I was wishing for this one. Della is still one of my all-time favorite entertainers. She was so incredible in "HARLEM NIGHTS", "A THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE", and "TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL." My grandmother was a big fan of hers too. May she continue to rest in beautiful peace and serenity.
I discovered Della Reese’s night club act at a National Black Theatre Festival where she gave the audiences personal invitations to watch and support “Touched by an Angel,” which would not have had the success it had without her. Though she had a long and accomplished career ,it was sad to see Della Reese go. May she rest in eternal peace 🙏🏾

I grew up in a community in Chicago of transplanted Choctaw adults, from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, which was our original lands before colonization. Mahalia is a Choctaw name, and the legendary singer came to our church many times, because she and Rev Body, our pastor grew ip together down south.

My Parents grew up with Della Reese in the same neighborhood in Detroit ❤️💛💙🧡💜
Della was actually my cousin. My grandfather's relative. I am not sure if she was his cousin or his neice. I just remember the autographed photos of her and his stories about her when I was kid. Since my family was never close to that side of the family, I never met her. I tried to write her many years ago hoping to meet her, but I never heard back. I appreciate this video as I really knew nothing about her after my grandpa passed away and I would have liked to have known her.
