I have just purchased your freedom fox and I am planning to install a headtracker on the wing but right now I have been injoying flying in the way it is, thanks for the kit and I have been watching Trent for a year or so and back in the 90s I was planning to get a Kitfox so it's great to own my own now.
Dear Flite Test friends. Last week, after almost a week of working with your sales rep Corey, I was rip-roaring to go with purchasing both the Freedom Fox, AND the Super Cub. The Cub will be a sacrificial plane for me to learn the RC system, even though I have commercial ASMEL, IFR, and CFI ratings. On the morning of my intended purchase I was surprised to read the reviews for the Freedom Fox. They were uniformly critical about the paint flaking off, and broken parts found in the box, and other “nuisance?” quality control issues. I have sent Trent Palmer a review about these matters, and asked him to review your product since his words and endorsement swung me (and others) over to buy it. While building the first stage, and test firing the 2nd stages, of the Saturn V rocket in New Orleans, I uncovered seemingly “insignificant items” would have slowed down the assembly time of the first stage and would have most definitely destroyed every 2nd stage, Remember we made it to the moon with just 5 months to spare from the original proposed date! So your “insignificant items” aren’t as small as you think, and I did want you to know about this. By the way, I did purchase the Super Cub which got very high reviews!!!!!
Josh, I have been following your channel since near the beginning. I call that the early Josh & Josh days in the garage. Love how your team has built the business and you have a winner with Freedom Fox. That is a beautiful model. Hailey should be consulted to fly the model FPV before Trent puts her back on the controls of the original. Good job to all of you!
the kitfox really does fly scale im very impressed with it. I really hope you guys have more of these types of models in the future. There maybe some critics out there with different opinions about this model but its unlike anything out there on the market that flies like the real thing.

This looks better than my timber x, and night timber, carbon cub ss. The way they packaged and thought about this stuff is incredible. Ill be buying one asap. Hopefully horizon takes some notes on how this plane comes. Paint schemes etc etc etc
Its a awesome looking model. I love the landing gear and tires. I just flew one yesterday. Ots got lots of power but rolls like poo lol. Flaps are effective. Slows down nicely.
Making a flat show-n-tell model was/is a clever idea. I am getting very interested in those gyro control modules. I am thinking it would make life so much easier when it is time to maid a new model since getting a nearly wind free day is a real challenge where I live not far from Texas.
Seeing this got me as exited as a kid at Christmas. Of all the scale planes i have ever seen this is the one that fools me into thinking its real the most - especially in the footage of it landing. I have tried to give some of my Timbers a scale look but i am never totally happy with the result mostly because the Timber lives as its own unique creation and never existed full size. Cant wait to track one of these down in the UK. I prefer the look of 2 blade props but the Turbo Timber set up works well as a 3 blade set up, did you guys consider trying that in this model?
I agree many of us here in the UK will want this lovely model in our hangar,I attempted to contact Messrs Perkins Distribution who are Flitests UK distributor but as yet no reply to my request ? Flitest if you are reading this please ensure stocks are readily available outside of the USA with accompanying communications from the agents otherwise these enticing videos are of no use ! I understand that no suitable three blade propeller could be sourced according to Trent Palmer .This is certainly one of the most exciting releases of ready to fly models in recent months but please take note of what I am saying.
Their prop options were probably limited to what skyartec had in house. Go back and see the reviews. The distributor probably isn't answering for a good reason.
Three bladed props for RC currently exist and you could easily put one on this airframe. However, do to the smaller size and the nature of physics, they are significantly less efficient causing you to pull more power and lose performance. You'd likely need a motor/ESC upgrade. Although cool looking, they don't make a lot of sense for RC.
Frankly for my non-scale ft builds I have switched to using mostly tri blade quad props. Extremely light, tons of options for pitch, surprisingly durable, and you can get a bag from rdq or getfpv for dirt cheap.
Josh, can you provide a list of the components you are using in this video? The links provided do not list any of the components you are using, specifically the receiver. I just received my PNP kit and now need to order the rest of the parts. Thanks.
Why are their so many negative reviews on your store from folks that have purchased and flown this plane ?. There are several good reviews but they seem to be by folks that have not actual flown the plane. I see that there is a $20 increase in the price, is this to cover any improvements needed ?. If there are issues I'm sure you guys will address them.
Very pleased with it! A real bush plane as expected! I received the plane a few days ago in the UK, it was a bit upside down in the box due to international shipping but nothing to worry about. I noticed minor scratches and the black paint tends to chip off slightly. But really, this is a very minor cosmetic issue. The rest of the plane looks great! Flying conditions on the first day were windy but it still flew very well. I love slow speed and touch and go and the plane behaved very well with this. I don't have tons of experience so I flew with the Spektrum AR637T receiver which has a gyro stabiliser and it was perfect. Don't pay too much attention to the negative reviews. This is a very fun plane and I definitely recommend it.
Yes, it's only rated for 3s. Flite test has really pushed the 3s platform so they are probably targeting their current following, likely already stocked up on 3s batteries. However, for a plane this big it really should have a lower kv motor and a 4s battery rating. With a 3s battery, 30a ESC, and a 1250kv motor (no mention of the size), this is likely very underpowered. This would explain why Josh said MANY times that it's a scale flyer and you can't rely on prop power. For a scale flyer it's likely amazing. For the money and capabilities, I'd go with a Timber X 10/10 times.

I’m not usually one to post bad reviews but I received my plane today and upon taking it out of the box I noticed the tail lite was broken off and minor damages to the fuselage and wing. I messaged flute test and they gave me a partial refund which was fine. Then upon assembling I noticed the landing gear was broken and the wink was bent up at a 40 degree angle. I contacted them again and they said they would send me a new wing and landing gear. I went and flew it any way and it is a bear to take off and land, nearly impossible because of how springy the landing gear and tires are. It also was way under powered. I messaged them a third time asking for a return and they accepted my request. 10/10 for customer service but 3/10 for plane. Flite test has some serious problems they need fix in this plane
I learned it was a good idea to wait for reviews when the ft freighter came out. That plane was a 3-4 year old Chinese made plane that was rebranded and marked up.
Sorry about your plane being busted, bit it seems like your review is way off compared to literally every other review out there. Nobodys saying underpowered (other than the fact that is a scale model) and most everybody loves the gear...

PLEASE tell me that this plane will be made again in the future....I am at a point in my life where I'm finally able to afford one but that are off the market now :( This was the only RC plane that I ever truly got excited for and I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was available now. This is the 170 I take care of. She was built in 1950 and so was I. we are both 70 years old and still kicking.

The efficiency difference is very minimal. Manufacturing costs and having a prop already that works was probably the main factor.

Yeah it looks great but why didn't they do an interior on it......The battery hatch is separate, they easily could have.
