    For anybody who doesn't know, Greg is co-owner and founder of Tethrd, but he's still putting out this kind of content to make mobile hunting better for everyone. For the love of the game. And because he's a Good Guy. Everybody, be like Greg.

      aww shucks...I'm blushing. Real Talk...I just love this stuff. I'm one of the lucky guys that gets to follow his passion...and earn a living doing it. Hopefully I can pay it forward. The other things is I get to hunt A LOT. I mean A LOT. I know what gear works and what gear sucks. I try to pass that on to save other guys the trouble. Thanks for watching & the comment. Means a lot to me.

    I rappeled down in my ESS tonight using the Madrock Safeguard and it worked fantastic. I think you ought to get John Eberhart a rappel rope and Madrock Safeguard, he'll love it and it could be good to have in an emergency situation if he needs to get down quickly and safely. He may not love it, but he could learn to love it !!!

    I made the same type of aider with 1/8 amsteel. A gutted piece of paracord runs from the top of the tube on my one stick and I can pull the aider inside the tube for storage. It’s always there and not in the way when not being used. Add a small piece fuel hose and reflective tape for safety.

    Not wearing a sleeping bag with saddle. What other options are there and what might we expect in the future to stay warm saddling hunting? The main issue is where the bridge lifts up on the outer jacket and allows the cold air inside. Please advise, thank you…

    Hey Greg, love your content, really helps a lot of people, enjoy your stuff. made some 18" aiders out of 1/8 Amsteel. My question is does the bury bear the weight of the locked Brommel knot? I thought the locked Brommel bore the weight of the load. Not sure if I got the length of the bury long enough. Asking for my peace of mind.

    • @G2Outdoors
      @G2Outdoors  2 роки тому

      So I'm definitely not an expert here, I'd ask a splicing professional to get the right answer. But the way I understand it is both the locked brummel and the bury are holding weight. When you put tension on the rope it squeezes the bury and pulls against the lock at the same time. My assumption would be the lock is doing more of the work with the bury playing a supporting role. Again...I'm not a professional and can't say for sure. That's just my best guess.

    Is there a reason to make the loops like this rather than tying a good knot?

    • @RealRadNek
      @RealRadNek Рік тому +1

      knot is weaker, although I don't think you have to worry about Amsteel breaking even if you tie a knot, knots can slip some as they settle, and a knot simply looks ugly. Why not take a few extra minutes to make it look good and solid with no slippage?

  • @flipup8539

    Granted understandably that larger diameter rope means more weight it can handle, but why did you choose 1/4” over 1/8” ?

    • @G2Outdoors
      @G2Outdoors  2 роки тому +2

      2 Reasons.
      #1 I had it in my garage (that's the main reason lol)
      #2 it's easier to show how to splice with larger diameter rope. The smaller stuff is harder to use for demonstration.
      As long as you're comfortable with the weight/size of the 1/8"...it should work the same.

    Hey Greg! I have seen the camo tape on your S Biners and hero clips, it looks like a fuzzy version of camo from tape. Can you tell me what that stuff is? It looks like it’s nice and soft as well..
