Here I am 4 months later and i still enjoy watching this video. I can surely tell that you had a lot of fun flying this airplane. This Timber is surely worth the price for the amount of fun that one can have with it.
    Update 11/02/2020
I'm still flying my Timber, and although I've crashed it a couple of times it's easy to fix. It still flies very well. The airplane is definitely not beginner friendly, but anyone with some experience can easily fly it, as long as they have their radio settings properly set.

I completely agree! It takes a bit of skill and lots of discipline otherwise it will lead you into some really crazy stuff. Thank goodness for the SAFE switch on this one.

You've helped me decide, especially since your test flight was in windy conditions. Was looking at Carbon Cub, but this baby looks great and seems to love to fly especially with the 4S. Great Video!

Oh my God!! Somehow I have read my manual for this plane multiple times, but still haven’t put it together!! I watched multiple videos on this plane, and somehow I have not seen anyone use a 4S battery.
If I could give you a big hug sir, I most certainly would.I did not realize and don’t even have any clue on how long it would’ve took me to realize that this was a 4S capable airplane.
I currently have seven airplanes five of them in boxes and built, Mostly because I only have 2 3s batteries and I believed all of them needed 3S.
Thank you and thanks to you for this video now I can put together two of them at least and go fly them. I have a few 4s & Only 2 3s Batteries.
If I could give you multiple liked/thumbs up on this video I would!!
You have been a unmeasurable amount of help to me!! 🤭🧐🤓😉🧐😳👍👍

Oh no it’s me again! I bought the PNP version and I wish you would’ve posted that you have the Bnf Version. As it’s taken me 14 minutes into your video to find out your video doesn’t apply exactly to my needs..
Regardless I have given you thumbs up on this video because of your build being fast and precise and not a bunch of BS talking in between doing anything. 👍👍👍

hi, great video of this plane. got this for christmas, can you see if your ailerons and flaps are using pinned hinges and also have one anchor pin that is positioned above each hinge with a little white plastic cap over each anchor pin? I do not have the pinned hinges so I'm wondering if I got an old model that's been sitting around an amazon warehouse for a year. The pinned hinges and anchor pins keep things from coming apart and I've heard good things about them. Thanks in advance for any assistance with that!

    I just ordered a Timber X ...
My concern is a few guys at my local club have had issues with their Timber's main gear, complaining it's a known weak spot.
Since I have not yet received or assembled the plane, I was wondering if you might have a recommendation of how to strengthen this area , during the build and before I take it out to the field.
Also, the field I fly from offers the choice of a very rough asphalt pad with a lot of cracks or an area of longish rough grass.
Also I am a somewhat beginner pilot and would appricate any advise you can offer when I maiden it....
    Thanks ....

All timber series tend to have spring problems you may want to replace the landing gear somehow

Great review! I can hear in your voice how much fun that you were having!
I bought it. I assembled it. I flew it. I crashed it on my maiden. But while it was in the air it flew like a dream! Unfortunately it doesn't take hard landings very well, I had completely broke off the right side landing gear mount and the prop. Repairs are in (and on) order.

I can come back to this video again and again. I still have a Timber X (my 3rd!) and every time I let it go I end up buying another....if I could own only one plane, this would probably be it. Just waiting for Horizon to release a Timber X Bipe!

    2 questions - please
    1. what prop size did you have in mind if you change from the stock one ?
(for not doing the extreme 3d stuff)
    2. do you think she would fly even better without the duck feet ?
I have the UMX Timber and fly her without the landing gear
and she has a beautiful profile in the air, is lighter weight, more aerodynamic
and I use her as my little aerobatic trainer - she does most of the things I saw
her older sister do in this video.

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  5 років тому +1

      1) Never changed the prop, only used the stock prop. If you want mild flying, just use a 3S Battery and use throttle. ;p
      2) It would certainly fly faster without the landing gear but you would be missing out the fun of touch-n-goes. It is plenty of aerobatic with the landing gear.

Excellent videos, very useful commentary and nice flying. Enjoyable to watch, and good information, great job buddy. I was wondering about the newer versions of the Timber, I've watched your reviews of both the Turbo Timer and the Timeber-X. I'm still flying an original Timber that I got when they were first released. The big tires and spring landing gear make the Timber series of planes perfect for grass field flying. I've got a total of 333 flights on her now, the last 26 are on floats. The Timber is excellent on floats, it's typical behavior is great for learning to fly float planes. Anyway, I like your video productions, I'm gonna look more at your channel to see if you've done anything with the Twin Otter. thanks

Love your videos, we would get along very well. I am considering this plane as a park flyer out of a ball field near my house. Think it would be a good choice for a first plane? I have had a few other planes (balsa stick built) which I got tired of fixing and soon let gather dust. All the work of repairing kept me from flying. I want to get serious about learning to fly, and will be doing it on my own. I have a good understanding of how planes fly, just need to train the brain how to do it with an RC.

    • @HobbyView
      @HobbyView  4 роки тому +1

You could learn to fly on the Timber X, I think the Turbo timber would be better, or oven the Mini Apprentice S for small field flying.
I'd also look into getting a simulator.

@@burntkat , You want something that uses a real transmitter for control and not a game controller. RealFlight has very low system requirements.
You can find some older versions on ebay for good prices if you are really concerned with PC performance.
