Honestly, I like both the lion version and the wolf version of Steeljaw. And I think that they should change the name of the lion version to something like Steelfang or something like that.
One thing that was very weird about the G1 Steeljaw toy (shown at 0:21) was that his cassette sticker was designed backwards. There's clearly what's meant to be a lion's mane on the left side of the sticker, but it should've been on the right side to line up with where the toy's head actually is. On the subject of the animal microcassette Transformers speaking, I do remember Ramhorn speaking, but I don't remember if Steeljaw ever did. And Ravage spoke in only one G1 episode, while in cassette mode, when being played back by Soundwave. (At least I THINK it was supposed to be Ravage speaking. As it is a cassette being played back, you would think it would be a recorded voice, but it is not a recording of any of the other characters in the show.) I think they ALL could speak in the Japanese dub of the US show and the subsequent Japanese exclusive continuations.
As a kid the cassettes were always my favorites, which is why Soundwave was my favorite. I liked his ability to deploy smaller bots when ever he liked and was disappointed that his Autobot counterpart didn't seem to have any. I recall making up some for him as a kid, but knowing me they were likely recolor clones of Soundwave's group. I was surprised to see Blaster suddenly have some in the movie. It's too bad this ability has largely fallen by the wayside in recent adaptations, since cassettes have become obsolete. These days Soundwave largely is only able to deploy Laser Beak. I can't remember the last time I saw Blaster. It was likely some bit part in Animated.
Love love LOVE Steeljaw in RiD! ❤️ Wished we could have more backstory though...what if the reason for Steeljaw's rebellion was to speak up about the social injustice within the Decepticon community, especially Cons with animalistic features like him. He along with other members of his pack doesn't look like regular Cons like Starscream, etc. and were perhaps targets of discrimination. Which could be why he wanted to create a utopia for Decepticons to live peacefully without the fear of robot racism.
4:40 It's really strange that Masterpiece Blaster (and his Cassettes) has been completely absent from the line. Meanwhile it has been nearly ten years since Soundwave got his MP figure.
I do like Steeljaw's design in Robots in Disguise and I like how they gave him a vehicle mode but just happens to look like an anthropomorphic wolf in his robot mode
I swear I remember Steeljaw and Ramhorn talking in season 3, particularly the time travel episode with A-3 and the uprising against the Quintessons. They both deserve more appearances either way.

It's a shame how more autobot mini cassettes didn't get a bigger roll I'm the original show. We mostly only saw Soundwave's. I think it was a big missed opportunity for them. I loved Steel jaw as a kid.
If I were to write a new Transformers series, I would make Steeljaw a resident of the Jungle Planet, give him a beast mode, and make him the leader of the Predacons.
I had box set of Transformers Headmasters Twincast with Rewind and Steel Jaw toy. One of my favorites Autobots/Cybertron Mini Cassette team. G1 was better than RID version because the design from japanese anime version did well than Marvel comics part. Lion my fave animal.
now i have heard of the robotic pit bull steel jaw and always thought it would be a "good boy" and i will ALWAYS rather have that version then the one 1 more later.
Imagine as a plot twist, it's revealed that both the Autobot and the Decepticon versions of Steeljaw are actually the same character but in different bodies, with the Autobot version of Sreeljaw defecting to the Decepticons when he apparently 'died' and becoming the Decepticon Steeljaw...?
I hope that RID Steeljaw stays as the version of Steeljaw you could have him be the leader of Gorilla warfare unit or be the decepticon that Soundwave and Shockwave trust to get the mission done and be the voice of reason when Soundwave and Shockwave argue
I love the RID steel jaw and the Anthro style transformers like steel jaw and his sister I find it kind of cool since it adds some very cool design options and I loved the facial expression with the ears and the tail I also like how his vehicle mode had spike on the back that looked like the Tufts on his Tail and head. I would love to see a few more appear in some other transformers projects. They stand out a lot I was flicking through the idw comic and before I even knew who they were I saw this red transformer that looked like a furry and was like "that is very interesting and cool" they work well as a that's something you don't see every day and I don't know if it's the furry in me but I can't help but find them just a little cute especially when they do the funny faces.
