@@wadeyates6737 i cliff wrote the last two lines before his passing. Its already confirmed by the whole metallica band. Those two lines are even carved in cliff’s tombstone.

Every instrumental song by Metallica is a masterpiece. Most inspiring thing is, that they wrote all this shit so young.... it's really impresive
Suicide and redemption is the only instrumental they wrote when they were older and mature, and also is impressive

This piece is Metallica grieving over the tragic death of their bass player Cliff Burton. They’re expressing their pain, grief, anger, and sorrow. You can hear their feelings through the music. It’s a beautiful tribute. 😥
For me... Kirk's guitar (or not) is calling: 5:00 - "we're missing You ...", 5:28 - "we will never forget (about) You", 6:10 - violine sounds (dolphine) - "Why You". You = Cliff. I feel this like that.
I don't see a comment pointing it out, so here goes: that 'strings/violin' part is actually the guitars being played with volume swells. It's a fairly common technique I guess, but it sounds epic here.

Song goes through the 5 stages of anger .. 1st part of the song is denial ,than it kicks in with the heavy angry tone, bargaining, depression and I believe acceptance part is the slow melodic part

So glad you did this one! Truly one of Metallica's greatest, most emotionally impactful compositions off of what I would say is their best album (despite them essentially muting the bass as a sort of hazing/"you won't replace our brother" message towards Jason Newstead.)
I know you've done My Friend of Misery as well (another amazing song!) and that's another instance where the members of Metallica kinda treated Jason like garbage...the song (or perhaps just the bass line, I forget) was originally written by Jason to be used as the melodic instrumental Metallica had been famous for up to that point, having included one on each of their first 4 albums (if you count Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth)). But they basically shut down that idea.

@@jeremyjohnson9222 I don´t care what you don´t care, but NO, in studio, it WAS Jason. He used the same effects and pedals that Burton used for the intro of Damage Inc. Was it doubled on guitars? Probably; but the main effect is bass with pedals.
