Yeah, all done on different surfaces and different days. Therefore what you say is void.
@@davothegreat9990 of course - but better than no data at all. Ross generally reviews on dry surfaces on similar roads with the good ol reliable Perth weather and consistent DA. So it’s better than nothing. The real uncontrolled variable though is how many passengers he carries.

I mean it’s cool to see something different. But as others have said those times don’t mean a whole lot. Especially when a lot of those cars you’ve listed would likely absolutely rocket past it if they were to keep going faster over a longer stretch and a lot likely struggle for traction because they’ve got more power.
Again not knocking the Supercharged V6 because it’s cool to see, just I wouldn’t say those times hold a lot of relevance.

I have a bf f6 500 rwhp, my girlfriend has one of these holdens in blue,it’s what’s called the black addition,it’s a nice car,we wheresaying it needed a turbo,lol

@@ESISTTIGER timing chains are still the Achilles heel in the SIDI 6s from what I've heard.. wouldn't stiffer valve springs put more strain back on it?

I've got a lightly modified 2017 SV6 dynoed at 210rwkw . I'm routinely doing flat 6 second times and as low as 5.8 seconds to 100 verified by dragy MANY times . Quarter mile times I've done 13.9 @164 kph .. all while not sounding loud and obnoxious like most v6's

Advise doing decent coilovers, the Commodores suffer badly from understeer. Have MCA Ultimates in my ute and I can throw it around without curb mounting..😂

There’s a twin turbo kit also i think that also runs around 10k but it’s a bit more involved to strap two turbo on the v6

I have a VF SV6 Black Edition have done the VCM CAI, Xforce 2.25” exhaust, and a tune. Just love my SV6 hear so many people bad mouth them but they are a great model.

I love my SV6. I was in the market for a used 911 when I decided to buy my SV6 in 2019. Back then you could get one with under 50,000 kms for around $23,000 drive away. My plan was to supercharge it and end up with a sleeper quicker than a stock 911. I ended up digressing from the supercharger and went cams, exhaust, tune, throttle controller and otrcai. Less than half the cost of the supercharger, complete stock look under the bonnet except for the otrcai and heaps of fun. I’ve had fast cars, wrx’s and currently an FK8 Type R. The SV6 feels sneakily fast and handling very good for a family sedan. I often wonder what a Commodore would be like now if Holden had stayed in business……..
They are a beautiful car the Vf definitely a future classic and can be made to drive really well eh!

My partner just got hers back from tuner v3 blower kit 2.5 inch full exhaust,tuned safe 358.9hp at the wheels on 6 psi,goes great now

Now this is something different! The Holden V6's aren't as terrible as everybody says they're but the Barra is the superior engine in the 6 cylinder battle (BA-VY onwards)... Looking forward to this one as I have a VFII SV6...
Been tossing up whether to Supercharge my VF sv6 or save the dollars and go the otr/exhaust/tune route. Hopefully this can help me decide

The 2jz and Rb are the king of the 6 game your barra is a joke
Prochargers style blowers are a more linear feeling and gain more power as rpm build. Where as the roots style blower on the top of the motor give that wack of torque at the bottom and tend to die off of the top end.

Saw this car at a hoppers crossing meet couple weeks ago, I have just a stock vf sv6 so I asked him about his and when he opened the bonnet I was starstruck.

it was a good meet that one, i cruised down from springvale with my mate next to me that had the lfx ve parked next to me he also has a capa v3 hope to see you around at other meets :)
I sold my BF Ute & bought a VE Wagon & must say Holden build quality is much better than the Ute & I love driving it more so as it handles better & gets up to speed faster ( both stock )
The price on this one is relatively cheap with a supercharger & the VF look great 👍
They definitely made a great car with the VF
I love my s2 've sv6 it loves corners and stepping out sideways.

And 5.5 is actually quite fast

Low 13's , 12's is a bit to optimistic .
It's still only a v6 making 400hp with v6 torque from v6 rod's and crank pushing a 1700kg chassis around.
Pretty impressive, similar performance to my stock VF SSV 6.0

I've got a manual ute. No procharger tho. The gearbox is a dog and won't handle much more power than stock. Its a Toyota gearbox. Other than that nice car. Doesn't sound as good as the ls3 in my vf2 redline tho

@@ASHERTESTIFY i asked my tuner about otr/exhaust and tune on my ute and he reckons its not a big gain. I've got a growler and the centre section pipe from an ssv on mine..maybe goes a bit better than stock (runs on 98) and def sounds better ..cheaper option. Ute is my daily.. I tend to throw my money at the weekend car. They go pretty good from factory really for a 6. Putting a solid flywheel on makes a big difference..revs a ton faster. If you really wanted to go turbo/procharge etc you'd want to bolt in a tr6060.