I like to think that Steeljaw got destroyed at some time, leading to the Decepticons to put him in a new body (AKA his RID body), wiping his memories out. Thus Steeljaw was now a full-fledged Decepticon. At least that's my headcanon.
Steeljaw was the best new villain in RID, but Autobot Steeljaw is easily my favorite of Blaster's cassette-bots. Golden lions are always cool. I'd say let the Decepticon keep the name, but bring back the cassette-bot with a different name, like maybe "Goldclaw".
Steeljaw definetly was one of the standout new characters of RID 2015, but I think another one was Strongarm, the police-bot. Would be nice to see a video about her any time soon.
another thing is that "Strongarm" is another of those names that was used for different, unrelated characters until we got the definitive user. Like Barricade and Knockout. so, that would be interesting to see.
funny, when this video got released, five minutes before that, I saw an RID Steeljaw toy and I couldn`t remember their name, till I saw this video got released lol. amazing video as always, I love learning about lesser known Transformers
Steeljaw will always be a fierce lion to me. He and Ramhorn were amongst my favorites growing up, along with Buzzsaw and Ravage. There were some EPIC fights.
So, I'm currently re-watching this video, and I noticed that at 2:49 in the video, Twincast has the Autobot insignia on his crotch in what I presume to be the box art for the toy.
Yeah, that's were the rubsign insignia is on the toy! The Twincast toy didn't have the regular big Autobot symbol on its chest like Blaster, even though it was there in the cartoon. Reissues would add it, though!
Now this was very interesting. Keep up the good work Chris. Also, would you mind doing an episode on, for example: Kup, Fortress Maximus, the Stunticons and maybe even all the characters who have borne the name Silverbolt.
While it may be still up in the air, I think it is fair to say RID Steeljaw outshines the G1 Cassettibot. Whereas, that version of Steeljaw was more of a "beast former", RID Steeljaw had a lot more flair and appeal because he had more personality to him. Not to mention he has a brother and a sister , which G1 Bot didn't have, and add to the fact the only time he showed up was to be bait in the WFC Trilogy.....I think it is pretty clear RID Steeljaw will eventually outshine his predecessor. With Animated? It was Bulkhead. With the Live Action Films? It was Barricade. With Prime? It was Knockout. And with RID '15? It's Steeljaw. Not a matter of if, only when.
Say what you will about RID 2015, but it was nice to see a main group of decepticon villains that didn’t include any of the big four (Megatron , Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave) I feel like dreadwing was another example from prime outshining his predecessor
Dang..this is one of those rare cases I like both incarnations! I just wished his RID incarnation transformed into a Wolf but he still has a great robot/werewolf hybrid design!
Honestly, I like the G1 Steeljaw instead of the RID 2015 Steeljaw. Because, his Lion like figure is one of my favorites and one of the... most favorite Casset minicon of Road Blaster
I have to admit ive always had a soft spot for G1 Steeljaw but while i never got into RID15 i do like their version as a villain hes like the charming charismatic schemer most versions of Starscream think they are
Out of the entire Decepticon cast shown in RID he was the least goofy with his robot design. I barely remember seeing what I saw in Season 1 but there was only the handful of bots I try to keep note of from Season 1.
I wanted to see the Pitbull version of Steeljaw in DOTM but it probably would've been for the best. Despite how i feel about RID 2015, steel jaw felt like a very prominent character.
