Back in the day when I was in college (mid to late '90s), there was a jukebox in the student center and it was set to play everything for free. This was one of the records they had in there and It got played multiple times a day LOL. I'm sure people probably got sick of it but I always loved hearing it come on!
Amber: "My parents used to talk about Drive-in Movies all the time. J looks at her. Amber goes" No no not like that". Sorry Amber but it's YES, YES, YES!!! It was like that.
Their most popular song is "Every Rose Has its Thorn", which is a ballad. But my favorite ballad by them is"Something to Believe In". Another fun song by them is "Nothing But a Good Time". This was definitely my era and almost everything was about FUN, and damn I miss that!
YES!! I think “Something to believe in” is superior to “Every rose has its thorn” too. I always loved Poison and all the ‘80’s hair bands, that was my era too. A couple of my first album buys with my own money from my first job were Ratt and Twisted Sister 😂 Those were a little before Poison and Motley Crew came to be well known, which I’m sure you remember. I rocked spiked leather bracelets as a preteen because of Ratt 😂 I even have pics of me sporting my big hair throughout my teenage years to prove it too 😂🤣😂🤣
@@NativeNYerChicHK I know that Every Rose Has its Thorn was written about Brett's ex, but Something to Believe In has so much more raw emotion in my opinion. I loved Twisted Sister! They gave the P. M. R. C. hell.
Listen to their song "Something to believe in".NOT about sex, drugs or rock and roll. All about serious social issues. And,it's a beautiful song. It's a classic.I highly recommend it,so you can get a better opinion of them than a silly "hair band",singing about nothing but "sex, drugs and rock and roll".I think that stereotype is what brought about "power ballads".These bands wanted to show that, although they are mostly about good times and partying, they are also serious musicians, who can write serious, though provoking songs about serious love and about social issues.
@mark tamayo And,in most cases, the record companies were right. The slow love song/power ballads that were completely opposite of the bands usual style ended up being their biggest hits.
@mark tamayo All I can say is,if these bands hate their biggest hits so much, they can always send the millions that they made from them to me.They seem to have no problem with spending the money that they "lowered" themselves line their pockets with.
What's up with Drive in's??? Ah man am I that old!?! WOW, you missed out on so much! Let's just say that I can't remember most of the movies!! ROCK ON!! Jeff
My first concert was Dio with Twisted Sister opening. I think it was about 2-3 months after that show that TS started headlining arenas themselves. Good times!
Poison is a fun band, they were great live too. Can’t really think of a bad song. Tons of fun songs with this kind of vibe and several excellent ballads as well. Always viewed them as a bit lighter than Motley Crue. MC had a much heavier sound, but they were all singing about the same stuff mostly.
Saw them back in '90 with Warrant then saw them again 20 years later with Ratt. They really did not lose a step and unlike Vince Neil(saw MC with Alice Cooper about 8 years ago), Bret did not lose the ability to keep up with all the lyrics.
Poison was and is a kick ass rock band. My stepdad went to high school with there bass player Bobby Dall. I got to hang out the band when I was 13. Was an awesome time

Hey James and Amber, you requested more Poison songs, here's a few more: I Want Action I Won't Forget You Every Rose Has It's Thorns Something To Believe In Unskinny Bop Nothing But A Good Time
"Your mamma don't dance and you daddy don't rock-n-roll, When evening rolls around and it's time to hit the town, where do you go? You got to rock it!".
They were having the time of their lives. Seeing them in person and watching "CC pick up that guitair and talk to me!" was one of the best moments of my life.
The epitome of 80's glam! Love this band. Other songs, Unskinny Bop, Fallen Angel, Nothin But a Good Time, Something to Believe In, Every Rose Has it's Thorn.
Man I am 54 years old, I was 13 to 23 during the greatest era ever THE 80'S and I have gone to many many concerts and almost every band in those days were full of energy and fun and put on GREAT shows....
I'm not a Poison fan AT ALL but this song is a classic and I love it! Perhaps it's the up-beat tone, the fun they're having with it, but something about it has always made it one of my favorite rock songs from that time. Aside from this song, I really never appreciated Poison that much or any other songs they came out with but THIS song rocks and makes me happy every time I hear it.
I was obsessed with lead singer Bret Michaels back in the day lol. His posters plastered my bedroom walls lol. And now, today, with Bret getting older and doing more, my mom loves him.. Like she's in love with him lol. Once upon she made fun of me for liking dudes wearing makeup and now she'd probably leave my dad for his sexy butt 😆
I was offered a backstage pass once by CC but I didn't take it I was a Bret girl. And we all know about those passes. They may have been disappointed to learn I was only 16 anyway
Brett is the coolest and sweetest guy you will ever meet. He actually took time to pitch softball with my daughter years ago at one of his shows. She still talks about it to his day.
