Great video. Terrible terrible title for this video. My first read based on the title.. was actually to avoid this video. I understand butter like many other good fats can be incredibly healthful. I understand you want to call out "trick" therapies or over simplified ways of looking at things, but this title does not convey the real message that your guest and I presume you wanted to convey. This video is really about how to achieve a healthy endocrine system and that is through a high fat diet, and one of a number of very very healthful fats is Tallow, Butter, Cocunut.. etc. etc. Like so many youtubers there is some desire to create sensationalized video titles. Please make your titles more informative less sensational.

@@LifeIsWonderful675 Lol. I've retooled my diet AGAIN. started eating some veggies (low oxylate type,) because my constipation and bowel issues were terrible with a carnivore diet. About a month ago I Gave up coffee and started eating Whole yogurt. All the inflammation in my feet went away and my knees are Waaaay better!. I eat fat with my meat and some butter with various vegetables, but I'm not eating an extra amount. I had a lot of problems with I think was oxylate dumping. At this point it's hard to tell what is helping me. Was it giving up coffee or adding yogurt? Hard to tell. I don't miss the Coffee. Guess it was just a 43 year habit. • @RedGyl
      @RedGyl 11 місяців тому +41

@@jenniek8391 It's a problem that people are taught that gender and personality or preferences are the same. Gender is primarily another word for biological sex, not how one looks or feels. Boys and girls have always come with a variety of personalities and talents, and that is fine. It is a problem to try to shame and/or force all of society to change in a way that causes so much unnecessary confusion and discord for the sake of individuals who need less confusion and discord, themselves.

I had increased my fat and was eating a stick of butter…but I lowered the protein level. I’m a woman over 50….I didn’t lose weight. But I didn’t gain weight…but my depression was better…which was better anyway being carnivore…but it got even better on the higher fat. After 3 months of maintaining weight with upping fat…I decided to lower fat and did more like 70/30. Weight loss activated rather quickly. I personally seem to have to be more mindful of calories…maybe my age…maybe my multiple autoimmune illnesses I deal with, than some people on carnivore. But increasing fat absolutely help me with healing…sleep was better, skin was better and depression was better! But I feel that I can do healing high fat for a month…& then 70/30 for a month or two for weight loss. I’ve been doing this, more on than off (holidays and social situations were difficult for me in the beginning) and I feel better and can do more than I did 10 yrs. ago! Fabulous interview! Will be one year into my carnivore journey in a couple of days, I've been getting so confused with so much different info lately... Maybe I watch too much content! This interview has given me a great deal of understanding for continuing my healing and weight loss journey. Totally agree with being in tune with your body, I now know why I get (rarely anymore) irritable and can pin point it to something I most probably shouldn't have eaten the day before! 58 yr female, lost 3.5 stone in the first 4 months, no more brain fog, diabetes, IBS, migraines, stiff joints... ✊

🎯Right there w/you jroo~ which is why it's so helpful to hear from those who are actually putting into practice the science & data that forms their own experience.
I think what helps me most when I'm feeling confused from taking in so much content is to remember that it's often experimental, & cannot all apply to me~yet the basics do, now that I understand how our systems function. Dr. Bright has gathered so much info over the years & has a way of keeping it simple & easy to implement~ which means I retain it, & that can be a challenge🤣Having that base of understanding also makes it easier to filter through the other content I'm taking in.
🌟Well done on so many health benefits btw~ not to mention 3.5 stone, wow! I'm also 58, eating this way almost 2 yrs, yet the scale would not budge until just recently. I have also learned I was undereating & over exercising until recently- & not by much, but it was enough to confuse my body, go figure. I've whined about the weight, but I've been so grateful for all the other benefits (energy/clarity/mood/etc) I can't imagine ever going back, even if I never lost a pound. So grateful for access to knowledge!

      I don't know.
The one constant pattern emerging in any kind of research, whether it concerns microbes, animals or plants, is that temporary stressors are extremely benefitial.
Whether they come in the form of calorie restriction, temperature exposure or exercise, while chronic stessors are extremely detrimental, temporary ones seem to just be stimulative.
We restrict water in order to encourage the development of a good root system in plants, current longevity research restricts calories to encourage efficient cell building in simpler organisms and the only working methods we have found to stave of mental and physical decline in aging is by working against it throughout our lives. We are also built by nature to be long distance runners.
If someone is healing, it may very well be the best approach but the idea of avoiding any stress to our system at all seems to me, in light of not only research but the experience we carry from previous generations, to be a recipe for weakness.
By all means heal that broken leg until it is fixed but if you refuse to use it while it is just uncomfortable, you won't be using it properly again.

