I made them for my family gathering and they turned out AMAZING. used extra brown sugar so my dough was dark, also made a double batch. Still wonderful and everybody loved it. Will be coming back to this over and over again for sure. Just one tip, I found that cooling the batch just before sending it to the oven is helpful in preventing the butter from escaping the rolls too quickly. Thank you John

I used to bake with my grandmother when I was younger. She would show us step-by-step how to make her cinnamon rolls. She passed on many recipes to me but one I did not receive was the cinnamon roll recipe. This looks almost exactly like hers. I’m trying it right now and I can’t wait to taste them! Honestly the BEST cinnamon rolls recipe I’ve come across. So soft and flavorful. I didn’t have sour cream and was a bit worried but it turned out GREAT with 1 cup of milk instead. I also used only brown sugar. Definitely would be making this again!

I was in the middle of making these for the first time when our cat passed away. We were really sad, but once we had these for breakfast the next day, they were the best thing I could ask for after the tragic thing that happened the day before. These cinnamon rolls will always hold a special place in my heart. They were SOOOOOOOOOOO delicious and fluffy. Best cinnamon roll recipe ever! Highly recommend!

I have made these cinnamon roll twice so far. The second time I accidentally used self rising flour and the flour doubled in an hour but they still came out delicious and perfect. So now I just use self rising, it’s cuts the time in half and still come out perfect! Thanks for the recipe ;)
Wow the turning on the oven to the lowest temp and then turning it off to let the dough proof is such an amazing tip, i live in oregon and it gets super chilly in the winter and takes a long time to proof

Hi John! For the filling I would recommend just combining the butter sugar and cinnamon all together. Then you can just spread it all on the dough. It’s a lot easier!!!

This is my first time making cinnamon rolls and they turned out great! I used metric measurements and found the dough to be a little too wet and sticky, but adding a little extra flour solved that issue. I kept them raw overnight in the fridge and brough them out the next morning to rise and bake. Making this my go to recipe :)
I made this for Christmas for my family and everyone absolutely loved them! I used a tiny bit more cinnamon and made extra icing but it was a perfect recipe! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys baking.

I actually made this twice and the result is perfect. I made and did everything John said and everyone loved it. The first one I made had the a hint of mint because I used my Oral-B floss that’s mint flavor. The second time, I bought a flavorless waxed floss and it’s as perfect as the first one.

First time I’ve ever made cinnamon rolls. Love to bake; however, always a little apprehensive about recipes using yeast. Watched this video a few days ago and the rolls looked awesome. I finally made these a couple weeks ago bc I wanted a nice roll that wasn't dry and these didn't disappoint! I ended up using a little more cinnamon and sugar, which resulted in that sticky, gooey brown sugar goodness. They were absolutely fantastic! I finally made this recipe. I made the dough last night and refrigerated them overnight like you recommend, and baked them this morning! These are the best cinnamon rolls ever. I’m saving this recipe as my only recipe now!
I made them and were absolutely delicious! I’m from a Latin American country (Honduras 🇭🇳) , with higher humidity and warmer climate so if you’re in one of those I’d like to tell you my leavening time was reduced by half! I let them rise an hour and a half and they were ready. They grew so much! Also, the dough was still sticky when I started kneading it so refrain from adding more flour, I believe it was still sticky because the butter was warmer to the touch and made everything else more moist. Best cinnamon rolls ever! Everyone loved them! ♥️
Hello John I have been baking with you since October I have tried an olive oil cake, quiche multiple cookies lemon dipped and Nutella are the favorites, something new each week.Thank you I wanted to show off my skills and bought the ingredients to makes these but choked. Well my sour cream was about to expire and Saturday I decided was the day. I did cut the recipe half. They are work they were a bit loose rolled but when they baked up to deliciousness I forgot. They were Ah-maz-ing the frosting out of this world.Thank you John for the boost of confidence making these cinnamon rolls gave me. They were a bit loose but so good with the frosting!! And my coffee😊I asked my husband to pick up your book he likes to surprise me with little gifts throughout the year so that will be mine at some point. I made these cinnamon rolls yesterday. I have failed in making a good roll my whole life till I found this video. My rolls were always kind of hard, specially the outer ring, not these rolls!!! They were so milky smooth, soft & 100% lovely.

