steve Howe and some with Trevor Rabin. Jon is just an amazing singer that i will never forget live. Chris Squire is also greatly missed.
My first love of the 70s YES!! They were like nothing I had seen or heard…and they felt right to me..I was as we said back then, a space cadet…spaced out…Yes and Pink Floyd..anyway..this made me think of the days…Wakeman , Brueford, Howe, Andersen..those were the days…I here my past in these echoes.
I've loved YES since the first time one of my brothers brought home Fragile YES album, and I love the fact that Jon is still out there singing his music and having a good time.
Thanks for sharing - great video. I was just thinking, we do have a go at people getting their phones out at concerts and not being 'in the moment' but had you not filmed this we wouldnt have been able to enjoy - so thanks again.
Was a great show...thx to Jon and The Band Geeks. Lucky to see them at Des Plaines Theater with fellow Yes geek Jeff from high school. 50 years indeed, remember first listen of this album when released
In reaction to this video, i envision two seperate events happening: (1) Rick Wakeman cheering loudly from his HQ, (2) Steve Howe turning a bit pale as he looks over attendance figures from the laterst Yes tour
Spätestens jetzt sollte Howe mit seiner mittelmäßigen Coverband, die sich leider auch noch YES nennen darf, dieses nur noch peinliche Kapitel beenden. Dies hier ist überragend ❤❤
Jon is the only living founder of YES. Yet Jon and Chris were very excited to have Steve replace Peter Banks in 1970, and Howe's first album with YES, The YES Album brought the band world-wide fame. It was Rolling Stone Magazine that wrote, "The addition of Steve Howe has allowed YES to find its true identity." His contributions to every YES album throughout the 70's was extraordinary, and his performance on all tours was nothing short of magnificent. For 5 consecutive years he was named the Best Overall Guitarist in the World, and what most of the people here fail to understand that it was Steve Howe's contributions to YES is why Jon Anderson and the Geeks have such great songs to play. So what if we was not an original member. Who cares?

Jon will always be one of finest vocalists in our lifetime.
Yeah, but he's no Ann Marie!
jon anderson is the voice of yes !
There is no other like Jon.
The best vocalist in Rock Music . Long may he live . God bless you John
I just love how Jon still has the pipes, and what a band ! I'd see them in a heartbeat !
Incredible. This band and Paul McCartney's band feature musicians that are extremely talented. Jon is hitting all the notes. Unbelievable after all these years!
McCartney ruined his voice by singing songs, like Helter skelter, and Live and Let die and doing 3 1/2 hour shows

He alone with his band sounds more than the old yes than the others. A unique voice
That is so special to me! Anderson is as great as always!
50+ years later and he hits EVERY. SINGLE. NOTE. In the original key, no less. Just WOW - thank you, Band Geeks, for giving him this opportunity!
Yes. Jon had lost a lot vocally for a while, but worked very hard to regain all his vocal prowess. Amazing.

I love the way he plays the original Leslie guitar solo from the record
You cannot imitate this voice. No one can.
I have a buddy that auditioned for Yes and was a finalist for the gig. He sounds a great deal like Jon Anderson.

Just hearing that voice is so sublime !
I will always miss Chris's pedal bass on this piece. His live performance and bass were super powerful.
It just goes to show you can't have YES without Jon Anderson. You can replace everyone else.

I would give a lot to see/hear this band.
Jon Anderson Yes and Yes Jon Anderson.
What a time that must have been for you guys, playing "And You and I" with the main man, my Accrington man👍
Accy born and bred!
Fantastic! Jon and his new band are awesome!😎
Love Jon!
A great band led by a great singer.
The drumming is just exquisite!
Absolutely beautiful
very nice a big thumbs up
Wow when that Leslie guitar solo kicked in it was perfecto
First saw them in '74. And many times over the years. One of the great bands.
Thank you for your posting of this.

So beautifully played...❤
I wish they'd tour Australia..... Jon and the Geeks are the best👍
Thanks for sharing, great video and great sound. I can only hope that one day soon, Band Geeks with Jon Anderson come the UK 👍
I know - however, I think it is a case of "dream on".
This is phenomenal!!!! I would say besting YES
So glad I found this - thanks for posting Thom. :)
Great video 📹 too! Thank You!
Feel blessed to hear this performed once more in a spirit as intended.
thank you jon for this wonderful band !
Fabulous.

Absolutely awesome ! Never get tired of hearing Yes music !
Amazing band
Love it👍
At 7:14. I do Miss squire playing the harmonica but this is the original way it was played rock on Jon you are a monster. 🎱
Love it!
Wow! ❤❤❤

This is Yes.
so great!
And this is how the song is supposed to begin, not the "shortcut" way it's always done now.
Guys, how about you add an article and call yourselves The Yes. You've got one more original member than the Steve Howe tribute band out there.
How about calling the band "Second Generation Yes"
Or The Original Yes
Was a great show...thx to Jon and The Band Geeks. Lucky to see them at Des Plaines Theater with fellow Yes geek Jeff from high school. 50 years indeed, remember first listen of this album when released
Great Performance!
What is the drummer playing?

Il manque le maestro : Steve Howe !

Liked better the 1972 version
Drummer NOT playing what BRUFORD did at all.
Jon's hand motions synchronize perfectly with every stroke
@@SuperJuicestainThe point is to reproduce the recorded song. He didn’t do that - but everyone else DID.
He sounds a lot like white did. I just wish the harmonica was there.
Nobody can play like Bruford did. Loved him in King Crimson
@@SuperJuicestain And when Jon Davison tries to imitate it, it's a farce.
