Dave, it baffles me that a guy in his garage can make a nice full-featured camper that weighs 650lbs, and tenured camper companies can't make a basic camper that weighs less than 1500. Very well done!
I bought a Travelite for my short box, 1180Lbs, under my payload (no bathroom, portapotti in cupboard plus lowest weight model) Have a set-up to shower inside. Preferred this layout! Campers seem to cost more than trailers! Rides well! I keep everything light and minimal and I don't fill the water tank when traveling (I pack 4 gallons, depending on where I'm going). I have Dometic air conditioner (used once) would like to change it out to a fan, never used the hot water tank (I boil water), never used the outside shower or microwave (took it out). Heater works great and the 3 way fridge. I usually camp without amenities, usually hunting or fishing. I have portable (fold up) solar and a power station. I usually cook outside, but the inside 2 burner propane is handy at times. It seems well enough insulated. Hated the netting on cupboards, added doors. Somethings are a waste if you don't use them! This guys homebuilt in nice and half the weight!
Ya have that right Jon! If I was younger?? Yes! I would attempt to doing that! At 70, both my knees replaced, a Stroke; I’m afraid I’m out of commission now.. You’ve done great work my man!
@@Here_is_WaldoI absolutely believe it. The main structural component of this build is XPS foam. A 2" thick 4'x8' XPS board weighs 7.5 lbs and has an insulation rating of R-10. XPS is very strong in regards to compressive forces but weak with twist and shear. He mitigates that here by making a composite panel/sandwich with 1/4" wood panels on the outside of the foam. I would guess this build is just as strong as any commercially available build. I love this design!
@@irishcanuck9489I converted a Ford Transit cargo van into a camper van. What I learned is that I just don’t need much to be comfortable. A comfortable platform bed with mattress, a way to stay cool in the summer (Thinsulate insulation, MaxxAir fan, window vents, usb fans, battery operated fan, 12v fans) and a way to stay warm in the winter (quality sleeping quilts and heater). A comfortable swivel seat, lagun mount table, a fridge, lighting, and built in storage to round it out.
Mr. Endgame; not only is your camper a modern day work of technical art; but your thought process, presentation and craftsmanship are so beautifully organized and executed. Well done!
Your presentation is incredible. I like how you take your time and communicate so well. It’s therapeutic for me to listen to, time just stops and I can fully enjoy watching this wonderful creation you’re sharing with us. Well done. Can’t wait to make my own!
Very cool. Lots of people building campers from utility trailers, a lot of the same ideas used here can be used on those of course. The commercially available campers and travel trailers are so expensive and poorly made unless you go nuts and get an Airstream. In contrast. this camper is a work of passion and well made. Well done sir.
Omg, so sweet. I wish I could have a camper like that, I have a short bed Chevy 5ft 8 inch bed. I’m disabled, no tools etc. trying to not live in my truck. But I’m about to be homeless, where I live has been sold. Great way to start fall, I wish I could find someone who’d like to do a camper build on mine 🙏. Sticker on my truck says no slide in campers, so now looking for a truck cap. So I’d have some room out of elements , even finding a cap for my size is very difficult. I don’t need all the bells and whistles, just heat and sleeping and cooking out of the elements. I think yours are so comfy looking, great work 😊
@@PORSCHE_COUNTRY. , yeah I found 4 wheel campers. There company is actually about 2&1/2 hrs from where I live, there basic model is still very expensive for me. If your situation hasn’t changed since the posting, a couple things: you have a truck; worse case scenario, you’re not homeless, just houseless. Next, you need to check out both these on UA-cam and whatever social media platforms they are on: starting with HOWA (House on wheels Alliance), and Bob Wells. You can find many resources needed to help you build out your truck to a truck camper. The more you research, the more knowledge & information you will garner, not to mention a great community. I’m in the same situation - except I had to sell my 12 acres & cannot squat on what was once home. The plan was always to head west- just too expensive out east. A solo widow, it’s been just me & a couple furbabies for a while & my mechanical skills are slim & none! I must first make a trip to get my 22-year old rig from NC to FL to inter my brother’s cremains. Afterward, it’s westward bound on a wing and a prayer. But it’s past time to meet likeminded people - to get to where all these wonderful, smart people & resources are. The winter weather has set my timeline back, but mid Jan. I must break away from this property- emotionally & physically (and new property/homeowner has no more use of any security services I provided during restoration & needs me to go). Change is always scary, but I think this is one case where one door closes and a huge, new one will open. We have to have hope; so many times there is no option but hope. Take a deep breath and plow through it. You’ll be fine, my friend.
Such a great build Dave! You fit so much into a great space. Look forward to what you do with the camper van. Thanks for all the time you put into the videos as well.
You have made an absolute beauty of a camper. GREAT JOB!! ( I wish I was not so old that I can not do something like this. It's tooo late!) Great job, really a nice job. Congratulations. Ride on!
Hi Dave, thank you for sharing your camper builds, they are very inspirational. I had watched many of your prior build videos, but noticed they're no longer available for viewing. Would you consider making them available again? I was hoping to use your builds as guidance for a truck camper build myself. Thanks
Just found your channel and watched this video. Your build philosophy is a perfect balance of function, practicality and aesthetics! I am gonna watch more of your channel!
This is an awesome camper just like all the rest of them. I’ve been watching you since the beginning you’re a very talented man. I do wish you could come up with some kind of a plan people could buy so others may attempt it? Also, the total cost of your builds would be nice. Looking forward to what you do with the van. I’m sure it’ll be another awesome project.
I love it when efficient thoughtful design meets build quality and aesthetics. Thanks for the tour of your wonderful camper! If I were younger and in better shape, I could see myself making and using a camper like that. It's SO MUCH BETTER than the new '74 Mazda B1600 with aluminum topper I first camped with.
I like it. The curb weight of my current little truck is 3,000 pounds. When I get done building, it will be (my goal) 4,000 total. I use the Love's CAT Scale to measure the weight as I go along with the build.
There are so many good aspects to this camper, especially the 6 ft 5 sideways sleeping orientation. But you definitely need to include a portable grey tank and maybe just a longer hose. Grey water attracts animals and bugs, not to mention that some camping areas frown upon dumping grey water (but in your case, unless they inspect the inside how will they know?) Virtually any type of plastic water container could serve as your grey tank. I also like the air conditioner! Very practical.

