The vehicle looks amazing but what really astounds me is that you've replied to each and every comment! That goes above and beyond and shows you really appreciate your viewers. Great work in both areas.
Thank you so much! I am grateful for the time given to view my content and also for those who leave an encouraging word…it definitely means a lot to me. 😊
My thoughts too 👍👍👍
The bike tire trick.....brilliant!
I saw others use one and thought I’d give it a try and was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.
Do you have any of your build plans online? How long can you run your a/c off of your power station? This thing is absolutely gorgeous.
You might consider getting a tailgate screen room ( 4get the brand) 2 extend your living space and give you room to stand up. It comes with optional rain fly.
That would be a neat addition…thanks for the suggestion!
I just have to say thank you. I've watched both videos and I am so impressed. I am turning my F150 into a camper for my 2 girls and myself. We are hoping to leave come Feb 2023. This gives me time to get the back built and everything. We have a jackery 1500 so I'm very thankful for the tour in the other video of how I can set it up. Thank you so much!!!!!!
I am so glad my videos have been helpful to you! Good luck with your build!
Great Build! Can you send me a link to the handle you installed on the tailgate's interior?
Thanks for all of it.. I will have to watch the 1st video again and pay attention to all of the electrical connections
I bought the latest version of the tuk tek kayak. Me and my girlfriend absolutely love them!
That’s awesome! I love the fact that I do not have to wrestle them up to the top of the truck!
you crushed this build. God bless u
I love your bike and kayak!!!😮😮😮❤
Good luck with the alpicool fridge. I have been through two of them already, they don't last long. I'm ordering an iceco next.
Oh bummer…sorry to hear that. Stuff is so hit or miss anymore. They build everything so cheaply anymore. That’s why I like to build what I can.
I get it. Tents are a pain. Campers & Rvs come with issues as well. Simple truck-bed camping allows the experience to flow. I might make an even simpler rig. Thanks for sharing!!
Well said! Good luck with your build!
Im so glad you did a second part to the video with way more motivational information. The best part to me was that you can still bring a kayak and a bike along with you...and a pet if need be.
Thank you Donovin! I am glad you enjoyed the video! The folding bike and kayak is a great fit for a truck build. Unfortunately, my 🐶 gets car sick. 🙁
Love the Drum roll lol
Haha…thanks!
I'm doing many of the same things, but as I'm single and my truck was not a mega cab I omitted the whole rear seat and had cargo trays welded up and bolted into the rear seat anchor bolts.
If I didn’t have to have the backseats for transporting kids, I would totally take them out. Sounds like you’re going to have an awesome build!
perfect
you definitely take care of your stuff, l’m the same way👊🏼
Loved part 2! So organized, everything in its place. Your craftsmanship is exemplary. Safe and happy trails.
Thank you Dorcas! I appreciate the kind words! 😊
Still amazing!
How wide / high is the bed platform? How thick is your mattress? how wide is the center isle ? Great build and craftsmanship! Thanks
Thank you! The bed is about 11” high and 24” wide. I believe the aisle is about 22”. The mattress is 4”. I’ll do a video once it warms up a bit showing all of the dimensions.
Another great video - glad I came across your channel. This is such a great build - and I laugh every time you call it a tramper... see you out there!
Thanks Bobby! It is kind of a funny name, but makes total sense lol!
Dude your build is awesome asf
Thanks so much!
OMG you sure haul around a lot of stuff, it all looks very nice though, cheers and good luck.
Not nearly as much as I did hauling a trailer lol. Also, depending on the trip we may leave certain things out. Thanks for watching!
