Im proud of the product, i worked building interiors for holden and ford for 13 years and did my best to deliver a quality product regardless of the limited time to do it
Thankyou. You did great.
This is the type of content we need not same old Barra stuff different motors and different cars
I’m trying to bring more variety and different styles
100% starting to see it mate
Fuck yeah 👍
Fook Barra,, v8 all-day
V8's will destroy Barra no matter what lol
I had a 2015 VF series 2 SV6 wagon. Verrrry nice car. Drove so well great power. Bang for buck with so many bells and whistles. Absolutely loved it.
Agreed
Unless you got big pockets to feed the quite fuel hungry V8 SS, the SV6 wagon is a fantastic all rounder. It's not perfect but its a great car. You can't easily buy wagons anymore, and you certainly wont get a faster one for the money. You still get good power, far more power than any modern SUV, 4cyl/5cyl dual cab, bucketloads of space in the back, heaps of comfort, decent handling and jack-of-all-trades car
V8's aren't even that thirsty you idiot,, we can tell you've never had a v8
Your channel is really gaining some good traction... keep up the hard work.
Thanks, will do!
Keep posting this different content it’s so refreshing!!!
Thanks you
I have a VF SV6 Storm, tuned, OTR, Catback XForce 2..25 but the secret sauce is the Stealth controller, goes like a clapper on sport mode set to 10. On 13 sends you into orbit. Can easily do high 5 on good tyres.
High 5 would be impressive
Those things just send a higher throttle signal to the computer, making your throttle snap open quicker, it doesn't actually give you any more power.
@@danielzanella4185I think that’s still a pretty big thing though, the computer makes the auto very slow off the line to build revs, if the computer is told to open the throttle body faster, it should therefore make quite the difference off the line without actually giving a power increase if that makes sense?
Nice VF love the sound and tuff look I would rather this than any bummed-out falcon.
Interesting review as always, man. Oh yes, with a manual gearbox it would be cooler. I am always a fan of a manual gearbox. It is so much driving fun for me :)
Please go on with your content. Best regards Chris from Germany
Sadly no manuals for the wagon.. but you could manual the sedan or Ute 👏
WHY DO PEOPLE THINK POPS AND CRACKLES MAKE A CAR GO FASTER MY XR6 TURBO IS SILENT BUT DEADLY NO COPS FOLLOWING ME
Too many SV6 Mf’s try to sound like AMG’s with the pops and crackles man , it sounds awful.
People = youths and dumb cunts thirsting for attention.
My F6 is silent until flutter 😤
Not everyone wants speed mate lol there some who like the sound more then some stupid speed ,
I had an auto 2017 SV6 sedan in this colour (Slipstream Blue) and I absolutely loved it
Nice colour
@RossReviewsau imo, the best colour in the VF line-up.
I’ve got the same and I’m on a modding spree. Just hit 30,000kms
I do all of my own tuning and i have a VF SV6 LFX Wagon for towing my race car and the 6L45E don't shift like that thing (you know it shifts) those shifts and their Shift consistencies need work,it is leaving so much on the table in terms of torque multiplication and keeping the big wagon momentum going etc and without being disrespectful being a direct injection combo you'd think that AFR would be leaner more towards 13.0/13.2 etc roughly because you tune a direct injection setup completely different to a port injected motor but every engine is different and it may like it a tad richer
Sounds good...love me a wagon any day
Great stepping stone....as you said...great p plater car
Absolutely
Yes mate it's the perfect daily,it will get you where you need to be with ease & able to pass traffic on the hwy while chewing less petrol same as the N/A Barra, nice one Johnny 👍
One more thing, those E39 ECU's etc are torque based so to get better throttle response and to get it to transmit the power to the ground and get em to really shift spot on and punch through is easy when you know what you are doing
Depends on the tune, my mates vf Ute with the same kids was 5ish seconds with air bags. I want to do otr and intake manifold on my LLT. I’ve already got a full engine back system so hopefully my wagon doesn’t suffer the same issues lol
Great now I won't hear disturbed the same way now😂. I respect VFs quite a bit cos my brother has a ve series 2 which is a decent car tbh. But I also driven a VF Calais and I definitely noticed how more refined and nicer it is. I always wondered how the V6 would go tuned and of course you are the man who happened to find one. You seem to find all the cars that strike my curiosity and that's what I love about this channel. Great review as always 👍
Hopefully we didn’t ruin the song for you🤣
Glad you enjoy the car selection
Great vid as usual. Love the wags but not a huge fan of the front grille. Stock or black edition would’ve looked better I reckon. These VF SV6s are really nice ngl
They are a good car.. I’d actually have one
great looking cars
Agreed
My mates one is quick having work done to and 6 speed it has close on 350 400 hp 3 gear 180 klm
I vouch for the alloy if treated right, definitely not the best sounding or designed but can be a great motor, my vz Ute has served me well
Some get lucky 🍀
Side note I'd buy it. Got an extra Ls3 waiting for it
A stock vf ute boogies so would be interesting to see what a modified one goes like. A good mate of mine had one for his frist car and we had a blast in it. Was such a solid and reliable car, we absolutely hammered it day snd night. Never had a issue.
