    I just maidened mine today. She flies like a dream. I don’t have the flaperon setup but even with just the standard aileron setup I was able to pull some decent snap rolls for the first time. The one thing that was a bit worrying was the low power cutoff. On my first battery the motor cut right after I landed thankfully but if I had been higher it might have been a bit scarier. But on my second battery I was a bit more careful and I had no problems whatsoever.

    Thanks for the new video guys! Loved your take on the new Timber X. I just picked one up last Saturday (March 2nd), and I have to admit that I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this one until I saw the videos. I'm no where near the pilot for 3D maneuvers, it looks like that I have a lot of practice to do!

    After having mine for a month and the weather is finally cooperating I maddened my X1.2 today. The plane flies really nice! It flies like a dream! Unfortunately though I had found one of the weak spots, I had broken the right landing gear base completely off. Hopefully a little model glue for the plastic and some foamtac for the foam will make it strong enough for future landings. 😁

    Nice video! Keep these coming. I also have a suggestion, I think you should do some part of the review on your building table inspecting build quality. As an example what type of hinges this have? Are they foam hinges or nylon hinges? Or does the battery compartment allow for different sizes of batteries? This type of information about the build quality is important for me. You can check out Andrew Newton's reviews as an example. He actually makes reviews in two videos: first video is unboxing and build review second one is flight review. I will keep watching you regardless because I like you but would be happy to see more in depth reviews. No channel has your video production quality and your air to air footage so if you would improve your airplane reviews they would be one of the best.

    The first symmetrical wing plane I ever flown was a pod and boom glider kit called a sorceress by M&M glider tech. It was so fast. no rudder. Bank and yank.
    I had a glider pilot “island Dentist Bob” came up to me and said the maneuvers I was doing would kill the pilot. It was slope only.
    I lived in the Virgin Islands on St. John and I would fly from the dirt road in front of Peter Max’s house. It was fun.

    I put those 4" Timber wheels on my FT simple cub and they are so bloody cool! I do have the C motor (1180kv) with 3s 1550 tattu battery. Highly recommend the C motor in the Cub. She screams! I did lose maybe a minute or two of the 12 minutes runtime but, I never like to run my batteries below 3.6v per cell...just to be safe.
    Timber wheels... try it out. Really give the Cubbie that Carbon Cub/flying cowboy look!

    So, are the speed controller and receiver with the smart capabilities transferable to other planes? The reason I ask is because I don't want to skip the beginner stages that I feel are necessary to enjoy the hobby long term, and also don't want to become bored quickly with my purchase dollars. Great channel by the way.

    • @GearheadENG
      @GearheadENG 4 роки тому +2

      You can transfer the reciever to a different plane but it wouldn't be recommended because the gyro and settings are programed for this plane. For a first plane, I would recommend a Bixler 2 from Hobbyking for $77 and then install a $30 LemonRX LM044 stabilizer reciever. The Lemon is very easy to set up and it just uses switches and pots to adjust the settings. The Bixler uses a 3S 2200 lipo which could also be used on the Timber X when you a ready for a more capable plane.

I’ve been looking to buy my first rc plane, and thought this may be ok with all the safe features. I actually wanted a warbird Bc they’re just my fav planes far as looks. But everyone says don’t buy a warbird for my first plane. I also don’t wanna buy a cheap plane that I will outgrow too fast. Any recommendations?

    I don't know where these vids are taken, but in SE WI (where I live) you can't fly any R/Cs that close to buildings or dwellings without a very hefty fine, or possibly some jail time. I wish we could do that here, but we have to drive about four miles west out of town to an officially approved R/C flying field (a real bummer!) because we are within the area of two major FAA TCAs!!! And there are a few smaller, but still major, airports in the vicinity. We are between Milwaukee General Mitchell Field and O'Hare International Airport. The Feds are paranoid and get real nervous about R/C stuff in the air (including small drones). If they are over a certain size and weight, you need to be licensed and insured up the wazoo to even put any R/C's into the air.
    Welcome to America home of the free!!! 😎 ⛈

    • @Emikolaitis
      @Emikolaitis 5 років тому +1

      As an FAA employee, someone who lives within 20 miles of O’hare and knows of a sanctioned RC field on one of the main approach paths to midway within 8 miles, and also someone in the hobby for the last 2 decades. I’m going to go ahead and say you do not understand the rules. All laws are federal, not local. So your rules in Wisconsin are no different than mine in Illinois or theirs in Ohio. The RC community is fairly self governed with a few actual faa rules which is next to almost nothing. I suggest you read up.

    • @Emikolaitis
      @Emikolaitis 5 років тому

      @@terryisaac8195 if you want the bare basics to be safe and covered. Register with the FAA for 10 bucks a year and display your number on all aircraft 250grams or more. Find the closest flying field near you and use that place. Some require memberships some are open to the public. As for insurance, join the AMA. Its 100 bucks a year, which isnt cheap, but covers up to a million in insurance if I remember correctly. You technically can also use your personal property insurance as well if you're a homeowner but why risk it. And you get magazines I believe from them for that price as well. Dont fly irresponsibly or over crowded areas. And that's pretty much it. Bare basics that is.
      Only real restriction for airspace is actually flying WITHIN the confines of a towered airport's airspace. You can fly UNDER. But not within without permission from said tower. In which they will never give permission, but may deny. Typically that's only within 5 miles of the airport would you have to worry about being in their airspace as the first shelf is the only one that is from the surface and upward. Outside those five miles their airspace is all different but its higher than any normal person would fly their aircraft. At least via line of sight.

      Look up the hobbyzone champ. 89.00 bucks with everything, that means charger, battery and controller, Spektrum Technology. You'll be flying like a champ in 2 flights. Awesome beginner plane.

      @@satyanpatel6403 I don't know, I'm turning 15 in May & my mom doesn't like spending money on useless things. I had 2 rc planes before, but they both broke because they were like a Chinese off-brand plane. They didn't have moving parts like the rudder & stuff.

    So disappointed to hear that it has the same fuselage. I can't tell you how many times the entire motor housing has been pulled away from the fuselage while in flight. I've had this happen on no less than 5 fuselages. There's also many stories on different boards out there of people that have experienced the same thing.

    $239? A tad high, though it is a bigger motor.

    Just so you guys will know, its not the same fuse, the X fuse has carbon rods in the front to make it tougher and the rudder and elevator are BIGGER then the original Timber.. its great on 4s but you can fly it fine on 3s with the stock prop. I have done it on video on my channel.. i have also flown it with 3s and the 13x6.5 prop video on my channel.. but i love it on 4s i'm a 3d Guy . Dude.. you need to learn to land LOL.. I can land it right at my feet. it will harrier/STOL land great