Your Tramper is truly an inspiration for me... to realize how nice a build can be (best I have seen!) and how organized one can be. In video #1 you listed your must-haves, which pretty much mirrors mine. My build is inside a Harker EDC wedge popup shell, instead of a topper. I don't need the "lower" bed but I can see the practicality of one doubling as a place to lounge and a bed for a guest. I can stand up fully, so, I will be able to have an normal height kitchen countertop and taller storage units. So, even though our designs will vary greatly, I certainly hope I can make mine as functional as yours. I already have a Mr. Heater Buddy, 54x80x4" mattress, Engel 35L 12v cooler, as well as, a 395W panel on the roof. The challenge is, I think, also making all the cabinetry removable.
Thank you very much for the kind words! To stand up in it would be heavenly (especially the older I get)! Sounds like you are well on your way to having an awesome build! Be blessed!
Beautiful part 2
Thanks again! 😊
Incredible! Great job! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much!
Wow ! You have thought of just about everything. New sub here!
Thanks! We appreciate the support!
Like I said one of the nicest vehicle builds that I’ve seen great job buddy ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
Thanks again! The encouragement means a lot!
So organized and well thought out. I have a Bluetti and a small Dometic Fridge, I’d like to keep the fridge in my cab and the Bluetti in the truck cap. How have you run wires from your solar charger to the truck cab?
I generally run the power cable through the windows. I also will put the tire inner tube between the windows to keep the bugs and rain out.
@@WhentheDustSettles Great idea!
Awesome setup! Good ideas on your gear, thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! My pleasure!
Super clean and simple!! Thanks for some ideas I can use on my build!!! Safe travels!
Thanks so much Matt!
Great build, thanks for the push and ideas to start my truck build.
Thanks so much! Glad I could be of assistance!
I would run a copper coil around the muffler...to make hot water. 🙂
That’s a neat idea! Thanks!
Well done.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the update. I already knew there were 2 things I needed that you didn’t cover on your last video. A safety access to the drivers seat from truck bed and a refrigerator/ freezer in the back seat of my truck. I can’t stress enough the importance of having access to the drivers seat from the bed of your truck. I needed it the late 90’s in the Pacific Nothwest and used it. I already replaced my rear cab solid window with a sliding window on my Ford f 250. Just looking for the best topper and build.
I think it is very wise to have an emergency exit into the cab. If you had to get out of a predicament quickly but there is some danger outside of the vehicle it's good security.
I just got my truck, I’m looking to build it out for travel/camping. At 6’3” and 270lbs, I’m not sure if I’ll fit though that sliding window. (I might have to go on a diet!). I really love the idea of using the bike tube to weather proof the connection between the cab and cap!
Great build !!!!Great video!!!
Thank you so much!!
Couldn't one mount a gray/black water tank under the vehicle. Also, have you thought about a Truma heater system?
Quite possibly. I guess it would just be a matter of finding a good spot to hang a tank that could hold the extra weight without getting knocked around if you were off road. The other advantage of keeping it inside is keeping it from freezing in the cold months.
Looking to almost carbon copy this build. Need instruction on making the table and wood used for the build. All help appreciated
Great quality video thank you. I’m really liking the layout .
Thank you so much!
Sweet build. First aid? Or did i miss that?
Awesome build one of the best ones I have seen
Thank you, Dan!!
Wow! What a build and set up man. Really amazes me what you can pack along with you in your pickup.
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
What diameter tire innertube do you use to form the seal between cab and topper? I think I've heard other folks say 18-20"?
Crap. I just built out a simple camper van for retirement but think this would of been a better way to go. Much more stealth then my high top even though only the vent fan gives any indication it's a camper. I would differently get a walk thru door from a.r.e. with arthis in my spine. This is awesome! Lots of similar to mine I have a jackery 1000 $ each flow 720 w 3 suite case 100w panels. I have a truck teck, inflation sup, & letric folding e bike under the bed. They would be in the back seat if I had A truck. I wouldn't need a car. I didn't want the van as a daily driver but a truck would be ok. I used to sleep basic in one back in the 80's when I was in the Navy.
I appreciate the kind words! Your setup sounds pretty awesome! There are many times I wish I could stand up in mine to stretch. I understand about the daily driver…there are definitely pros and cons to both. Take care on the road!