Poison was just as energetic live as they portrayed in the video. Bret Michaels (lead singer) has enough energy and charisma to fuel an entire arena. He was actually one of the very few who didn't go hard into drugs. He has diabetes so he's always been very health conscious. Probably why he ages so well. He didn't kill his body like the rest of us did, lol.
Maybe he didn’t become a drug addict but I heard in a documentary about them that in the prime time of their career, he did drink heavily and did use a lot of drugs.
Brett Michaels, C.C. Deville, Bobby Dall ,and Ricky Rocket. Poison as well as Motley Crue were big in 80's. Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll definitely applies to both bands. And they both have a lot of good songs. Poison has a couple power ballads you should check out "Something to Believe in' and 'Every Rose Has It's Thorn'
Motley Crue we’re the founding fathers of 80s Hair bands. They started the whole big hair and makeup(unlike Kiss’ whole face makeup) it was a sexy makeup look. Motley Crue we’re all about sex, sex, and drugs, where Poison were Motley Crue light. Poison were the pretty boys of hair metal.
For this band, I suggest "Unskinny Bop" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". They have a ton of songs, but those 2 showcase different aspects of their music. Brett Michaels is the leader. Still has those beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous smile. He was diagnosed with type I diabetes back in the sixties, when he was 6 years old and had to learn to manage his disease from the beginning with multiple insulin shots daily. He has done a lot for kids with diabetes and has been an advocate for not letting your disease stop you from reaching your dreams. Aside from that, he has had other health problems over the years, including the discovery or a congenital hole in his heart. Most babies who are born with this condition outgrow it, I guess you could say, because it will eventually close on its own. Some, like Brett's never do and have to be handled later in life. Many other things have happened, but he has managed to survive and thrive.
Check out "Look what the car dragged in", "You're momma don't dance", and "Fallen Angel". I saw them in concert in Nashville back in 88 and they put on one helluva a show, but my friends they are no Motley Crue :)

Some more great 80s/early 90s rock songs that we would all love to see reactions for: Warrant "Down Boys" "Heaven" "Cherry Pie: / Twisted Sister "We're Not Gonna Take It" "I Wanna Rock" / Quiet Riot "Cum On Feel The Noize" "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" / Beastie Boys "You Gotta Fight (For Your Right)" "She's On It" "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn" /
Having grown up in the 80s Poison for my circle of friends was considered a poser band. They played well, they had good but radio friendly songs they were very glammed up But they were not bad boys. The girls love them especially Bret Michaels the singer and they wanted their boyfriends to be like them and all the boys wanted to be either like somebody from motley Crue or someone from Guns N’ Roses or Metallica, a hell of a lot more edgy. Now Brett Michaels is certainly a class act and is still somewhat relevant in music but in no way shape or form can they be compared to motley Crue. The crew will forever be known as the bad boys of rock ‘n’ roll and they earned it. You really need to see the movie The Dirt on Netflix about them
Having been a Metal Head in the 80s I gotta say we saw Poison and Motley Crue as posers ......looking back now as a musician both bands had good music but if Im being honest Mick Mars couldnt hold CCDevilles jockstrap as a guitarist Mick was a solid but average guitarist on his best day ......CC could play! Just my opinion......but opinions are subjective......
Poison is such a fun band. They've sold 58 million albums and this song peaked at number 9 on Billboard's Hot 100. I've seen them live 6 times and they never disappoint.
Having been a teen in the seventies and young adult in the eighties they were both great. The 20 years of music gave us the best that will never ever be repeated. We truly were the lucky ones
I grew up in the 80s and my elder sister listened to this kind of music for a while. She was always listening to Poison, Motley Crew, Deff Leppard, Europe, White snake, Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Kiss...as well as some Pink Rock like The Clash or Ramones. I only realize now how fortunate I was as a kid and I can't thank enough my big sister for the free education.
Sorry, but Poison can barely carry Motley's jockstraps, much less be better than the Crue. Poison has some great songs, but they are not even close to being in Motley's party hard category.