I agree. We need stress, in smaller doses. That's how we grow. In early child development, which is my scope of practice, and in neuroscience, we recommend the 80/20 rule. Lots of repetition and practice (comfort zone), then stretch yourself 20% of the time. True for physical strength building, learning to ride a bike, piano, reading, talking, crawling ... 80/20 seems 'ideal.' But, first come into it from a healthy place ... children who are fighting leaky gut, nasal congestion, low tone muscles, poor sensory processing are NOT AVAILABLE TO LEARN, GROW OR DEVELOP ... they must heal first, then build on skills. Hello thank to both of you, it is very interesting but for berries the anti-nutrients can have various effects on the absorption of minerals and other nutrients, but they are usually present in small amounts.
Oxalates - Found in berries like strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, oxalates can bind to calcium and other minerals, reducing their absorption.
Phytates (Phytic acid) - Present in small amounts in some berries, phytates can inhibit the absorption of minerals such as iron, zinc, and calcium.
Tannins - Found in certain berries, tannins can interfere with the absorption of iron and other nutrients.
Lectins - Though more common in legumes and grains, lectins can be present in some berries and can affect nutrient absorption and gut health.
Saponins - While mostly found in legumes, saponins can also be present in some berries and can interfere with nutrient absorption.
    Have a nice day.

I'm still not sure regarding iodine. I gather we need to take lugals 15% and take two drops under our tongue everyday?? Does anyone know if that is correct?
I'm curious too as to where she lives in Italy such that she can go out to the ocean daily. I imagine in the winter it's too cold. Also she alludes to different parts of her life and what she was doing but I wish she could put it together as a HER STORY so we can see how she's evolved. It sounds to me like she was incredibly intense and very radical and over the top when she was young and she has made a 180 over time. I would be curious as to what it was really like on a year-to-year basis to live her life. .
I say that also because when she says the extreme things she did, such as eating 500 Calories daily and running 10 miles a day etc, I can't relate to that because I'm a very moderate person. I always use my common sense . I never listened to the idioticies that we were being fed and so actually I haven't changed much since I was young. I would say-- not at all.
In addition, I do not believe in 100% carnivore diet and yet I do find these things interesting and I'm going to increase the amount of meat in my diet. I'm not a good cook and so I usually can't make my meat taste very good but that's my fault. I do tend toward what they call a Mediterranean diet which is pretty much how I like to eat. I gather her adult kids and husband are all 100% carnivores. I would love to hear HER STORY from very young to now -- a middle-aged woman with grown children, living -- not in the States, let alone the South-- but rather in a beautiful part of Europe.

My forward-thinking doctor suggested I try carnivore. Although I was initially very dubious, I went carnivore SLOWLY, spent 2 months slowly introducing meat once a week, then 2 weeks carnivore plus a banana oat milk smoothie for 2 weeks then full carnivore 4 months ago. Oxalate dumping was intense on day 3, peeing what felt like shards of glass, then at 3, 6 and 12 weeks I developed the most irritating itchy scabby sores on my lower scalp that when I scratched them were filled with golden crystals but that seems to be it, all my former illnesses are now gone, I'm symptom free and finally off the biologic meds that were the only thing keeping me out of the wheelchair I'd been in when RA first hit me. They were sent out of the Garden because they knew sin, evil and God is Pure Spirit, Light and darkness cannot have fellowship with evil or darkness. Light repels darkness. God cannot be around darkness. Adam and Eve were now of this world and would start eating meat to sustain their body which is in human form now. So? At what point in life can one honestly measure? What are the metrics appropriate for you? What your doctor is saying is, 'even though you feel fine and are optimally healthy mentally and physically, there's still stress in the system causing some sort of imbalance'?
IOW, How do you tell an olympic competition skater when he/she is neck and neck with their opponent to reduce their stress levels'? Or a heavyweight boxer? Or a formula one driver?
Stress runs through the system 24/7/365. We would be dead if we couldn't generate stress in certain amounts. That said, 'stress' and 'tension' are usually interchangable.
I guess what I'm saying is, we're too dependent on medical technology to steer us toward optimum health for the most part. And that each of us need to take more responsibility for our own good health by staying out of the doctor's office and the hospital.