We have a 2017 Ram 2500 LB and we are wondering if you would consider either sharing or selling us a copy of your plans that you used for your lumber. Love the T-shirt btw!
Hi Wayne! Thanks for your interest…unfortunately I don’t have any plans made up besides a few scribbles in a notebook. I may draw up some to make available or do a future video detailing the build more…stay tuned.
Very nice work, sir.
You seem to have thought of everything.
I admire how clean and orderly everything is.
Keep On Truckin’
Thanks so much Allen!!
Very well done on your build. Have you thought about adding a Solar Camp Shower, similar to the Road Shower 4, to the top of your rig just behind the awning? There are different DIY videos on how to make them if that is your preference.
I have. Was thinking about doing one on the opposite side of the awning to balance out the look. I appreciate the suggestions, I’ll check out the Road Shower! Thanks Matt!
If i may ask, at what height did you build your bed at? And can you sit upright on and have head room? I am driving a 2023 dodge ram 1500 with the 6f4 box and i am only 5'7" and cannot sit upright if i make the bed frame at the same level as the wheel tubs...any advice would be greatly appreciated
Yours is the best truck camper design I ever saw on UA-cam. Love it and want to build one in my dream Chevy Colorado truck. Wonder if you have PDF of your camper design in dimensions and info etc? If you do, let me know and appreciate it !
Thank you Donald! I really appreciate it! I currently do not have any plans for my build. It is something I’m considering putting together and if I do I will post a video about it or post something on the community tab.
Nice done!
I'm new in traveling. And trying to choose camper for my business trips as a truck driver. Sleeping in cab doesn't too comfortable. And your decision is absolutely nice! So I have couple questions:
How much money did you spent for it?
Can I buy somewhere it?
How and where can I empty gray water tank, on truck stops?
Thank you! Either the cap, I probably have close to 8-9k. There are some custom shops that make builds for truck beds, unfortunately mine is currently one of a kind. You could probably dump your grey water in a public restroom, campground, flying j truck stops, etc. if you collect it in a jug like I do.
Nice build!!! This is ford f150???
Thank you…it is a 2014 Ram 2500.
Thank you for sharing. I’m also thinking of buying a full sized truck for the purpose of converting it to a compact camper. Instead of a bed cap considering medium height industrial slide in, either Tuffport or SpaceKap which would make it a self contained easy to swap unit. Did you consider a slide in capsule with proper doors before you got a topper. If so, what made you decide in favour of bed topper instead of a slide in? Thank you.
Sure thing! I actually didn’t have any thought of converting it into a camper when I purchased the cap. At the time I was pulling a 30ft Airstream and would bring along my Honda 7000 Generator in the truck bed, so the cap was just to keep that protected plus I had a decked drawer system installed. Once I sold the trailer (we moved and didn’t have a place to park it) I was really interested in converting a van. Then one day I had the bright idea to “practice” on my truck first. May still do a van someday, but for now I’m really enjoying the truck.
Great video, love your setup!
Thank you!!
U really did it all. Nice
Thank you Peter!
Do you plan to install a diesel heater?
Does the Blackstone griddle also function as a open flame grill? For steaks or burgers?
Not that I’m aware of.
Great setup ! I like it a lot geat video keeo them coming.
Thanks so much! Will do!
I would like to see the schematic of the water tank how it was plumbed and the electrical
I may do a future video detailing those systems. Thanks for watching!!
When you want to feel like a sardine and spend ridiculous amounts of money doing it. Nice build!
i want will you ever build for others ?
Unfortunately, not at this time.
How long is your truck bed.
6.5’
What's the name/brand of that backpack? It looks sturdy enough.
It’s a lowepro camera bag. Very sturdy.
Damn.
😆
Looks too good, got money.. if I had it I would have done that to a transit instead of a truck
Yeah, a van would have been awesome!