Motley Crue sux live! Poison was a good band live. They do have good songs but it’s polished for recording not good at all live. Seen them both many times. Motley Crue was harder when they started but the Dr Feelgood album being good is nothing more than a Poison Album.
this was their first big hit, as soon as it aired on the radio it made them overnight famous, FAMOUS!!! they are such a fun party band. They do have some poignant songs; my favorite ballads are Something To Believe in (you MUST hear this!) and Every Rose Has It's Thorn, please please please ^_^ ...Jayyyyy you're adorable, don't be naive, lol...c'mon whatcha think really goes on at drive-ins on dates, LOL
Poison was my band! I had posters, every album and can still sing along to almost every song. The funniest part is the fact that it was my mom who introduced me to hair bands. She was listening to rock while I was listening to country in the 80's. I was born in 1975 so I was 5 - 15 and it was the best time for rock IMO.
Poison was my first concert. Saw them twice now. Always a great show, lots of fun and energy. My favorite 80’s hair metal band. Lots of great fun songs and their more serious songs are great also.
I was so lucky to come of age in the 80's. I can't believe I'm old enough to say: simpler, more decent times. With GREAT rock tunes. Keep Rock Alive!! 🤘🏽🖤🔥🙌🏼 ℁
My very first concert, at 13 years old, was a Poison concert. My Dad took me. The date was February 8, 1989. I still have my ticket.😜 Awesome concert and one of the best times I ever had with my Dad. Poison was an epic band! Check out their song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. Also, you guys are pretty damn awesome as well! Much Love!!❤️
I was high school class of 1981 so I love the 80s rock and this is fun, a local college radio station even had a show called Torn Denim and played nothing but this kind of music
I loved Poison in the eighties. They were one of my favorite "hair bands"! This song is one of their best and most fun songs! They have a couple of great ballads too, my favorite is "Every Rose Has It's Thorns". 💖💖

Dudes!!! This song came out when I was in 5th grade and it was our FAVORITE !!!! We would write T.D.T.M. on our notebooks and stuff trying to get one over on the “grownups” lol… never thought about anything other than the song was a BLAST. Saw Poison in concert when I was 14 and it was so fun! Good times!

They're very much in the same category, Stan.
Poison was my first concert and they were definitely entertainers they were amazing they are even better in concert.
this was their first big hit, as soon as it aired on the radio it made them overnight famous, FAMOUS!!! they are such a fun party band.
They do have some poignant songs; my favorite ballads are Something To Believe in (you MUST hear this!) and Every Rose Has It's Thorn, please please please ^_^
...Jayyyyy you're adorable, don't be naive, lol...c'mon whatcha think really goes on at drive-ins on dates, LOL
Aww ty!Always brings back so many amazing memories. They're still touring to this day.
Poison was my first concert. Saw them twice now. Always a great show, lots of fun and energy. My favorite 80’s hair metal band. Lots of great fun songs and their more serious songs are great also.
This right here may have been the pinnacle of the hair metal genre. And - what happened at the drive-in stays at the drive-in. lol
Went to a Poison concert in the late 80s, and they were awesome! One of the top 'hair bands' of rock!
Love this music from my teenaged years. My favorite song by Poison is Something To Believe In. The lyrics are just wow
All 80s rock songs are on fire!!! Best music ever
The 80's was the decade of decadence for sure! I'm glad to gave been part of the eighties scene! Poison live are amazing.
Poison is one of my favorite bands. They were the first concert I went to. Rikki Rocket, the drummer, was my first music industry crush. I spent most of teenage years listening to them.
I saw them live in the early 90's and they do some crazy stuff on stage. Very entertaining to say the least. Thanks for the reaction!
Loved it!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ They have such a varied catalog... it’s pretty amazing!
The '80's were a killer time to grow up in music & Poison in NOLA was my 1st concert.
"Nothing but a good time". Great band xxx
Good times!
I was in my 20s in the 80s. Wild time! Loved the hair bands. 💜
Oh I loved Drive-ins !! So much fun & all the little kids played in the playground until the movie started.
Great song!! So much fun. Brings back your teenage years!!! Thank you!
Wow!! This brings back soooo many memories. Loved them in the 80s and still.do. ❤🤘
One of my faves! What a great tune! 😎😎😎😎😎👍👍
I met my husband at the drive-in, 37 years ago! He was with friends and I was with friends and one thing led to another and here we are. This song is definitely from that era!!
Big hair was a must for most 80’s rock bands. There was a term used in the 80’s: Drugs, sex, and rock and roll.
we still have a drive in here near me. Every Rose Has a Thorn is my old friends favorite song.
POISON was the epitome of a GOOD time!!!! Saw them live so many times as never a bad show!!!!!
The drive-ins were “THE” spot to take your girl to get a little one on one “conversations”!
The 80’s were the BEST🤩🥰! I miss it so much!😩
I got to see Poison in concert in 1993. Had an amazing time. My 2 absolute favorite songs by them are . Nothing but a good time, and Fallen Angel. Check out those 2 songs . :)