Thank you for these delicious cinnamon rolls! I made these this weekend for my husband who has a dairy allergy. I was able to substitute with dairy-free options for butter, milk, sour cream, and cream cheese. I just needed a bit more flour to get the right consistency for the dough. Everything worked perfectly and the rolls were loved by the entire family! (Both by the family members with and without allergies!) I will definitely be making these again! Thank you so much! 😊
@@davidsarmiento206 I can get dairy free versions of each item. The items are mostly coconut based. The butter I routinely use is called Melt. I have used it in many of John’s recipes. It’s nice because it comes in stick form and not just in a tub. The cream cheese brand I use is Daiya. There are few non dairy sour creams I have used - Follow your Heart is the brand I’ve used the most. Also, my GREATEST recent find is a dairy free Heavy Whipping Cream by Silk. That has been a game changer!! I hope this is helpful. Do you or a loved one have a food allergy you’re dealing with?

Push it out. Filling Sugar and cinnamon and soft butter Roll and cut And place in buttered baking dish Let them rise again for 2 hours Or place them in the fridge and bake next day Icing 4 ounces Cream cheese 2tbsp butter 1 tsp lemon juice 1 to 2 cups of sugar 1 tbsp of milk add more if needed Bake for just iver 20 mins

Why I ever try other chef’s recipes is beyond me. Every single Preppy Kitchen recipe comes out perfectly! I was a bit anxious because the first proving took far longer, but I remembered what Jon said and I stayed the course. Three odd hours later, I had a tray of the lightest, most flavorful fluffy cinnamon buns I’ve ever made or even tasted! Thanks, Chef, for another winning recipe! I have been buying cinnamon rolls from bakeries for years, only to be disappointed when biting them to find nothing but a dry sugary lump of dry bread masquerading as a cinnamon roll. So, what a joy this morning when I took my first bite of my home-made cinnamon rolls using this recipe. A lot of work and patience is required, but the result is well worth the effort.

I made them and they're a five star cinnamon roll, absolutely perfect in every way.The recipe being shown in the video is the one I followed the link takes you to a recipe that is little different it leaves out the sour cream. Be sure to follow his suggestion the first rising is to be three hour for light fluffy cinnamon roll

My go to recipe for cinnamon rolls! The website recipe was updated sept 2023 without the sour cream but it made no difference with mine. Still very soft and yummy.

I used to bake with my grandmother when I was younger. She would show us step-by-step how to make her cinnamon rolls. She passed on many recipes to me but one I did not receive was the cinnamon roll recipe. This looks almost exactly like hers. I’m trying it right now and I can’t wait to taste them! Honestly the BEST cinnamon rolls recipe I’ve come across. So soft and flavorful. I didn’t have sour cream and was a bit worried but it turned out GREAT with 1 cup of milk instead. I also used only brown sugar. Definitely would be making this again!

I have made these cinnamon roll twice so far. The second time I accidentally used self rising flour and the flour doubled in an hour but they still came out delicious and perfect. So now I just use self rising, it’s cuts the time in half and still come out perfect! Thanks for the recipe ;)

Hi John! For the filling I would recommend just combining the butter sugar and cinnamon all together. Then you can just spread it all on the dough. It’s a lot easier!!!

This is my first time making cinnamon rolls and they turned out great! I used metric measurements and found the dough to be a little too wet and sticky, but adding a little extra flour solved that issue. I kept them raw overnight in the fridge and brough them out the next morning to rise and bake. Making this my go to recipe :)

I actually made this twice and the result is perfect. I made and did everything John said and everyone loved it. The first one I made had the a hint of mint because I used my Oral-B floss that’s mint flavor.
The second time, I bought a flavorless waxed floss and it’s as perfect as the first one.