Steeljaw (Aligned), as well as the Horrorcons, Terrorcons, and G1 Decepticon Pretenders/Headmasters are the equivalents of "Blockbuster Creature Feature" on Cybertron. On Earth, we tell stories of Werewolves, Vampires, Ape Men, Dragons, and other freaky beasts. Now imagine if you were an Alien Robot equivalent of that. Gotta be nightmare feul for most Cybertronions
It was mainly because it was supposed to be a sequel series to prime a show that is arguably the best transformers show of all time (although I personally prefer animated but that’s just me) and that it just pailed in comparison with the series having more lighthearted and goofy moments (I’d arguably say the comedy is a bit teen titans go like) and that non of the characters had any development I will admit tho there was some parts of the show I did really like for example I loved the idea of what the series was going for with bumblebee teaming up with a rag tag team of autobots after being exiled from cybertron and now they have to go up against a team of rogue decepticons I honestly think it could have been a just a good as prime if it took itself more seriously and didn’t rely on the monster of the week type of plot and I will admit I do think the animation is very good I mean it’s bright,it’s colourful, it’s a nice mix between cgi and cell shading at least it wasn’t like energon’s animation or cybertron’s animation they actually did put in some effort into it
People hate RiD for a mixture of the following reasons. 1. Downgraded Art and animation quality from Prime. 2. Cartoony, childish, goofy aesthetics and characters. 3. Cartoony, childish, goofy storylines and episodes. 4. The Decepticons are stupid looking Animals and Monsters now for some reason. 5. Character assassination of Optimus Prime. 6. Just generally bad and inconsistent writing. Contradicts events from Prime. Optimus Prime does not need training, this is the same Optimus from TF Prime and a Veteran Faction Leader of a millions-years long war. Overall a totally unworthy successor to Transformers Prime. If it was it's own thing copletely indipdenant from Transformers Prime, several of those listed reasons may have been nullified, but that wasn't the case.
7:23 I know that in my expanded headcannon, after the end of R.I.D. 2015, he would make contact with Troy Baker's character from Duane Capizzi's: Carmen Sandiego and would form an alliance (along with other Decepticon recruits from Termagax) with VILE to restore the cause and his empire.
RID15 Steeljaw feels the best holder of the name. Just this suave gaslighting 'con who still poses a physical threat. The unique look just helps as well.
Yeah I agree even tho the show kinda sucks atleast they introduced a memorable decepticon character that is steeljaw and I would love to have his toy of him someday
To me it sounds like RiD Steeljaw was attempting to become the next Megatron (conquer Earth, command his pack with fear and intimidation, deceitful and manipulative, etc) obviously he’d never rise up to the status of Megatron unless he REALLY set himself to do so and has more failed attempts than Starscream if we’re being honest
I’m thinking of my own version of steeljaw who was born as a normal transformer, but got a wolf upgrade later, he leads a crew of Decepticons who he names his pack and his greatest rival is ironhide.

Gold/Steelmane I think could work, unless you want his name to still sound similar.
The Autobot Mini caset is also called Cubbie.
The Autobot Lion = Cubbie
The Decepticon Werewolf = Steeljaw
It was so cool when the autobot tapes appeared back then in the film. Even though they got no real time in the comic.
“No way! Two can play! SIC EM!”
The words that introduced us to Steeljaw, and by extension, the rest of Blaster’s cassettes.
Was happy to hear the 2022 update. Bravo sir. It wad a interesting comic series
Steeljaw definetly was one of the standout new characters of RID 2015, but I think another one was Strongarm, the police-bot. Would be nice to see a video about her any time soon.
Alright
I like her as she's one of the few female transformers who isn't built like Arcee. Sure she's still somewhat slender but she wears her kibble proudly.
@@JadeMythriil I remember Victorion drew some inspiration from her according to designers
Plus i think it's been leaked that strong arm is getting a legacy toy.
another thing is that "Strongarm" is another of those names that was used for different, unrelated characters until we got the definitive user. Like Barricade and Knockout. so, that would be interesting to see.
funny, when this video got released, five minutes before that, I saw an RID Steeljaw toy and I couldn`t remember their name, till I saw this video got released lol.
amazing video as always, I love learning about lesser known Transformers
I love the Steeljaw being a gold lion and his personality 🤎🤎❤️🧡🤩🤩🤍😍💖❣️💜🥰💘💘
Steeljaw will always be a fierce lion to me. He and Ramhorn were amongst my favorites growing up, along with Buzzsaw and Ravage. There were some EPIC fights.
I love his story origins too💝💝💗💗🖤💙💜🥰💜🥰❣️❣️
So, I'm currently re-watching this video, and I noticed that at 2:49 in the video, Twincast has the Autobot insignia on his crotch in what I presume to be the box art for the toy.
Yeah, that's were the rubsign insignia is on the toy! The Twincast toy didn't have the regular big Autobot symbol on its chest like Blaster, even though it was there in the cartoon. Reissues would add it, though!