Another one of my mates had a sv6 ve that was an absolute wepon as well. It must've been a storm or something because i remember him taking a turn on thr frreway at 220 clicks with ease. Had a suspension uograde other than that it was stock. I even remember it keepiny up with me while i was driving my m6 in a small estate.
Good video ross good to see ur well brother. God bless
Thanks mate appreciate you
What exhaust system do you have on it
The chevy ss is platinum now. Low mileage examples go 40 to 60k . G8 gt and if your lucky gxp go for about the sam and it's based on the gen 2 ve I think .
_Nice to see a different angle Ross👍🏽_
BTW: 0-100Kph …. _eco mode on the dash_ 🤔
More to come!
honestly i don’t know how to get the eco off the dash
@@kazepg3d lol, possibly when it got tuned it changed the mode light 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t think it’s an “economy” mode per say, if you go into that tab it shows your fuel economy in a bunch of different ways, as far as I can tell in my vf sv6 that’s all it is ahaha I thought it was an economy mode at first but nothing online about it being so, and when I go into it it’s not like I can change it to say anything else so yeah I think it’s just a tab for fuel economy details. Would love to be wrong and there’s a secret sport mode or something, but not that I can tell 👍
Ordinarily I absolutely can’t stand the local auto commodores with an exhaust but this thing sounds pretty nice. Any idea what exhaust it is. Nice job Ross, good variety
Glad you enjoyed this one 👏
them bangs but oooft, i love my wagon best buy in my life, but not gonna lie my stock VF SV6 with an air hammer intake and modded exhaust and it dose 07.094 seconds hahah
What exhaust system did this car have? Was it just a catback?
I had an sv6 daily, was good, lexus is350 is a good daily v6
Sounds hilarious
Was it tuned by vcm?
It actually sounds pretty good too
Not abd
The VZ alloytecs weren't quite as bad as everyone says. They did require a fair bit more maintenance than the ecotec, but if the maintenance and timing chains were done they lasted a while (it was also a similar situation with the 5 speed auto boxes). The VE alloytecs were apparently worse, especially when it came to timing chain issues.
early VE’s had shocking timing chain issues. Aren’t a bad motor when they’re taken care of and maintained.
@@teejay6342 ah yes the LY7 and the LLT. The timing chain issues were even worse on the 3.0 v6’s somehow
I know with the ve it has an anti abuse feature where it will cut torque because it senses it is trying to do a burnout, I have the 3.0L lfw and mine definitely has that because even with tc off it cuts power a bit, if you turn traction control off and dont try to brake launch it, i find i get a better result, but also a good tuner should be able to get the anti abuse tuned out, or atleast that is what my tuner said they can do when I take mine in, but tbh I am very surprised that it was that slow, my 3.0L wagon does 0-100 in about 7.7 seconds and it is completely stock under the hood and it has 20 less kw and about 60 nm less from factory than the LFX.
Question with the anti abuse feature on ve does that count for manuals because mine doesn’t have a problem launching or doing a burnout did I break that feature hahah
Colour wise, that is very rare and must be very late build Series 1 (Possibly a production/paint pilot vehicle) because the colour looks to be slipstream blue. That wasn't an offical VF Series 1 colour, only became an offical option in Series 2 to replace the Series 1 Perfect Blue. Shame the exterior mods and rims have absolutely ruined it, but each to their own.
