    Thank you!! Simple and quick application of pleat hooks. I used IKEA curtains and it took me ten minutes per panel to apply 10 hooks each to the built in drapery tape. I had no idea how to do this until I watched this video. So happy!

    You purchase more fabric width if you would like them to close...window width x 2 or x 2.5 or more depending on the pleat you are using.
    Lovely video

    Great tutorial! May I suggest, if you are short on money, and time, to use cheap grommet curtains (I can get thermic linen look ones for 20$ here, 9 feet long). Get an extra curtain for the extra needed fabric, cut off the top with the grommets, and add and sew the top part with the pleat tape. A great alternative!

      It sounds great but you explain it in more detail? What's the extra curtain for?

    To your caveat, Loved this tutorial however I followed your casual method of 5 but also skipped between the hooks by 5 and this allowed for a larger front pleat but I can also close my curtains! I tend to do this at night. They have more structural pleats which make them beautiful and functional. Now I will add a dowel with an eye hook to the inside hook to allow for a pull rod to open and close. Thanks again

    This is amazing timing! Just a while ago I was looking up curtains and wondering about making them for my living room. I was thinking about olive velvet, but I also found a roll of vintage 100% linen at a thrift store recently-86 yds! This is one of my best finds ever, only $32! I have a lot of sewing to do! Thanks so much for this info, it’s very helpful and I love how your living room turned out, it looks very Scandinavian, very pretty.

      Cynthia! You did find a bargain! My goodness, that would have made my day. Olive velvet would be so pretty, in fact I have been thinking about doing that in our master bedroom when we get to it. But the linen is so nice too. Happy sewing! Glad I could give you some inspiration.

    It looks like the pleater tape you used is currently unavailable. Since I have never used pleater tape (but LOVE how it turned out for you), I am hesitant to try another tape. There seem to be different styles for different results. Would you be able to suggest to the one you used? TIA

    Thank you for sharing your expertise. I don't sew at all but will try to get help from someone to sew our drapes. I love the look of the top hem of the curtain to be hung above the the curtain rod so those rings or clips will be hidden
    Will that be possible? Also, I love the length of your drapes. What is your ceiling height and what is the length of your drapes?

    You made reference to the linen becoming softer after use and washing. What’s your experience with shrinkage? How should they be dried? I have 120” linen lined drapes that I need to be around 110”. Wondering if I should wash/dry before having them altered. Can you give me some pointers? Any advise is much appreciated!

    • @snoopybluejeans

      I wouldn't do it. Curtains are heavy and eventually the glue will fail.

    • @barbaravance6774
      @barbaravance6774 2 роки тому +1

      Not unless you create and sew your own pleats. The point of pleat tape is thatv there are loops to run the hooks through.

    Hi! Love this tutorial. Quick question… do you have to fold over the top for the width of the pleat tape? Or can you just do a small hem and attach the pleat tape to the top without the double layer of fabric? Thank you!

    • @Bandaid17

      It will not look as nice if you don’t fold over the fabric to add structure

    Watched your video. My problem is that I want to try and make a pinch pleat drape curtain for a one way draw rod for patio door. So I will need to sew several panels together. What do you do with the seems that are sewn together because they will show from the outside of door.

    How do pinch-pleated curtains quality as "Luxury?" I think of them as just good ol' fashioned pinch pleated curtains, myself. If you were using a high-end designer fabric with a lining, yeah. But ANYway.. I was thinking of using this technique with some Pottery Barn curtains I just bought and then it dawned on me: THE MORE PLEATS, THE LESS CURTAIN WIDTH. YIKES! Something to think about . . .

    • @reneeperry6488
      @reneeperry6488 Рік тому +3

      These lay with a much more “luxurious” or rather “quality” look. And having less fabric is a cheaper shortcut that shows as a shortcut and she mentions the extra fabric. I opt for more curtain or fabric which does give a high end look.

    • @snoopybluejeans
      @snoopybluejeans 10 місяців тому +1

      Single width for curtains, look like shower curtains, hardly luxurious. Width should be 2.5 - 3 times the width of the window or wall if you are doing wall to wall.
