- The Holden Commodore SV6 VF is one of the most popular car choices among youth in Australia. Today we have our first double car review presented in opposing colours, of the angel and the devil. These red and blue SV6's are among some of the most modified variants in Victoria and we showcase how these modifications translate to a final drive.

Great review boys, had me very interested the whole way through! Love the discussion. Cheers
Thanks mate, appreciate the support
I have the vf ssv and I have taken it around Australia in a 1 and a half month’s travel. These cars are tough as nails and so comfortable. Never had a problem while travelling long long distances.
Me neither
very articulate review guys. deffs will be subscribing.. looking forward to more videos,
Totally agree with the black interior dating better than the chrome. I have a VF SS with all black interior and it's dated really well. Keep up the good work fellas! Oh, and I count 10 cup holders: all doors as bottle holders, front console, rear middle seat and rear fold down centre piece.
Thanks mate, appreciate the support!
Hey mate, Can we have your Instagram handle so we can discuss over DM??
You guys are good reviewers I think you’ll make it big great video
Thanks man, appreciate the love ❤
this video format is perfect, i loved the video, new sub :)
Thank you so much for the support! More to come soon!
Solid boys I love my sv6 even more now
Good on ya mate 👍
Thats Holden for you baby 🫡❤️🔥
Awesome review boys keep it up and I’m subscribe to see more 👌👌😎
Thanks mate, appreciate the support, more to come soon!
Great to see you boys promoting the best cars, I have a VF GTS you may want to review 😜
Some of the best cars in Australia without a doubt❤️ and love to see you reaching out thank you, we might have to make that GTS review happen👀
We'd love to get it on the channel, shoot through a message on our Instagram @wheelspinreviews🥰
One question on the red manual one... on a hill start where hand the break is required like how do you hill start if u at a complete stop and have to use the electric hand break as I'm wanting to manual my sv6 but the electric a hand break won't work with pushing the break down
Amazing
Cool 😎
Hi Guys Great Vid . I'M in UK Have a HSV/VXR8 6.2 over here its a Vauxhall vxr8
where are the eye lids from? i need to get them for my car
how much power were they pulling @ the wheels?
There hasn't been a proper review for the Sv6 vf until you guys made it happen!
Spot on with this review, you guys definitely earned a sub.😍
Might be biased because I'm brown too 😂🙂
Our Pleasure, we're gald you enjoyed the review, thank you for the sub heaps off cool car content coming up!
Great video guys but try not to get the cars your reviewing epa by saying they have no cats and showing plates
So what was done to the exhausts? And what was done re the cats?
was lucky enough to have this exact car (the red one) come to one of my cruises afew months back, super cool build very well presented and owner is a really nice guy, i have the same car in red but more orientated around performance, procharged, full exhaust, intercooled etc, i would be willing to let you take it out and do a video if you are interested of course
Where did u get the procharger and how much power u making?
@@kazepg3d this youtube channel has a video on my setup already uploaded all the info is there or i also have my own videos of the build dyno runs etc on youtube channel "osrs outdoors"
They look mint, just right. Need to review VF R8s
Definitely need to get an R8 soon
how did he change the front to series 2 from series 1
Sheeesh🥵
Great review, really makes me want to buy an SV6 and do something similar. Do you know how much each guy spent roughly on mods to get them to this point?
20-30k
I’ve got a 2017 slipstream blue vf sv6 II I bought for 34k with 20,000km and I’ve probably spent about 10k on mods
24:34 no catalytic converters? 🤪🧐 Great video but a surefire way to get EPA
Is it possible to fit an LS3? Or just better off buying a SS?
Easy to do so. But better off selling and buying an ss
Great Cars mate I own one the best car I’ve ever had I’ve had V8s before and this car has nearly as much power. Regards. Laurie.
That's amazing, awesome to hear as long as you're proud and happy with the car!
I was prepared to forgive their imported Barinas and Epicas so long as their halo car was produced locally. Once that was no longer the case, I just gave up on the brand.
Management in the end couldn't read a Dr Seuss book, let alone car buyer trends.
Had the money for the SS but hated all leather, prefer the swade in the SV6. Took me 4 months to find a manual series 2 with a sun roof, had been offered a few times to sell. Though good luck finding anything else for bang for buck. Love the vids lads keep it up.
U got a v6 over a v8 bc of the interior ?
@@skeng6797 he bought the v6 coz the interior was awesome and the power was shit lol.
Leather or Leather/cloth was just an interior selection. Available on both...
@@mattmurphy5419oh come on it’s not that bad. U guys act like v6 s are 4c

Gr888 review guys. Are the wheels genuine HSV or copies. If copies, where'd the guys get them from. The lights are also awesome. Who did the headlight conversion. Looking at some tasteful mods to my Series 2 manual Redline. Cheers
Blue ones raipers are gens, mine are reps from a tyre place in epping! Switchback lighting is where we got the headlights and drls
i really just want to know where the blue vf got his carbon front lip 😭
America custom made. 1/1
im gonna put a modded one on turo once its outta the shop.
au version might be reliable.
the american version is hit or miss. hit if u manage to get a manual one or one thats had the engine work already done. otherwise as the default "l99" in america, with the vvt and afm bullshit. it tends to explode and cause a 6,000$ repair.
mine has been a paperweight since apr 2022. soon it will be fixed and i guess ill finally get to see what its capable of. mine will have a stage4 cam and all the other shit to remove the trunnion needle bearing issue.
