    Just in case anyone was going to build their own,... You need a 10" continuous loop to work with the beast tender on the platform and an 8" for the stick set up. This is for the proper diameter and a 7 loop schwabish hitch... I was told this from The Amsteel Guy himself

      The pro is the way to go. Your first swabbish, feed it through its self, makes it even quicker. That way all you have to do is grab it and go.

    Awesome, I am definitely switching to this for my platform. Tired of the cam buckle and metal clanging everywhere, plus I think this might be safer. Excellent review as always!

    For a platform, do you prefer the USA XL "pro" model to the regular version? Wondering if the extra tightness of the pro is significant enough to justify the extra steps & fiddle factor of feeding the line back though the 2nd prussic knot?

    Do you feel like the pro series is worth getting over regular for the sticks? Or doesn’t the regular work well enough? Great video.

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors

      I personally use the regular. If I felt I needed to, I could use the truckers hitch on the regular also. I have found double wrapping the tree suffices most times. For the sticks, I haven’t felt the need to use the pro.

    I just got the xL. I feel like the tender is too far away from the swabisch hitch and it doesn’t let me get it very tight before camming over the platform. I have a ton of space between the tree and the stand-off and have to toe cam a couple times.
    Then when I went to release the swabisch, there was no way I could release it with two fingers like you did. It seems to cave in the amsteal rope making the hitch hard to move.
    I haven’t tried the trucker’s hitch method yet.

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors

      Man not sure. Is the knot on the Schwabisch touching the mainline? Sometimes that can cause some problems.

    I’ve ordered 1/4 inch Amsteel rope to replace my strap and buckle on my climbing sticks, What size rope do you recommend I use to create that Swabish hitch, And do I buy a continuous loop to do this?
    Any chance you’d be kind enough to link the item to me in your response so I know where I can purchase it??
    And how long should this continuous loop be?

    Does the USA stick attachment work as well as the USA pro for sticks as far as holding them tight to the tree? I would like to eliminate the extra fiddle factor of the Pro for my sticks if the non-Pro model holds just as tight. Thanks.

    • @platinumpursuitoutdoors
      @platinumpursuitoutdoors  Рік тому

      The Stick USA has a rating of 320 pounds I believe. I don’t think it’s a weight rating. I do know it has been mentioned that sometimes the Amsteel wants to “roll” on the tree and the larger diameter helps to prevent that. However I have used both. I am currently using the XL for my platform. I do think the beast tender works slightly better in the stick models.
