hi 👋 richard I always enjoy your air test also best wishes to you and mr chippy also the shop where I got my clip board has now gone from paul chapman at east sheen 73's
Excellent on Air test and it did well on HI & Lo Pwr at five mile point, I hope you get better soon and hope it's not the chest infection I got back in January I only got rid of it about 3 weeks ago, anyway look forward to the next video and part 2 of the record player until then 10-10.
I thought I explained & demonstrated that the TNC to SO239 aerial adaptor was the culprit. I was trying to work the radio & hold the power connection in place along with the 'not so good' aerial adaptor. Now if the radio had a proper external power connection, it would have been a great help. Richard, G0OJF, UK
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 Richard, these did come with an external power connector or at least mine did when i purchased it in the late 90's. Still got mine and still use it, the power connector is a piece the slides between the battery and the base of the radio with a power socket on it which can be used to power the radio without the battery attached, or charge the batteries in the case. I got a lead with a power connector and a cigar lighter socket with it and used as a home base with my power supply with cigar socket for a while. The adapter is very easy to lose and have always kept it attached to the radio. Maybe one will show up on ebay?
Hi Richard, I hate Windows 10. I am always updating it. And Windows 11 doesn't seem to be any better. A lot of my programming software isn't supported. I hope your chest infection gets better soon. David M0DUU
Thank you David. I do have older computers as well here that have never been used online & therefore not been updated. For starters I have an A3 flatbed scanner which was £1K....it only works up to Win98, so I use it with a Win98 computer. I have DOS computers, Win 95 & Vista in addition. I've never been able to get on with emulators, probably because I don't know enough about computers. Richard
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 I haven't got a windows 11 computer, a few at our radio club members have them and a lot of the amateur radio programming software isn't supported at the moment. I always thought windows 8 was the best one. Looking forward to your second video on the record player.
Re: you - Feel better! Missed your shows the last few days but take time to get better - radios can wait. Re: W10 - MS seems up to their old tricks - degrade Windows n to get people to move to Windows n+1. I don't do video stuff, but have noticed things like updates randomly failing. The problem for us will be the old "every other is good" will bite us here: XP (w/SP2/SP3), good; Vista, bad; W7, good; W8/8.1, bad; W10, good; W11, presumably bad. Certainly the W11 desktop is bad. Thank you. At least I don't have anything to pay for treatment or medication...apart from a hospital £2 parking fee. I contached the NHS 111 helpline at 5:10 Monday morning. They told me to get a same day appointment with my GP (1 mile away at Ancaster). I emailed my GP practice at 7AM, They got back to me at 9:30AM with an 11:50 appointment. I was 20 minutes seeing someone who prescribed two lots of medication. There is a Pharmacy at the GP practice & by 12:30PM I was home taking medication. Yesterday I was having breathing difficulty so got Mr Chippie to drive me 7 miles to the Urgent treatment centre at Grantham Hospital. I waited 10 minutes to see a Triage nurse who took my BP/heartrate/blood oxygen level etc. Back waiting 12 minutes & a Doctor came out to take me to his room. He decided I needed to be given a steroid injection so I wnt into another room. The nursing Sister stuck a cannula in my arm & a nurse came & started the drug flow for 10 minutes. Then they left me 10 minutes to check I was responding to treament. The Doctor came back with some stereoid tablets to be taken for the next 3 days. A nurse came to remove the canula, and they sent me home. Richard