@@peterboytRaKs Re the hypothetical dr saying: "even though you feel fine and are optimally healthy mentally and physically, there's still stress in the system causing some sort of imbalance" - if someone feels fine and optimally healthy mentally and physically my hope is they ignore any dr telling them to stress over stress! I think most of us have stories of such ill health that we went to the dr out of desperation. My experience was that I suddenly got so weak I could no longer work out or even do housework that required much exertion, so I went to the dr thinking I had an infection. When she started in on the meditation angle I knew she was all wet. I went the medical route for anemia treatment and ended up debilitated (I'm sure that if I'd continued the protocol it would've outright killed me). Alternative practitioners pulled me back from the brink, but I spent 2 years unable to walk farther than the bathroom. Extreme adrenal fatigue, labeled Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Gradually I regained some semblance of health. I finally started carnivore 12w ago hoping to recover true vitality, and am having encouraging success. My experience has left me absolutely unwilling to trust the mainstream medical system for anything but broken bones. My own measure of how I'm doing is how I feel, how energetic I am. I hope we can all get back to that fundamental human freedom/responsibility.

I definitely burnt myself out with cardio - was using a calorie counter in my heart rate monitor and couldn’t leave the gym until I had burned 1,500 cals… if I didn’t meet that number it rolled over to the next day. A few times, I spent 6hrs in multiple spin classes to achieve whatever I needed to meet the week’s requirements. And that’s how you screw up your body! Injuries, tears, massive weight gain despite excessive working out, thyroid destroyed. That was 15yrs ago now, still have issues but feel well enough to get back to weight lifting and though i still like spin, am sticking strictly to 15min sessions only a couple times a week. Thank you!

    • @karenhampton1111
      @karenhampton1111 Рік тому +1

@1588chrissy same here I worked out excessively. So, If you still struggle with weight, try leaving the cardio alone all together and just go walking. I as well as many other women have spoke about their bodies were sensitive to any workouts and just needed to rest (it goes into flight or fight mode very easy and goes into hunger mode very easy)
So when I stopped cardio all together, went for walks and performed light yoga and pilates my weight improved (with the elimination of dairy and I would have 1/ 2 cup of black coffee with butter only sometimes.
Now I did start including intermittent fasting but not until I naturally became satisfied with 2mad or OMAD (I didnt force it if I was still hungry then I felt I still needed to heal) once I started fasting, I made sure I ate enough during my feeding window and my weight started dropping off. But before that it had other priorities and that was to heal first. I know Dr. Bright speak against women fasting especially that has hormonal imbalances but there are some doctors that are advocates for IF as long as you are eating healthy and they feel it actually aid in hormornal imbalance. So I just make sure on my days that I am fasting (36 to 48hrs), I have pieces of frozen butter throughput the day. I slowly increased my fasting window. I feel fantastic.

When made properly - Ghee will have no proteins in it. Also, if made properly, no water/moisture.

The bit on Lugol's iodine is absolutely brilliant! I must take issue with her position on pasteurized milk. In the USA, conventional pasteurized milk is also homogenized and in the process of manufacture the milk fat is separated, dessicated under high heat (denatured) and then re-incorporated into the slurry to produce a product that is 99.9% consistent. This results in a thorough and fundamentl alteration of the proteins in that milkfat. And, this is what provokes an allergic/inflammatory response in so many people who are not technically lactose intollerant.
Then there is the issue of "ultra-pasteurization" which is quite frankly an abomination, IMHO.
Her comments on ground beef are eye opening. I strongly prefer chuck roast and steak as my goto cut of beef. It is fatty, flavorful, and generally inexpensive.
I must take issue with her position on wild salmon. Wild salmon and farmed salmon are completely different products. The latter is NOT a food product. It is an abomination. The former is a nearly perfect food for any carnivorous mammal that emerged from the pre-historic sea. The perfect food, IMO, is wild Alaska King Salmon. It is the fattiest variety of salmon. This is the food of kings, IMHO.
I understand the lack of availability of bacon in Italy. But, surely she has heard of guanchale. And, just what do Italian pig farmers do with their pork bellies? As any Phillipino can attest to, pork bellies roasted are magical.
