I'm 63. I grew up listening to Sarah Vaughn. I was blessed to see Sarah Vaughn in concert and Ella Fitzgerald in concert back in 1989. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Sarah's passing not long after I had been to her concert. When I saw Ella, she was frail, had to be helped out onto the stage, and sang the whole concert while seated. Later, she had a leg amputated due to diabetes and passed a few years after that. Amazing that even in poor health, these ladies were phenomenal. Both ladies' voices were a gift from God to them and to us. RIP. 🧡🧡🙏🙏

And can you imagine a full adult who has become accustomed to a certain lifestyle all of a sudden finally being put in charge of their own money? We have come a long way as women but still very far to go.

Sarah Vaughan isn't talked about enough compared to other Jazz greats like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. I love Sarah Vaughan. My favorite song of hers is "Misty". And I love "Tenderly". I would like to see a biopic on her.

Sarah is one of my favorite Jazz singers! Her voice was so smooth. I had heard about the drug usage; nevertheless, I didn’t link it to her vocal abilities. I can’t believe that she thought that was the reason for her success vocally. Wow! Unfortunately, it caught up with her. RIP Sarah💐🌷🌹🌸🌺

@@banterbabe start with an old school bombshell. Personally, I am obsessed with Diahnn Carrol Dynasty looks. That’s usually my go to going out style with a modern twist. Casual think Dorthy Dandridge Carmen. I definitely give Hillary Banks (Karen Parsons). These ladies are some of my inspiration. Incorporating heels, even kittens, amplifies any look. Brooches, pearls in fun ways, hair clips, gloves, a red lipstick always for me, belts…. Pick a color scheme you love and clothes that look great on you. I love old school slip dresses as well as babydoll. Accessories are your friend. I wear my hair natural and definitely pull out old school styles. My makeup is definitely more classic. I focus more on skincare and flex with 90s style light glam (think Envogue) always a red lip, my favorite! I definitely stand out in a room. It’s definitely for me but, it’s also to give someone else something pretty and put together by me, to enjoy and take in. I love fashion and have been really curating my style for the past few years. I’m turning 39 in a few months and am really stepping into what sexy is for me in this stage of my life. I feel so good when I get dressed. Clothes tell the story of who “you” are. If you’re a classical lady, embrace it. SHEIN is a great place to get started. Try the Prive, Modly, Frenchy and Decds shops to start. Others will pop up. Just get a feel of your personal style. Happy Styling!

I love listening to jazz while cooking as well and will add Sara Vaughn to my mix. Her story reminds me of Whitney Houston's and Natalie Cole. Her and Whitney were even both from Newark NJ. So many similarities. A comparison video of those singers and their relationships would be great.

One critic in Downbeat magazine said she had the talent of having near perfect diction and the ability to slur notes like a drunken sailor. I think that summed it up nicely.

She's one of my favourite vocalists ever. Thank you. There are so many great Sarah Vaughan recordings, Black Coffee, Just Friends, the album After Hours. The life of a jazz musician back in the day was more like a vocation and she also played piano so she wasn't overusing her voice, I would imagine. I wish you would do a breakdown on Billy Eckstine. He and Sarah had some hits together. Great video as always.
