I think they're beyond *anyone's* understanding tbh. even Shockwave himself. everything the guy does seems to motivated only by curiosity and/or a "why not" attitude.
So, to summarize: 1) Shockwave survived 2) All the slackers and untrustworthy Decepticons neatly disposed of themselves 3) Shockwave now has a better crew of Decepticons to replace the others. In hindsight, it all seems so obvious, and Scorponok was just shy of realizing something was wrong.
One thing I always liked about this scene is that you rarely see Shockwave emote to any capacity. Even though mono-eye transformers don't have a face, they always have SOME way of expressing themselves like an eyelid or readjusting the lens to indicate a squint. But here, Shockwave realizes pretty quickly that his analytical mindset, no matter what contingencies he had to save his hide, was getting him killed. And so for the first time since he underwent Shadowplay, he looks genuinely terrified because he let his confidence override his sense of reason telling him that when the guy who can make your soul self-destruct calls you up for a chat, you really shouldn't pick up the phone.
It was meant to throw people off, thinking it was primes old war friend Roller, but it turned out to be a different cybertronian who could make things go haywire with his voice
There's a good chance he could've killed the DJD assuming he was on a warship and not a escape pod to go with the other warship he he had that he would've have definitely attacked
And that’s the reason you don’t look so psychopath lead your troops. They tend to be very pragmatic and let their goals over take the primary directive. 😂
When you acknowledge who Shockwave and Tarn were in the past and their relations to each other before becoming Decepticons…you kind of feel bad for what they’ve become, even if they don’t Also, phenomenal work
Making Scorponok sound like his Energon counterpart is pretty appropriate. Especially since other options... wouldn't work. G1 is too nasally, BW is a idiotic brute and 07 is a beast.
There's speculation that Tarn was one of Megatron's Phase-Sixers (re: Decepticon super-soldier/living engine of death, destruction, and pain), but that has not been confirmed. The three known Phase-Sixers were Sixshot, Overlord, and Black Shadow (who found himself on the DJD's infamous list).
The one thing I did notice is that tarn has one foot propped up, and the only other time I have seen someone sit like that was megatron in chaos theory.

Amazing voice work as always, and pretty insightful to see that after Shockwave left G9, he was almost taken down by the DJD. Pretty interesting story telling by James.
Young Peshi When he fought the Dinobots it was under Simon Furman. Which was based on the Marvel where Shockwave chooses he follow logic. It was years later with Roberts and Barber where he was had a lobotomy. So he couldn’t feel any emotion this was the major plot point in Dark Cybertron in trying to stop him. It was only because of the rather complicated time travel where they brought the old memories back. Even then when he came back as Onyx it was because of his brief awakening of his old selves, he’s no longer logical.

@@BasedVegeta Unrelated, but here's a little customization tip I picked up from TFW2005: take TR Overboard, remove his head & legs, pop off TLK Barricade's buggy eyed noggin & then plop Overboard's smirking face onto his tiny neck ball joint. Instant Generations Barricade! Yeah. Got tired of waiting for the Siege version so I made my own CHUG Barri. Overboard's dark blue matches the TLK fig so the two definitely mesh well together. Feel free to try it out for yourself! :)
Love the voice work. Shockwave's voice was very close to the original. But I don't picture Scorponok's voice to sound like that, I picture it sounding a little bit more sinister/scheming-ish.
I know it would be very unlikely, but I wonder what would happen if tarn went against soundwave? I ask this cause I feel like this encounter would show some of tarns weakness’s if my assumption is correct on how his “deadly voice” and insta kill touch powers work and that’s its just very high energon frequency’s that vibrate so violently it paralyzes the target to astonishing levels. However, soundwave could potentially easily block that with his own waves of vibrations.
Shadowplay has nothing to do with empurata. Shockwave received his empurata after his shadowplay purely out of spite (thanks, Proteus. You created a monster.)
it'd be an awesome fight, but Bludgeon is superstitious, and if Tarn's ability to weaponize conversation can be brought to bear, or if it reminds him of something, its an immediate Tarn win. Them using Nuke instead of just nucleon would probably give Tarn the win regardless. Bludgeon'd love to learn that secret though

There were about 23 Decpeticon's shown or mentioned in this five minute story, yet only 3 (Shockwave, Scorponok and Flywheels) have updated figures of them that are out or pending in a Generations line. So why not the other 20?? I'm not sure but 1 or 2 might be Terrocon's but what about The DJD (five), Bludgeon, Howlback and Flame? I know that WFC Kingdom will be split between a BW and G1 characters (G1's portion being more OP's and Megatrons). It's just sad that there's so many other G1 bots that HasTak fails to give notice to. Hell, more than a 3rd of Earthrise and those Netflix exclusives are the same characters from last year with slight modifications to have Earth alt-modes.

I don't see Megatron signing off on Shockwave's death. He didn't even let the DJD kill Starscream of all people. Definitely isn't going let them kill one of two Decepticons he actually trusts, Soundwave being the other.

@@VernorsDoctor Doesn't mean a thing in regards to what I was saying. Shockwave TAUGHT Tarn how to use that outlier ability and fully knew what he was capable of. Shockwave willingly went rogue knowing that Megatron could send Tarn's gang after him. You cannot tell me that Shockwave, the Master Planner, didn't have a countermeasure prepared for that. Or wasn't already immune to Tarn's ability. Tarn is a poser (which was the entire point of his character arc.) Shockwave's the real deal (Which is ironic, considering he spent 14 million years posing as someone else...)