Cheers for the info.. I liked the colour didn’t know it was rare
Looks sweet would be cooler in manual tho 😎 great review as always cheers 👍
Yeah I agree.. no manual wagons tho🥲
Foot on break & load up the Transmission on takeoff
I want to see a video of the ZB VXR / Calasi V and wanna see how it compares
I’ll try n find another ZB in future
Anyone know what exhaust this is running? Quite like the sound tbh, has a jdm sound about it. The pops are a bit shit tho aha
The ve you reviewed with the xr6 a while ago with did a 6.5 I’m pretty sure. No engine mods
It might of.. this wagon would not launch well.. felt quick tho on roll
Nobody will ever admit that the attempted Mercedes knockoff was a genuine Holden 🤣
Great video mate it's nice to be reminded that there is other options out there and can be affordable and realistic for the average Joe 👍not all can afford 1000hp Street cars. Yeah wasn't to keen on the noise of this Commy but it looks 👌 mint. I have a soft spot for both Ford & Holden I just think something Holden mastered over Ford is smashing out awesome looking wagons. It's sad obviously some money been spent on pops and crackles still running stock numbers 😕 personally not enough gains for the $$$
Absolutely.. affordable fun cars still can exist
@@RossReviewsau true my man, and your job to un earth these gems
Despite some of the questionable modifications on this example, VF SV6's are a great car and are arguably better daily drivers than a V8 powered Commodore... Much better than the FWD Crossover crap that seems to be all over our roads...
On another note, wouldn't mind seeing a VE vs VF comparison or even a VF vs ZB comparison
Both V8 and V6 suck without changing diff to 3.73s. No point in having all the power if you run out of speed limit or road in front of you.
Yeah nah,, v8's are better all round. Your V6's are good for nothing
@@SupernaturalPowerz If you're fuel conscious or just want something to drive around normally, the V6 is the way to go... I do agree that the V8 is the better car and if I were to buy another Commodore, I would go for the V8 as well... However, the V6 Commodore does deserve more credit than it gets, especially when others are choosing Chinese Crossovers like that new Chery, which looks hideous...
@@MartinJones123 😂 ok thanks for that you're right. I'm just on the troll a bit harder than usual.
Nice video, sounded nice but was a bit of a slouch 0-100. Any plans to do a C43 AMG? been looking at a couple of 2017 models, they claim sub 5s 0-100 be good to see you put one through its paces.
Yeah they're speedy man, tune if you want a bit extra. Kept up with our tuned m235i (360whp, 1.45 tonne)
I would love to try one of them…
Best mod on a Alloytech is keep a factory exhaust🤣
Agreed!🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
NiC3 Sound
👀🤣
I have a series 2 VF SV6, with hi flow cats, standard exhaust, OTR and proper custom tune - runs mid 13 sec 1/4 mile.
This thing clearly had a average tune. Should easily do high 5, low 6 sec 0 to 100.
Love your content - peace ✌️
How much power was it pushing?
I really don't care what a v6 will do,, its a v6 lol
This engine also had 200k kms
I think a low km none wagon would do low 6 or less
197 kw at the wheels@@vxsr33
I’ve got nothing else to say other than MARK!!!
🥸
I wonder if turning off the traction and ESP would have got it off the line better. Also there is no way I could live with that exhaust.
Not a bad car but not by any means "special". Great car for a P plater or someone on a budget. LFX is definably a good motor but unless you're held back by P plate restrictions the L77 is the better choice
5.4 ,8.5 compression. Try paper filter faster.
I was hoping it would sound different. Nope! Cant get rid of it can you?
🤣🤣🤣😩😩😩😩
Jeez...6.6 to 100k isn't bad. ..i must be getting old 😛
It’s reasonable but I was hoping low 6
yeah nup i have a sv6 NEVER PUT A EXHAUST ON A V6 JUST DONT its better without it lol
Only retards do that shiet to a v6
I mighta been crazy for that one 😆
VE Commodore is a solid choice if it’s a series II post MY12
You have extremely limited taste like a loser
LFX it’s ok then
Yep! Z series are a good shout for the best looking VE’s
whats your opinion on bmw m240i 2020 ?
I’ve heard good things but not driven one yet
The only really good quick v6 from holden is the one in the zb tbh
Ouch 😓
It does help it’s the LGX though, literally the factory twin turbo version of the LFX, I’m pissed Holden could not use that engine , despite the LFX legit being designed by Cadillac and Holden in the first place because the previous GM LLT was not good enough
@wizzfizz6800 the twin turbo v6 literally wouldn't fit in the zb the lgx Was the biggest engine holden/buick could fit in there
The car sounds a lot better inside than outside, maybe its always been like that and only now i understand why people put exhausts on v6s
The mic is recording out side too so idk
Needs to be a manual to make it really feel good. I like the sound... very much like a BMW. Looks great... always like a wagon.
