It's 2021, a new DJI may be looming, however, I'm so glad I chose DJI over GoPro - has been "Rocksteady" and the firmware updates have kept this wee action cam up there.

Anothe amazing review Sagi. Those quick presets and front side screen is huge seller me too. I have the 7 black though so for now I’m sticking with it. It’s amazing what DJI is doing.
Thanks Eric. I really like those features from a user experience standpoint. The screen would be enough to make me switch because I'm so bad at guessing where the camera should be pointed, but there are tons of people who are much better coordinated than me, lol. I promise a GoPro with a front facing screen is coming out next.

As about the Osmo Action, after 2 weeks use, I find it just great. The interface is very friendly and easy to use, front screen helps a lot and easy to mount as it’s compatible with the GoPro accessories. For me personally, Osmo Action is the best action camera, I like it more than the GoPro. But for general users taste, I would say that if it’s not better than the GoPro, than it’s at least the same good.

Very helpful, and I am going to buy it anyway? I am a photographer and now trying to get into recording my trips and much more. Watching the various videos on You-Tube I like what I see being said on this product, it has a lot of versatility and it is well built. Now what is the limit of how big of a card it would accept? Can it go 256 gig? And if shooting at 1080 the battery would last longer? You mentioned you had it on the dash of your car, how long where you able to shoot a video before replacing the battery? All in all you gave a lot of information, thank you. Cheers.
Any idea if this could function on Yolotek boat mount where you plug in charging? The Go Pros supposedly need another housing to work.
3.5 mm mic adapters available for connecting external mic though a separate mic input would be awesome.

Great review. Would you still prefer this over Hero 9 or Max or soemthing else in 2021? I am not sure what to get as I want to get something to put on my helmet and record the scenery when riding. Also I don't have a smart phone and will only use Win10. Do I need a smartphone for these things?

Thanks Peter. That's a good question. It's not something I noticed at all. The case allows for airflow and when shooting, I was pretty much on the move. I have never thought about it until you asked, which makes me to believe that it won't be an issue.
any idea how to pull footage straight off this camera sd card and onto my iphone for editing? can't seem to get any adapters to work.

Thanks! Depends on what you want. I like that the screen is integrated here - but with the new GPH8, you can but it as an accessory with the media kit.

I wasn't experiencing a ton of that so I'm not really use. It wasn't something that I found hindered me in any meaningful way (for how I shoot)

I have this camera over a month now and it really good so far even the battery last longer than the gopro. No problems so far the only think annoying is the double click on the screen to switch to the front one
Thank you for the first hand feedback. You can also switch by holding the QS button on the side if you prefer.
Holding down the switch button also enables the front screen.
What is the lens FOV and is there an opportunity (or choice) to replace it with a lens that is not as wide?
Hi and thanks for the very informative review. Im new to filming and i was wondering could i use this say the DJI Osmo Mobile 3? SO instead of using a mobile phone, is there an adapter available that could merge (Osmo Action and Mobile 3) the 2 devices together?
Glad you liked it! I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm sure if you searched Amazon there will be an adapter for action cameras to phone gimbal. That would be really stable!
Great review. Those running shots look incredibly steady, really rock-steady, but forgot to mention it does not have a GPS (from DJI ????) which I love using on my Hero 7 when traveling and the image delay on the monitors when using rocksteady makes the camera unusable for quick action. So far no way to get audio from an external microphone and internal audio sucks, so will just keep waiting for Hero 8 and will see if GoPro finally makes something that fill our wishlist.

Now there's an attachment for a mic and I believe it simultaneously charges battery as well.
Do you have overheating issues with it? Mine overheats and shuts down. Has since day 1.
Seen some comparison videos of the DJI Osmo vx GoPro Hero 9 the video was pretty good for what I wanted, but the sound quality was terrible, I just wonder how it be with an added external mic.

Was going to buy a GoPro hero 7 but now I am considering this camera seriously.
This was usefull and great review. I want ask if this camera can use bluetooth mic for audio?? Or there is no option for Mic at all. I was going to buy this for shooting daily vlogs... This cost so low that I can buy other accessories with it rather and buying just GoPro...

So direct question: When you are going to pick the Action or the GPH7, what would make you pick a specific one over the other? Or do you feel that they are close enough.
@@TechGearTalk The start of the video at the club house is osmo pocket. Leaving the club house osmo action and coming home. Along the coast and sped up video and the slowed down back into the club house was GPH7. All the stills I took on the Sony 5100. I'm still saving for a G9 :(. I switched to the GPH7 coz the osmo action battery died lol. Only have one battery at the moment. All the vids on the bike were in 2.7k @50. My Imac is 8 years old and is slow to edit 4k :( But osmo pocket was 4k@24. Was only short so imac could handle the short video.

I think the camera is great and with accessories like cages, usb-c to microphone jack externals, and coldshoes it's a great camera and better than a lot of cameras at it's price

Boss, I have a DJI OSMO action camera, when it is turned on for about half an hour the camera is hot, then condenses on the lens's glasses, so the video results are blurry and a little darker.

Lol you're a funny guy! Well I'll tell you this...you and I both prefer that high end video look a mirror less or DSLR gives you but there's nothing like these action camera's as far as being inconspicuous being able to put these little camera's in small area's you can't a bigger camera and the gimbal like stabilization is off the charts compared to our bigger camera's that usually need a gimbal. But I can't wait for the GoPro Hero 7 Black vs DJI Osmo Action Camera video.
