I've been a patent attorney for 10 years. Patent pending means you DO NOT have a patent. It only means your application hasn't been rejected yet. I can Patent Pending Water if I wanted to.

During Shark Tank Season 14 Episode 7, we got an official Ooakshell update. Since airing, the company has done over $375,000 in sales. This has allowed Mika to move out of her parent’s house and move into a home with her husband and kids.
Mika has also been able to hire an assistant and get a manufacturing space, allowing her to grow the business. She also shared that Emma has been a great partner to work with and has taught her tons of invaluable information about the fashion business.

Emma's intelligence and wisdom in the fashion space is incredible! She articulated the reason that she needed 20 percent and it all made so much sense. Absolute no brainer to work with her!

Thats the difference between Mark and Kevin, instead of focusing on sales alone , he acknowledged that she made 10 thousand head bands without any equipment, painting each of them on her own. In that perspective she did tremendously well in her business.

What a great presentation. Super happy that she got a deal but I also feel like she should have countered with 15% or 17%. Sharks don't like going lowered than 5% from their initial offers. However the case. YOU GO GIRL!!
Its crazy because emma literally said don't counter too hard and she could of went with 16.5 and emma would of probably taken it. Would of saved herself 3.5% goes a long way

Loved her energy and dedication. Emma will definitely help systemize some of those manual elements to her business and help her scale. Hopefully she is able to enjoy more time with her family
This is an awesome home-made product I could see growing huge if she branches out since she didn't mention that it could be worn around the neck for a scarf (with-out the buckle) or an accessory for a sunhat. Start colour matching with other outfits like the body suit she wore which would be a combo purchase, have just a plain colour line for cheaper $ which could be made in buik and sold for a bit less if she goes into manufacturing so this would increase sales and expand into other markets such as weddings, Christmas, Halloween, parties, concerts, sports games etc. Changing the amount of material for people to wear would be easier to create a wrap for bathers, 3/4 body cover or off the shoulder body cover. There are so many uses and styles for this product, especially if different material is used instead of just tie-dyes she could develop a whole range of different SKU's and then add to that the different tie-dying patterns, or a pick-your-own colours scheme on her website. I hope Mika and Emma make this a huge success from a one person does everything company and Mika gets to spend more time with her kids.

with margins like that and returning customer rate that massive, she could have easily done it for 150K for15% or 250K for 20%, I'm assuming it's not too hard to scale production since it's just cloth and a marketting push and getting it to wholesale is something a shark could do

I think she could of got a counter if she didn't go that low, first that makes sense is 15% to meet in the middle, mabye ask for 17% if you want to play safe, emma was clearly willing to accept a counter if it wasn't too low but when she said 13% it ruined it.
Still 20% is not too bad and getting a shark is well worth it.
