This is a Tribute to Cliff Burton, its the last riff or song he wrote before he died on the tour bus. Basically the bus was driving through black ice and the bus flipped, ejecting Cliff and landed on him while flipping. Killed him instantly or at least that's what everyone thinks. RIP Cliff Burton This song makes me cry not only for Cliff Burton but my dad as well
James said he walked about a mile back from the crash in nothing but his underwear searching for that black ice that the driver said caused the accident, but never found any.
No orchestra btw lol those were guitars that you heard with an effect, don’t know how it’s done but it’s a guitar, James actually played that solo and sung the lyrics
its a trick with the volume knob, you hit the string first with volume down and bring it up then back down. So it sounds like a viollen. You can find many vids on it. its a very easy trick to do. Even Children of bodem did it during their neo-classical days.
This is my favorite Metallica (spoken-word) instrumental. This is also my favorite Metallica album. I accept that most people think Master of Puppets is better but THIS is my jam, from beginning to the end. This album was the birth of so many of these progressive metal bands that are now worshipped by people who endlessly shit on Metallica and especially Lars.
Alright, so let me explain You: 1.) "To Live Is To Die" has three "acoustic" parts: INTRO, INTERLUDE (with James Hetfield's guitar solo), and OUTRO!!!!! 2.) This song is them (Metallica's) tribute/homage to them dead friend, bass player Cliff Burton (Funny fact: HE WROTE SOME OF THE LINES JAMES IS SPEAKING HERE!!!) 3.) YOU CAN HEAR THE PAIN IN KIRK'S SOLO!!!!! (But, I think, that James' solo is BETTER than Kirk's one!!!!) 4.) The swelling melodies (on the interlude) are done by guitar and BASS!!!!
I like your reactions. I was 15 and an aspiring guitar player when this cut dropped n ripped my fucking head off. Immersed myself in Metallica for years. Stands the test of time. Even some of their newer stuff that gets a bad wrap. "Holier than thou" is a great start to the "new style" riffs.... subbed bro....
Mr. Scary by Dokken Hella underrated man you must listen. Also I'm not gonna lie I use to hate and justice for all when I first heard it. The only songs I really likes were one and Dyers Eve but in hindsight it's a wonderful album. I guess my tastes have changed
@@caseybrown4360 (“When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives.”) was written by German poet Paul Gerhardt, but was erroneously attributed to Burton in the liner notes. The second half of the speech (“All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?”) was written by Burton. James just read it and use them as lyrics.
Don't ask for a drummers option bro you didn't get shit from this song your literally just sitting there filming yourself watch this then nothing more you don't go into detail about nothing except "it's fire" "it's dope"

The strings sound in the finger picking part is done by electric guitar using volume swells on single notes.
At this part, James is playing his GUITAR SOLO!!!
RIDE THE LIGHTNING next please after ...and justice for all

This is also the bands tribute to Cliff.
That's Jim Martin of the band Faith No More doing the vocal recitation
Ooh yeah!
You must check the Scrram Inc. version of this . You can find the UA-cam channel.
The Metallica covers with symphonic orchestra are incredibly cool.
Nylon string acoustic at the beginning and end
How many families had to listen to this song at a Metallica fan funeral?
Nylon string acoustic guitar
Good reaction Johnny 🤘

Ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride ride please xd
React to Black Sabbath bro, you will not regret it, metallica was very inspired by them, "into the void" or"iron man"
I have a black sabbath reaction on the channel and ive heard iron man great songs
You should do the entire ‘South of Heaven’ album by Slayer 🤘
Ride the lighting broooo
Have you ever heard acoustic guitar before?
Also one of the rare Metallica song not in E minor (ok they have many others, but at that time I'm pretty sure they didn't do that a lot)
The "orchestra" you refer to is all guitars!
Do ride the lightning next (the album)
"These Mfers got a whole entire orchestra"
Well, yes but actually no ;)
Those lyrics are james
@DarkFalken Cliff actually.