The fact that a simple character from generation one went from one of the few good characters from rid 2015 is really cool in my opinion
Also Shattered Glass Steeljaw’s colors are based on the black lion of Voltron
I love how you always put puns at the end of ur videos
I like the Autobot lion version best. It may just be sheer fondness from childhood though.
I actually had a feeling this one was coming, but given it was one I suggested a long time ago, I’m not complaining.
From all the decepticons in RID, Steeljaw was the best! Hate or love the show you can't say he wasn't awesome.
"for one that turned into a blaster for his master" sounds like a killer line for a rap or something
8:40 Steeljaw's face looks badass as hell here.
5:15 well that rhymed
Now this was very interesting. Keep up the good work Chris. Also, would you mind doing an episode on, for example: Kup, Fortress Maximus, the Stunticons and maybe even all the characters who have borne the name Silverbolt.
Can't wait for my SS86 Steeljaw to arrive in October!
That's why I hope they bring back the cassett-bot, but with a different name.
Say what you will about RID 2015, but it was nice to see a main group of decepticon villains that didn’t include any of the big four (Megatron , Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave)
I feel like dreadwing was another example from prime outshining his predecessor
Dang..this is one of those rare cases I like both incarnations! I just wished his RID incarnation transformed into a Wolf but he still has a great robot/werewolf hybrid design!
Can we all agree RID steel jaw is the best antagonist of the show?
His va did a good job
Always a great way to start a Saturday morning!
Honestly, I like the G1 Steeljaw instead of the RID 2015 Steeljaw. Because, his Lion like figure is one of my favorites and one of the... most favorite Casset minicon of Road Blaster
I have to admit ive always had a soft spot for G1 Steeljaw but while i never got into RID15 i do like their version as a villain hes like the charming charismatic schemer most versions of Starscream think they are
In theory, RID 15 Steeljaw’s body in yellow, turning into a cassette onscreen could work for a BW version of the lion.
I never thought this day would come thankyou
From blasters literal tape buddy to a literal traitor that is even bigger and is even more powerful like how bro-
Is it just me or the Shattered Glass Steeljaw is a fan of Voltron? He sports the deco of the black lion, wings and all.
He's based on the black lion that forms Voltron, but due to trademark unlikely to see as toy
yeah I thought that too. Good luck getting him past the IP lawyers.
The master-blaster reference has been duly noted 🤣
Rid steeljwas was argubaly the beast character, from a underrated and hated show,I don't understand the hate for rid 2015
How could anyone hate it? It was the first transformers show I watched.
@@LordProteusthe unique decepticon designs were the best part of the series tbh
7:23 I know that in my expanded headcannon, after the end of R.I.D. 2015, he would make contact with Troy Baker's character from Duane Capizzi's: Carmen Sandiego and would form an alliance (along with other Decepticon recruits from Termagax) with VILE to restore the cause and his empire.
By the way what happened to sharp claw after rodimus defeated steel jaw? 🧐🤔 ( 8:32 play mode )
For as much as I dislike RID '15, Steeljaw was neat. And it was nice having an antagonist in a TF show that wasn't Megatron for once.
4:57 Oh it's... adorable
In my Transformers fanfiction, I'll go with the G1 Steeljaw. He needs a better comeback.
I hope we get to see another Steeljaw based on his RID version in a series soon, especially with his sister!
Thanks for the fantastic video as always, Chris. Blaster and his cassettes are my all time favorite TFS; hoping you do the rest of them. 👍
8:03 This storyline also occurs in my Robertverse.
“…Taken Offline by a Cosmic Powered Starscream.”
Steeljaw from G1 will always be the best original character in TF but Steeljaw from TF RID is pretty Badass.
Think I prefer the wolf 🐺 Steeljaw! Also...you were just dying to work in Blaster Master to this episode 😆
Okay, I want a toy of Steeljaw based on his Last Bot Standing design so badly now. Especially if Sharpclaw comes with him.
I’m thinking of my own version of steeljaw who was born as a normal transformer, but got a wolf upgrade later, he leads a crew of Decepticons who he names his pack and his greatest rival is ironhide.
I have to say, RID15 Steeljaw is probably my favorite thing to come out of that series