Love this thing sounds mental for a dohc V6 its not farty or trumpety like you'd expect from an LFX or any DOHC V6
Some valve springs, cams, new stainless piston rings, smaller charger pulley for more boost a larger intercooler and didicated E85 tune I reckon the owner could possibly crack the 400kw mark

got a set of forged rods and pistons on the way aswell as a 16psi pulley, once the pistons are in the pulley gets swapped then ill be working on the fuel system, might do a hybrid so i can run e85 aswell as u98, my ultimate plan is to reach 400rwkw so i may just make another channel and make videos on the journey chasing the number idk yet

Good power. Interesting that the M90 in the L67 Could only wrangle 24kw over stock.
I'd like to hear the torque output figures in this VF...
600nm
they ran 4 psi of boost stock which is 4 psi goes in to a bar 3.65 times. Divide the stock Ecotec kW by 3.65 you get 41 kws. There's a 20kw difference between the two , the supercharger is out of its effeciency range. 20kws isn't bad for driving an old roots style blower.
With an exhaust , OTR and tune a lot of guys are making 200-220 rwkw.
this is running 7 psi of boost. 7 psi goes into a bar 2.1 times , 47.61% of a bar. 42% increase in power which means 5% of the power should be driving the blower 15 kW. more modern blower and not far off the amount of kws it takes to turn the Eaton.

I own a stock MY17 SV6 tbh they get a lot of crap that's not really deserved they are really nice to drive, have plenty of power for a daily driver and they are reliable.
That and the 6 speed auto they come with has really changed my opinion on autos with how well it shifts.
I agree with you... I also own a stock VFII SV6 Wagon (2017 update) and it's an excellent car... It completely sh*ts on the FG-X for interior quality and is offered as a wagon!
I have a stock 2015 storm was thinking of wasting some money on intake tune and maybe exhaust but now I'm wanting the supercharger too 😅

I'm more of a supercharged ecotec and turbo barra kinda guy, and I'll rag on those early VZ alloytecs all day, but the newer LFX alloytecs used in the VE series 2 and VF's are actually a really nice engine.
@@xsct878 The newer LFX engines aren't Ecotecs, they're actually based on Alloytecs and are badged as "SIDI"

The camera on the bonnet looking back at you while you talk is quite cool but some of the time it's out of sync and it's weird to watch when the audio/video is not in sync.

over 1 year later since this video was done and only now just found a huge boost leak this car has had pretty much its whole life, one of the waste gates had popped off the charge pipe and the reason i know it has been off for a long long time is now the car does not flutter like you can hear in this video after reconnecting the waste gate, car feels much faster and more responsive now.

@@RossReviewsau all fixed and retuned to 324rwkw and 615nm measured on a roller dyno, still only 7psi no changes other than shoving something in the hole giggity, definitely feels much happier

It’s not an alloytec mate
These engines do still have timing chain failures though they aren't as commonly reported... My LF1 VE had the timing chain replaced at around 130,000km...

Seen heaps of conversion done with the sv6 auto bolted up too the V8 handle it fine they are a really strong box and come really de tune in stock form

Yeah if plastic add on bits with non functioning scoops etc which make it look like it's come out of a tupperware party is your thing, mind you, have seen Ford Rangers with heinous plastic scoops on the bonnet... like wtf....

How do the stocks brakes go stopping 300kw ?
I was thinking the same. Perhaps the owner upgraded the front brakes at least to SS spec? Most turbo/ supercharged cars requiring an engineer’s certificate would require some sort of a brake upgrade.
Wasn’t much of an issue but we didn’t punish them 😅
Vf Brakes are peeety damn good. I have a vf gts and thing there way overkill. The sv6 stops really well as does the ss

I'm not sure myself, this car sits in a garage and probably will be until late next year once I'm back and on a more stable schedule ill hunt around and find the right insurance but there's not much point until then.
@@MrShturck thanks for the reply, was only asking as I had to shop around with 6 different insurers for my VF-SSV Redline, the market value is terrible and have gone on an agreed with higher value and unfortunately policy to match. With the modifications perhaps only Shannon’s will cover you? Cheers.

I got the 2016 fgx xr6 turbo and the interior is shit compared to the vf, holden done so much better with the interior

I had a VE sv6 with a lfx 2013 motor as I blew the first gen lfx in my 2012 VE, beautiful car sold it earlier this year did a few motor mods on p plates ran the exact same exhaust with extra package to keep it a bit more quieter and lot less droney. Was tuned to 220rwkw before I blew the clutch and then motor so ended up putting a xr6t clutch in and a new motor obviously. Used to run older 8s all the time with a 0-100 of 5.6secs. Pretty quick for a 18 year old on my p2s in Australia
5.6 is what my stock 335i e90 does and I'm on my p2's lol.. I'm now in the mid-high 3's 0-100 with a 11.16 1/4 at Brissy's raceway
Does it have bigger injectors and fuel pump? If not, 300rwkw is a massive gain for just 7lb boost and an exhaust.
stock fuel system, only mods done in terms of power are exhaust cats and supercharger

Ive had one and yes they are terrible.The vn v6 was the best by far.Way less hp but super responsive

That's right, 5.55 IS pretty fast. I totally get it, it's a daily, you don't wanna ruin it with overly track-ambitious suspension mods.

Then...... you have to insure it. Easier and maybe cheaper to just buy the VE/VF SS.... and throw a custom cam and springs in it... maybe better rods (nothing else) can you'll make pretty much the same power or more..... and then it will look 100% factory and then for insurance well.... no massive supercharger under the bonnet etc. Like I did my cam myself and tuning etc.... Your looking like $1000-3000 depending on tools or whatever you might need/don't already have etc. Pretty cheap.
but on the same token this car gets on average 5 - 6l/100 fuel economy on 98 pump so highway cruising and long distance it is alot cheaper to run than any v8, not to mention that not everyone wants a v8 some people want and are willing to try something different.
