    Many of Korean friends should get some gifts on the Lunar New Year last week. Our family received a very special gift from a friend of my husband, and it was abalone. Abalone is regarded as a high-quality food ingredient in Korean cuisine and history says that it was often presented as a gift to the king of Korea. Guess what? When I saw the gift, I immediately decided to cook abalone rice porridge.
    How to Make Korean Abalone Porridge | Jeonbokjuk (전복죽)
    Ingredients: 3 abalone. 1 cup of sweet rice, 1 teaspoon of salt 1 T of tuna fish sauce, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 5 cups of water, 1/4 of carrot, 1/4 of onion 3 green onions

    Step 1: Washing sweet rice and soaking in water
    Wash 1 cup of sweet rice two or three times. Soak the washed rice in water for about an hour. After 1 hour, take it out and drain it.
    Step 2: Preparing Vegetables
    Chop the onion, carrot, and green onions finely 3/4 horizontally.
    Cooking Step 3: Trim Abalone [æbə│loʊni]
    Wash the abalone clean with a disposable toothbrush. Using a spoon, apply a little force and push it little by little to separate the abalone from the shell. Cut it thinly. Cut the intestines with scissors.
    Step 4: Boil Abalone Porridge
    In a pan, add 2T of sesame oil, 1t of chopped garlic, the intestines Stir well. Add the soaked sweet rice and stir-fry for about 2 minutes, then pour 5 cups of water. Cover and boil over high heat. When the porridge starts to boil, lower the heat, cover with a lid, and continue boiling. When the rice is cooked to some extent, add the cut abalone, the cut vegetables. Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1T of tuna fish sauce. Finally, add eggs.
    재료 : 전복 3개. 찹쌀1컵, 볶은소금 1/2스푼(소금, 액젖 혹은 참치액젖). 참기름 2스푼, 다진 마늘 1 작은술, 물 (쌀 양의 5배). 당근 1/4, 양파 1/4, 쪽파 4개 김가루조금
    전복죽 만드는법:
    요리 1 단계: 찹쌀씻어 물에 불리기
    찹쌀 1컵을 두 세번 정도 씻어주세요. 씻은 쌀은 1시간정도 물에 불려주세요. 1시간 후 채에다 건져 물기를 빼주세요. 이것은 미리 물에 불려 채에다 건져둔 찹쌀이예요. 조금 있다가 사용할거예요.
    요리 2 단계: 야채손질하기
    양파, 당근, 쪽파를 잘게 썰어주세요.
    요리 3 단계: 전복손질하기
    전복을 칫솔로 깨끗히 씻어주세요. 숟가락을 사용해서 전복을 껍질에서 분리해주세요. 전복을 얇게 잘라주세요. 내장은 가위로 잘게 잘라주세요.
    요리 4 단계: 전복죽 끓이기
    팬에다 참기름 2큰술, 다진마늘 1 작은술, 내장을 넣고 잘 볶아주세요. 2분 정도 볶아주다가 물을 5컵 부어주세요. 뚜껑을 덮고 센불에서 잘 끓여주세요. 죽이 끓기시작하면 불을 약불로 낮추어 뚜껑을 덮고 계속 끓여주세요. 어느 정도 익으면 썰어둔 전복을 넣어주시고 썰어둔 야채들도 넣어주세요. 소금 1작은술, 참치 액젓 1큰술 넣고 간을 맞춰주세요. 마지막으로 계란을 넣어주세요.
