    Sand paper on the dolly is a great trick, thanks for that. I also used bed liner under the entire body of my K5, specifically Raptor Liner. That stuff seems great so far.

      I’ve got some Quartz that seems pretty decent. Used it on the front wheelhouses and looks good.

      I second the motion on the U-Pol bed liner underneath. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. And the Aqua velva painter alway smells better! LoL! DK, Omaha.

    The weld thru by SEM looks copper like U-Pol. Have you had any feedback on the products as I have seen video were zinc burns back into the heat zone!
    Thanks for the video lesson. My bed is wood but just a few brands unbolt as that sure makes a difference! Long bed in 67 = 100 bolts.

      @@StoutCustom if I remember correctly " Hoosier Garage" by Adam just did a quick test with 8 spots welds for each for copper and one zinc.
      Also, "MrFireman164" uses the copper-based U-Pol on everything as he is building a Cameo ground up. He uses copper weld-thru on everything in plug welds or rosesett welds. I think he did a destructive test also. Sorry to bug you, you're a busy man.
      And damn fine at it too! DK, Omaha.

    Love the content. Your doing fantastic work.
    I feel pretty lucky I have LMC and Classic Parts of America I can walk into a short drive away. The freight on parts have to be ridiculous.

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  Рік тому

      That’s pretty cool. I’m close to AMD but they don’t have near as many parts as LMC and Classic. AMD does have most of the larger panels so I can pick them up and save the freight.

    Are you going to paint all the bed panels and then reassemble them? I am prepping the bottom of mine for bedliner as well, but perhaps taking it all apart would be best. Could paint the bedsides flat if doing a solid color. Just not sure on reassembly after it's painted with the factory welds, seam sealer, etc.

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  Рік тому

      I’m going to have to feel my way through it. Like you say there are still the welds to get painted after assembly as well as the seam sealer so….? Most likely I will paint apart and then spot in seam sealer and welds. I think

    • @robbcrabtree
      @robbcrabtree Рік тому +1

      @@StoutCustomI thought maybe panel bind instead of the welds, but that doesn't account for the seam sealer. Could always spot that part in for sure.

      @@robbcrabtree when we do a partial bed repaint for insurance work we tape it off on the seams and it looks good. I figure it should look good if it’s taped off well.

    The best way to learn to watch for one of those welding wire tags is to catch one under the finger nail! Ask me how I know

    What are you going to use to paint your axle? I'm just about to do mine, just got all the bearings, but not sure what to go with. Want something durable for this k30 I'm building.

    • @StoutCustom
      @StoutCustom  Рік тому

      I put epoxy then SEM’s Hot Rod Black. It seems fairly durable but I think powder coating would probably hold up better.

    • @robbcrabtree
      @robbcrabtree Рік тому +1

      @@StoutCustomthought maybe epoxy then thin out some bedliner and shoot from hvlp. Satin black, light texture and should be durable. But if it doesn't turn out, it would be a nightmare to remove, haha.
