So i can attach i phn to that camera kit to go to usb hub n power it by a mobile smartphone charger..n add the melo audio midi commander n berhinger 202hd interface to usb hub...will this work??

      Hey there my friend. Yes, if you are looking to power a powered hub using a power bank or portable battery you can definitely do this, but you will need an adapter for the power cable. Take a look at this video where I show how to create this sort of setup - ua-cam.com/video/k2LpLjHnKGw/v-deo.html

      Hey Pete.
      I have an iPad Air 3rd gen.
      (Lightning connector)
      Scarlet 2i2 3rd gen.
      Oxygen61 midi keyboard
      I have the camera connector/adaptor and an insignia usb 3.0 powered hub.
      I want to record my midi keyboard and then run my vocals through the 2i2 and monitor with headphones plugged into the 2i2 all into garageband.
      I have followed the steps you have on the video Multiple times. I have plugged and unplugged multiple times and cannot get them all to work together.
      What am I missing here?
      Could this just be the insignia 3.0 powered hub I am using possibly?
      I am running out of hair to pull out!

    One of the best, Prof. Here is your low-cost home studio config with incredible recording ability. Pete could have plugged in a guitar instead of a mic into the Steinberg. I will immediately change my recording setup as a result of this video. Didn't think the keyboard could be always in the loop because I didn't realize the powered hub would power it, a Game Changer! Pete, you've shown us all what a minimal recording config might look like. This is really important guys! Thank you.

    • @peteandpuy
      @peteandpuy 5 років тому +1

      I needed to power the Steinberg with the 5v plug. Just plugging it into the powered hub alone didn't work. Did you have to as well? You have a newer model.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 років тому

      Cheers for the kind words my friend. There should be a switch on the back of your Stienberg that switches it between bus power and 5V DC?

    • @peteandpuy

      @@PeteJohnsMusic I do have that switch but my Steinberg wouldn't work without powering it with the 5V connection. The USB into the powered hub as well. Odd that you don't have to. It works fine, it just needs to be powered. You have a different model of the UR12.

    With mixers you mean studio monitors right? Your mixers/monitors are connected to the audio interface, is this required or just recommended because it enhances the quality? I did some research regarding it, please correct me if I’m mistaken. They say they don’t recommend studio monitors working with ios without audio interface? I mean I’m not interested in recording vocals or anything thru microphone that’s why I’m asking if an audio interface is really necessary for ios and studio monitors. Now you have seen me last few days asking questions haha thanks. One more. I'm planning on purchasing UR12 after watching your video. Is UR12 able to handle midi keyboard as well? Also, when you connected Tendak to the UR22C, I'm assuming you used usb A to usb C. If UR12 works with midi, I'm assuming I will need to use usb A to usb mini(?) Or whatever it's called?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic

      Hey there. So the UR12 doesn’t have direct MIDI support. If you’re using USB MIDI keyboards you just connect these as separate devices to the powered hub. You can then use them together when recording as I show in the video. The Steinberg UR22C has MIDI in and out if you’re using an older style MIDI keyboard - ua-cam.com/video/2BW1tqOqJ9k/v-deo.html

      Alas no. I’ve tried before and they all only provide one port which is data compatible. The other is power only. I think this is a limitation of the Apple lightning standard that there is no way to send multiple Lightning based data signals. At least that’s been my experience. Would be very happy to be proven wrong however!!