I finally made these a couple weeks ago bc I wanted a nice roll that wasn't dry and these didn't disappoint! I ended up using a little more cinnamon and sugar, which resulted in that sticky, gooey brown sugar goodness. They were absolutely fantastic! I finally made this recipe. I made the dough last night and refrigerated them overnight like you recommend, and baked them this morning! These are the best cinnamon rolls ever. I’m saving this recipe as my only recipe now!
I made them and were absolutely delicious! I’m from a Latin American country (Honduras 🇭🇳) , with higher humidity and warmer climate so if you’re in one of those I’d like to tell you my leavening time was reduced by half! I let them rise an hour and a half and they were ready. They grew so much! Also, the dough was still sticky when I started kneading it so refrain from adding more flour, I believe it was still sticky because the butter was warmer to the touch and made everything else more moist. Best cinnamon rolls ever! Everyone loved them! ♥️

Well my sour cream was about to expire and Saturday I decided was the day. I did cut the recipe half. They are work they were a bit loose rolled but when they baked up to deliciousness I forgot. I baked mine this morning and was saddened that the smell did not permeate throughout my home. I did not have the vent on just for the fact I wanted my house filled with that delicious smell everyone said in multiple videos! What is wrong with my house??! True sadness filled my heart this morning.
Laura Rondan here’s the trick, keep your expectations low as fuck, then when u can smell it from a few feet away from the oven you’ll be glad just bc u can smell it. my life motto is to keep ur expectations low as shit bc it keeps u happier which is strange as I’ve been suicidal in the past and am barely getting better rn.

Thank you for these delicious cinnamon rolls! I made these this weekend for my husband who has a dairy allergy. I was able to substitute with dairy-free options for butter, milk, sour cream, and cream cheese. I just needed a bit more flour to get the right consistency for the dough. Everything worked perfectly and the rolls were loved by the entire family! (Both by the family members with and without allergies!) I will definitely be making these again! Thank you so much! 😊

@@davidsarmiento206 I can get dairy free versions of each item. The items are mostly coconut based. The butter I routinely use is called Melt. I have used it in many of John’s recipes. It’s nice because it comes in stick form and not just in a tub. The cream cheese brand I use is Daiya. There are few non dairy sour creams I have used - Follow your Heart is the brand I’ve used the most. Also, my GREATEST recent find is a dairy free Heavy Whipping Cream by Silk. That has been a game changer!! I hope this is helpful. Do you or a loved one have a food allergy you’re dealing with?

Combine
Flour surface and knead until silky
Bring it in. Push it out.
Filling
Sugar and cinnamon and soft butter
Roll and cut
And place in buttered baking dish
Let them rise again for 2 hours
Or place them in the fridge and bake next day
Icing
4 ounces Cream cheese
2tbsp butter
1 tsp lemon juice
1 to 2 cups of sugar
1 tbsp of milk add more if needed
Bake for just iver 20 mins

Why I ever try other chef’s recipes is beyond me. Every single Preppy Kitchen recipe comes out perfectly! I was a bit anxious because the first proving took far longer, but I remembered what Jon said and I stayed the course. I made them and they're a five star cinnamon roll, absolutely perfect in every way.The recipe being shown in the video is the one I followed the link takes you to a recipe that is little different it leaves out the sour cream. Be sure to follow his suggestion the first rising is to be three hour for light fluffy cinnamon roll
Did you make them without the sour cream?

My go to recipe for cinnamon rolls! The website recipe was updated sept 2023 without the sour cream but it made no difference with mine. Still very soft and yummy.
Made them this morning and followed the recipe exactly. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! So soft and fluffy. This tastes like love for real.
