This is perfect. Multiple players at one time. A budget friendly piano lab.

I realize this video is over 5 years old, but DAMN - I'M SO GLAD I FOUND IT!!!!! I'm a baby when it comes to the music world, but I'm starting to go from crawling to trying to stand up now. I have a ton of new equipment researched - added to wish lists - and slowly filtering in here over a period of months. Well, one of my earliest purchases was a bad ass Behringer mixer - (Oops!) :-\ I don't know if I would have gotten it now that I see that a LOT of the newer equipment DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TRS-JACKS - WTF?!?!
But I think I can still grow into it and use it over time. I've been eyeballing a guitar and maybe even a bass - both of which would take another track on my mixer. Add a few mics - more tracks gone. So I should still get my use out of it eventually, but that's where the questions started coming in.... NO AUDIO JACKS - ONLY MIDI & USB - SO HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO CONNECT ALL THIS STUFF??? OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE ARE DOING IT, BUT THEY AREN'T LAYING OUT SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS! :'(
Then I came across THIS video - and BINGO!!! AHHHhhhh..... OK - SO THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE!!! :-D AWESOME!!!
I'm surprised to see so many arrogant snots on this channel blasting the company for this video - asking why we should buy this product, and proudly declaring how we can "daisy Chain" keyboards using midi and don't need this. DAMN... YOU GUYS SOUND LIKE TOTAL DICKS!!! smh
As I've said - I'm no EXPERT on this stuff (yet), but with the little knowledge I've obtained so far - let me try to outline why this video (and the other one connecting a bunch of controllers to a PC) was SO KEY!!
So as I understand it - Yeah, Midi can DAISY CHAIN keyboards together, but after 3 links you start to run into LATENCY problems, and need to run them through a MIDI Interface to eliminate the latency. At that point, you're looking at maybe a dozen cables or more + your Midi Interface.. which then connects to your PC. That's not only messy as hell, but it's VERY EXPENSIVE if you're using top shelf cables with a top of the line interface. I'm relieved to find that I don't need MIDI if I have USB. I thought I was going to have to use both at first. I was dreading buying all those damn cables.
Especially since my research showed that USB replaces and FAR SURPASSES MIDI in regards to data transfer rates & speed, and practically eliminates latency issues completely - especially if you're running through one of these devices... rather than piggy-backing into multiple synths. USB cables also only cost about $5-$10! lol :) NICE!!
This video was also KEY, because a lot of the newer gear I have priced out DOESN'T EVEN HAVE MIDI PORTS - AT ALL - they're USB ONLY - THUS NO DAISY-CHAINING... NONE!!!! That means you'd HAVE to have a setup like this in order to use all that stuff together. So I think people need to show some respect to the man's work here. :) So stop being DICKS to people. While you guys are touting the power of your MIDI setups, my research on a MULTITUDE of music & audiophile sites all agreed that MIDI is essentially a COMPLETELY OBSOLETE FORMAT, and only necessary to utilize if you have a "VINTAGE" synth you need connected. They actually used the word (VINTAGE) lol.
I'm sure when MIDI phases out, they will add a "Daisy Chain Port" to be used solely for controlling other synths, but it's obvious that MIDI will soon follow VHS & Beta into obscurity. The USB tech in this video will be MANDATORY in coming years. This is the FUTURE! :-)

Nice 80s sound. I'd like to hear the full version if you have it uploaded somewhere.

You ought to do a video showing how you mic'd your voice and the limiter/compressor you used. There are hundreds of youtubers who could learn a thing or two about that!

I am trying to learn how to MIDI-sync an iPad with a hardware synth. people have told me to use the iConnect MIDI. That's why I looked at this video. It has not addressed the MIDI sync question. As far as I know, you don't even need the IConnect just to hook up a bunch of controllers. Just the USB hub is fine for that.

is there a way or an app to connect multiple keyboard wirelessly

  • @auxlen

A more useful demo in my opinion would be showing how to control mulitple synths from one keyboard....why you would need to have so many keyboards when you can split the midi on one keyboard?

can i use android tablet with the same app??

  • @bogey5155
    @bogey5155 6 років тому +2

A lot of you guys aren't getting the usefulness of this application. Instead of splitting a single keyboard, you can use dedicated keyboards for each sound on a separate MIDI channel. Then, you don't have to try to remember where split points are on a single keyboard because a separate keyboard "has" the sound that is on a MIDI channel. I find this easy to program on a multitimbral synth than programming split points. And as one comment has it, you can have multiple hands playing simultaneously, which itself has interesting possibilities.

what model replaced the iConnectMIDI, since its no longer produced.

  • @kaybhee6

IF 4 hands can play at same time, then this is good

  • @paolosommaruga1521

I can do the same with 1 _single_ keyboard! What was expected was an explanation of how to play "simultaneously" at least 2 kbrds like on a church organ ...

Agreed...an odd demo...i wanted to see routing to mulitple synths or modules.

Where's the connectivity for syncing real, legacy MIDI sequencers? Like the Korg Electribe EMX, which doesn't have a USB.

"behindhand"...? dont worry for that :-) I mean i am ok, just "In the process" for "multiple midi over usb" so just asking you help in that. Can u give me couple of tips? is there a "specific way" to connect hubs? if u can add me on fb:Charly Controtempo. i will appreciate and share my :-) tnx