It’s a solid platform these
@ 8:55 sounds like it has a flat tyre 😅
Ross review my car, it makes 400hp to the wheels and its an sv6
shoot me a message on social media! keen
Would be great to also see a tuned xr6 na review now pls!!!
I’ve done them before if you search the channel
@@RossReviewsau easy thanks
@@RossReviewsau cant seem to find it lol 😅
These motors can make decent power but they need a lot of work as they are just way too soft in standard form. Why Holden couldn't or didn't just use the higher output versions of these engines they used in the States in the Cadillac's is anyone's guess, probably cost. A VE-VF wagon even in v6 is still a big heavy car so a mid 6 second 0-100 time is pretty good. Although I wouldn't have one in an auto.. would have to be a manual even if it meant doing the conversion.
They were down tuned unfortunately for the SIDI tech , and Holden knew that if these engines were tuned aspowerful as the ones in the Camero, which is legit the same engine , well mate they wouldn’t be p plate legal …. And more previous customer complaints on fuel efficiency forced their hand into only making them 280 odd hp :( . I drove my mate’s manual VF sv6, it’s freaking fuuuuun, handles way smaller than it really is , only thing that throws me off is the foot handbrake
Do a tuned bf xr6
I have before
@@RossReviewsau Na?
Typical W.A Armadale bogan mobile 😂 but whatever rocks your boat.
I love bogan mobiles 👑😤
Once again like I say for any commodore with the 6 speed auto - needs 3.73s!
Big help that would be
@@RossReviewsau Yeah it's used to be a common mod here before VE's came out. People seem to think that getting the 6 speed meant that having any gears would make it optimal. Unfortunately that's not how it works with torque in each gear vs the speed you are doing. There is room for improvement. Plus we only drive at 100/10kmph vs the US who do 120 and 130 on their highways. Having a bit more gear isn't a big deal here compared to other places in the world.
Direct Injection causes carbon build up, it possibly needs intake walnut blasting....
200,000kms probably doesn’t help
Maybe just too used to my 4.4 BMW V8 sound, but that thing sounds a bit flakey even for a six.............I would back of the bark a bit............
Man I need to get a better exhaust on my v8, this gives it a run for its money on sound 😂😂😭
Wait 9:13, wtf
Also Lexus isf or Vf Ss?
Disturbed Down with the sickness 🤣 (not stricken 💀)
If only someone would put a roots blower on these🤔
We need you guys to try that🤌🤌🤌
There’s a big single turbo kit Revhigh do, expensive but I’m waiting for someone to bite the bullet and do it. same guys that did the centrifugal supercharger on my mate Karl’s Red VF Ross already reviewed
Barra na over the holden 6 any day.
The difference between those v6s and the inline barra is torque v6 has no torque.
Correct
It’s not an insane difference . The v6 has more 30 more hp though to make up for the 30odd engine nm of torque it has compared to the Barra 195
and the barra has no power, whats your point?
Best designed wagons ever produced. Shame the timing belts on V6s were duds.
Beautiful cars eh
It’s the timing chains, and unless you suck at maintaining your car or changing the filter between every major service for these engines then you shouldn’t encounter any bs, unless the previous owner didn’t treat it any good.
Personally I would just buy the eight, less hassle😅.
If you can afford it
Eco mode
I’m biased for Holden, but I don’t think the vf v6 will stand up to the modified harsh life as much as what a ford barra would
Nah…. Seen plenty go for a long time. They just shouldn’t be thrashed too often. N/A Barra’s have their own issues as well…
V8's destroy karenbarra
What engine is it
LFX
This is better than that girls crappy v6 vy thing lol. If that was a guys car it would of copped so much hate lol
“Ecotec all the way” yeah mate I’m sure your 130kw and crap 4 speed auto is top tier mate
Lucy has a V8 now 👑
@@RossReviewsau good haha
@@wizzfizz6800 lol who and what are you talking about 😁
That gearbox does not seem happy
Agreed, sounds like it's shifting really slowly
Lower diff gears for the launch and a quieter exhaust could make this a good all rounder.
3.45 LSD is perfect for these imo, 3.7 LSD if it’s manual
Would use almost the same fuel as the V8. So much easier to buy the eight😅.
Definitely 💯
@@perpetualgrin5804 it really wouldn’t. These easily guzzle less than an 8 ….
The front is ugly ngl
🤣 each their own
You gotta be invested in them to appreciated them I reckon. It's OK I say, for a GM product.