GL GB. all i can do is watch... for now...
Never knew they came with a V6 option.
Thats what most Commodores are and before that inline 6s even a few 4s but they didnt work out well.
Would be nice to drop a 383 stroker in one
Do these blokes have a youtube channel or social media we can follow?
Wait this surely can’t be p plate legal?
Chat help me out I'm planning to buy a commodore sv6 2007 model .. it has run 320k km should I go for it ? car looks decent
depends on the model. my recommendation is to save your money and buy a better one with less kms that isn’t an alloytec. LFX is much better and won’t have timing chain problems
What's your budget? I'd try find something with lower km as the car will need a lot of work over 300,000km...
@@MartinJones123 that'd be great bruv,.
I'm from Perth Australia
And my budget is up to 5.7k$ that's it
I'm interested in Subaru liberty/ Impreza etc.
@@user-cs4sf4ct9j An Impreza is quite a bit smaller than a Commodore if you're after a smaller car...
Subaru's are decent cars, though head gaskets are notorious for going bad on the EJ engines (which a Subaru in your budget likely has), the timing belts do need replacing at a certain interval, and if you're looking at manuals, the 5 speeds are "made out of glass," as they do apparently like to break...
As for the Commodores, the Alloytecs (VZ onwards) are notorious for timing chain issues, and sludged PCV systems due to the poor design, which can be alleviated by regular servicing but not completely avoided, as I had to do mine on my 3 litre Omega even though it was fully serviced... As for the transmissions, the 4 and 6 speed auto are reliable when maintained, but AVOID a 5 spd auto at all costs!
If you were to buy a Commodore at your budget, I'd go for the older Ecotec motor as they're more simple and reliable, though the Getrag 5 spd manuals can be worn, so be wary of that...
@@MartinJones123 so what you reckon ?
I'm not a car guy but I love cars 😭
Should I buy a Subaru ?
Cuz I love Subaru,sssssss
MY23 Cerato GT Sedan coming? 😉
You'll have to wait and see...
VE review next?
You'll have to subscribe and wait and see...
Sorry did you say fast ??? My standard BF XR6 ute with exhaust and cold air intake used to eat VF SV6s from the lights ... More show than go...
I’ve got one of these with dash cam footage of putting busses on a straight pipe ba ute
Its still missing many things... Which are all solved if you just have the V8 hahaha
Cheers for the review. So sad aussie cars are gone. We need an "Elon musk" type with fuck off money to bring back manufacturing here. Never going to happen but I dream.
Their missing 1 thing the LS3
P's..
the plastic manifolds kill me
it's a bit slow but
angle and deilve
Waste of money, all the money you’re spending on doing up a 6cyl, save your $ and just buy a V8 when you’re off your P’s.
Then spend money doing that up if you’d like.
Or do both💀🫢
Hahaha not golf 😂
Those custom lights look meh
So many better cars than a sv6. Easily beaten in a straight line by even a tuned 1.5 turbo
How many small 4 cylinders stock are realisticly going to beat a VF SV6 stock?. Mind you Im saving up for a V8.
@@nowhere529 glad you asked. Why limit to stock? Turbo cars get much better tuning results than non turbo. 50-100% power increases
@@andy2906 Yes I'm of know doubt a Yaris GR would leave the SV6 behind but can that be said of a standard Yaris?, you need to be fair in comparisons, The SV6 does what it was designed to do, A slightly sportier version of a stock v6 Commodore but its no HSV.
@nowhere529 SV6 lucky to do under 8 second 0-100. Aurion can beat that...embarrassing. Boat anchor
@@nowhere529 calling an SV6 sporty is like saying a spaghetti diet is the best
Unfortunately... There V6's. Which = ass
Ps buddy. Hurd of em?
@@tigerXgaming I'd rather drive a skyline/lancer/anything better then this
@@trixzyy5558 ok😂 lucky you're not anyone but you ay🥸
18 and have 20 grand burning a hole in your pocket ,phftt yeah right,, i suppose the bank of mum and dad are being hit again
I've been working since 14 while in school and have more than that looking at a ve or vz ss since I live in wa
What😂
Let me paint you a picture, you are just 18 and have an extra 20 thousand dollars?
Must be an Indian thing because this Mexican sure didn't have that sort of money lying around. I was lucky if I had 20 dollars.
When I was young in the mid 90s most of us Aussie P platers had cheap nasty cars, thats changed somewhat but yhea the Indians do good with money in Aus.
@@nowhere529 they are very shrewd with money and know how to get the best out of a system.
Who the Hell has $20K at 18, without rich f***in' parents? Nice dream, son.
Middle class parents not rich parents
Someone who works hard. And saves.
Just gotta work and save mate 😂😂😂, got my 14 VF storm last may at 19
The SV6 is one of the worst engines you can get. What an absolute joke.
You need to look up the lfx engine buddy
This comment is stupid
They had sorted out the Alloytec by the time the VF came round, still wise to change the oil every 5000 ks, I would be happy to own one with low ks and expect a long life out of it.
Bro send me those headlights to me here in Cali 🫡
Made by us at Switchback LED Lighting, we ship to the US regularly.
The 6s sound pretty sad, nothing like the V8s
