Great review of features. Totally agreed as I also love my DJI Osmo Action BUT you forgot the #1 reason because of which I got away from Gopros (after Hero 7). The Osmo Action WORKS whenever you press on + record. It never frezzes, it never looses a video, it never corrupts a file not even running out of battery while filming (I certainly lost the final seconds but not the whole file) and its touch screen is amazing. Gopro does not care about customers complains so why buying a piece of crap and not the real thing- By the way I also hace an Insta 360 One-R 1 inch and they are both 100% reliable.
Absolutely my hero 8blk convienteley died permanently about a week after a forced update late spring 2022. That was my 1st and my last gohome camera. Insta 360 oneRS is where its at now, and inbthe meantime until I can afford one of those I picked up a absolutely awesome gen 1 Osmo action, totally accurate description what a awesome camera.

This convinced me to switch from saving for an Insta360 Go 2 to a DJI Osmo Action. Great review. Bought it week ago and I'm very happy, that I didn't bought laggy gopro 9, which costs way more and isn't so stable, as dji.

Great review, brilliant camera for the money, hope the revised version will be even better. Use it with an Insta 360 X2 for moto vlogging and general video. I use a Rode wireless for audio if I need the quality.

what is the best setup for night video recording with Rocksteady?
Thank you for the review. I bought one for my moto vloging when riding my bike. The only issue was the lav mic connection that needed a Cynova adapter. I bought one from E-Bay and then one from a DJI retailer. Both worked fine but the first one has a smaller USB c connector. Can you make a review on your mic connector experience. Regards.
May I know if there are alternative mic adapters aside from Boya and Cynova? I'm looking for a smaller kind because those two mentioned were a bit chunky for me.
Thanks for the video. I love my OA. Curiously, the OA INCREASED in price when the OA2 was released. It’s $300 now on Amazon. Weird. I think DJI realized people would go for the OA rather than the OA2.

Awesome and honest review indeed. Just returned my near $550 go pro 10 and hope to get this camera when price drops since $200 price is nowhere to be found. BTW, some people complained about it getting hot and was there recent update to the firmware?
Firmware update happened. It fixed a number of issues. Much better now.

Which external mic are you using?
I got mine this month [Aug 2021] and I don't regret it. I have this and a whole bunch of accessories, extra batteries, 2 carrying bags and so on all for around the same price of one GoPro 10. You have consider the image quality and your usage. I'm not going to film at 5k at 60fps so I'm good.
I'm going to try to put out a not so good unboxing video haul of all of the things I got. I have this and many other videos on UA-cam to thank for it. :)

this is a great and in-depth review video.
23:21 for normal speed footage it might not matter much, but if they are using this to record hyperlapses during the day (for example it's meaningless to record a full 2 hour bicycle ride, but it's meaningful to record a 30 sec hyperlapse of the 2 hour ride), nd filter might be nice, because timelapse or hyperlapse without motion blur is just horrible to watch in my opinion.

I love my Osmo Action Camera, great little camera. on a Crane M2 gimbal its a dream! I also think the Osmo action 1 is better (at least for me) than the new Osmo Action.
I still occasional still use my action. Still a good camera if the situation fits, especially with a light and mic

worth mentioning the 2.7k?? better than 1080p, less file size than 4k, middle bitrate. i use that 80% of the time

Had one and had to send it back twice within a few months. Failed main board and WiFi board and battery. Had drop out issues when streaming as well as the camera randomly shutting down. Have they fixed those issues?
Any tech can have the odd bad build. You are the first person I have seen who had a hardware problem.
Great detailed review. The Osmo is great. Whereas Go Pro suck as a company. That subscription nonsense didn't sit well with me earlier this year when I ordered (and later cancelled) a Hero Nine at full price. Lots of videos on overheating issues with the Hero Ten. With Go Pro fans/apologists bending over backwards using electric fans etc. trying to get the Go Pro through tests on their UA-cam channels. They should have given it a chilled Martini and they might have squeezed another minute of play time out of it. 🙂
Seriously though Go Pro who wants to have to baby an Action Cam? Beyond of course outright brand loyalists who will buy your products no matter what. I will stick to my 2019 Osmo Action for less than half the price. Not because it's cheaper but because it's reliable and easy to use.
I only bought mine this year. I actually had a Hero 9 ordered and luckily came across some impartial videos discussing all the issues. Namely the slow touch screen and more importantly the camera freezing during filming. I cancelled my order and got the Osmo instead.
I think you need to spend more money on design and testing and less on marketing and constantly rushing to release a new model every year.
People keep saying they paid only 200 bucks for this cam, yet still I can't seem to find it for any less than 300?! What's up with that?

I think the price varies on some sites. I hope you get it for 200 but it is still a steal at 300. The new model (if rumours are correct) is going to be a modular design more like the Insta 360 or the old Go Pro Session. I would have preferred an improved version of the Osmo but that's just a personal choice. I am very happy with the 1st version. I wouldn't go near the Go Pros. Even though the Osmo was released in 2019 it is just trouble free.
I only got mine earlier this year. I had a Go Pro Hero 9 ordered for over twice the price. Then I stumbled on some impartial reviews and cancelled. I got the Osmo instead. Good decision.
Unlike the reviewer I got a SmallRig metal cage for mine. For extra protection and to add mikes and lights. But they are in no way essential. You can also get lighter plastic cages. Pgytech do one.
Anyway get one if you can!

it happens due to dynamic lighting only in indoor. good lighting/ fixed ISO/HDR mode is a work around for that.
@@shuttlebadminton24 Thank you. Yes HDR helps but I was facing issue while cycling and faced flickring issue on road side shops. for that I have used manual shuttter speed of 100. HRD do not have rocksteady so I can not use for cycling. Keep it up
@@007Tenalirama personally it never happened to me but in bad lighting condition there will be some banding in the video. If it is happening in a good lighting condition then check with product support.

It's out not and action 1 is still better in my opinion. Action w overheats faster than gopro and shuts you off
what about the heating issues...it automatically gets turned off recording after 5-10 mins

no such issues for me, I recorded 4.5 hrs session continusouly. you have to use high speed memory card.

Not anymore. Firmware sorted that out.

i don' understand all these good reviews, i own a Osmo Action since a few months and the minimum focus distance is like 60cm or more, so for vlogging??. If the subject is closer, it is out of focus. Also photo quality and video quality, there is always a lot of noise, even in ISO100 on a clear sunny day. A real disappointment....