@@phoenixrising7047 I think he's referring to the mods done to the front end, and I tend to agree...
@@MartinJones123 yeah i like the stock front end. The aftermarket one that this has is weird.
@@MartinJones123 OK. The original one is far from a thing of beauty but I think admirers have grown to like it. This being Holden country atm in this section not the best place to rag on the product I spose 🤣
Pretty sure the mitsubishi magnas and 380s accelerate faster
Plus no timing chain to keep you up at night😅
I’m so keen to review a Magna 😓 why is no one coming on
It'd be pretty embarrassing getting beaten by a Magna...but not as embarrassing as driving a Magna 😛👍
Here's a Magna 0 to 100k

Hell no…. Unless it’s a Ralliart Magna or TMR 380
another one
Would love to see this car with twin turbos
Me too 👀👀👀
Defo some out there, problem is the only wide available twin turbo kit, is by GOAT performance and they’re not great, lots of parts need to be upgraded to be good. Someone sold their alto grey SV6 TT Ute recently this year for 30k, he put a lot of money into it tho
Would love to not see this car
MANG MANG!
🇦🇺🤘
Stick that exhaust where the sun don’t shine is it don’t sound like a V8 I’d rather not hear it at all love look of the VF
Diff gears would definitely wake the car up
Absolutely
My 2011 Aurion could equal or beat this. LOL
That's the thing. For Holden aficionados really. A dying breed.
Until a corner comes around... Then your Aurion becomes an understeering mess 🤣
Some big talk for an Aurion owner
@@Carman111Kennedy-sj1hj I said "could", not will.
@@JJ-wi2uw You mean it wont. The gearing in the Aurion tells me that itll just be all revs once it hits 60-70kmh. So you have a slight chance on launch, but after 30kmh you dont stand a chance. Not if its a stock vs stock comparison.
I mean, 282rwhp is cute and all but you should jump into my SV6. Got a wee bit more kick than this aha. Plus mine is a daily. Would love to even take you for a spin mate.
What’s yours have?
@@RossReviewsau so it's tuned to 432rwhp but they peaked it at 451rwhp and 545nm and how it is now is happy compared to the higher HP. It's supercharged, with a smaller pulley too.

Nah I still would
Looks like they almost got a flat bottom steering wheel!!
Almost 🤣
Can i have 3-4 grand so i can do my wagon please
Come edit some videos and we can talk
Hell yeah, LLT’s and LFX’s with OTR , exhaust, dyno tune, are decent, better fuel economy as well. the wagon is a bit heavier than the sedan but it is the VF so at least it’s slightly lighter than the VE. Personally … the exhaust does sound raspy and not my taste tbh, sounds like it’s an Xforce 2.5”. The Xforce 2.25” defo sounds better with some downpipes or hi flow cats fitted imo, better low down torque but does suffer with peak hp compared to a 2.5”-3” catback system. The problem is a lot of sv6’s really aren’t tastefully done , not a lot of clean ones… no offence to this owner
I find that's a big mistake a lot of V6 owners make. I'm still on Ps with a 2009 Calais alloytech. All I've got is a 2.25 inch xforce exhaust, whilst clearly not being the best sounding thing ever it doesn't have the drone or rasp the 2.5 inch exhausts have. I find v6s sound fine until they're straight piped or have a 3inch on em
@@Tosicc567 exactly I my suspension and guard rolling guy had a mate who gained 30rwhp on his cammed SV6from having a Pontiac g8 exhaust shipped from the US in a dyno, but the drone was insanely bad
@@Tosicc567this is true, whilst the alloytec doesn't sound the greatest, there's plenty of owners who install crappy exhausts that accentuate it even more.
The ecotec as well can sound terrible with a bad exhaust system.
I'm sure there's a way to make the alloytec sound decent, but I don't think there's been enough development in that area
@@vxsr33 Mine still has two mufflers so its not the loudest, plus 2.25inch is the width of the stock exhaust, might be why I find it sounds a bit better. So many people just stick a 3inch straightpipe on them and they sound absolutely crap.
fully agree on the 2.25 exhaust sounds a lot better then the 2.5inch exhaust especially on a vz aha
The exhaust is too big
Twin 2 1/8 " exhaust would be ideal
Probably be better
A for effort but screaming LS swap it. Texas speed 427ci in it
I used to have an Alloytec powered Commodore and it was a gutless slug. My Toyota Aurion will destroy it.
Aurions ain’t bad.. alloytec 💀
Which one was it?