I always see you driving around! Love the camper, seeing the truck driving from outside it looks like it rides like a dream, I don't see excessive body roll if any really or take offs that look hard on the drive train. Any day I see you out and about I know it's a good day!

Amazing. I thinking of building a camper just like this one. I was thinking of like folding bed. With legs that swivel just to have also folding seats. Thank you for your video. Been my dream. 😊
Good build, followed along on them good vid Like to see the van build. Interesting with the composite construction. Simple is good. I like an 8 ft bed or a tray. Flatbeds get pretty tall though but allow space for a small bike up front with spares or on the rear. Take care
As a carpenter with over 27 years experience in residential building, I must say, I am really impressed at your camper build ..... the finish product looks AWESOME, and to have it weigh in at around 650lbs (dry) is remarkable, to say the least !! Could I ask how you made the exterior panel connect (at the joints), strong enough to withstand the tristing, Torquing that happens when off-roading ... ??? "Thanks" for posting this build, as I am intrigued. Eric
Thank you. Means a lot coming from someone of such tenure. In short, I build it like furniture. I used traditional joinery in some places and everything is glued too - not solely held together with mechanical fasteners.

I love the Walnut countertop too. My cousin has a band-sawmill, if I get some walnut, I’ll have him cut some. Have you included descriptions of the fabric you use in any of your videos? Thanks again Dave.
Well done. Detailed and informative video, great communicator, and quality / practical build. Couldn't ask for much more. Cheers Dave!
Amazing. I thinking of building a camper just like this one. I was thinking of like folding bed. With legs that swivel just to have also folding seats. Thank you for your video. Been my dream. 😊
Absolutely impressive. You could make a living off of making these...but then you'd miss out on living your own adventures! Thank you for sharing.
Great design, weight and power capability! With off grid AC too 🎉
You built what I wish I could build. Perfect for remote camping.
really well done !GREAT ! perfect for a baja drive and explore
Good build, followed along on them good vid Like to see the van build. Interesting with the composite construction. Simple is good. I like an 8 ft bed or a tray. Flatbeds get pretty tall though but allow space for a small bike up front with spares or on the rear. Take care
exceptionally nice set up.
Exceprional build my friend. Thanks for sharing.
Really efficient, nice looking build. Impressive! Thanks for sharing.
Well planned layout of your rig. Love all the details and creativity you put into this. There is nothing like being able to get out in nature!
Thank you so much. I agree
I love your build . Art work was beautiful. Very simple an functional
You did a fantastic job! That looks and functions great! I wish I was that handy with construction. I can fix just anything but I have never been a “carpenter”. Lol Enjoy your hard work and be safe.
Dave: That is some very creative craftsmanship. To have the unit that functionally complete, with such a superb fit and finish, and then to come in at only 650 pounds is nothing short of extraordinary. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
Thank you so much!
You have a beautiful camper and I love the wood counter tops and table. So stunning. It looks well thought out and designed for space and storage and many other things. Impressive😊
Thank you so much!!
Very nice. I want one!
That looks absolutely awesome on that pickup, nice colors together.
