Greetings from USA, Detroit, Michigan area! Thank you for this terrific video… very well explained. My son and I are amateur woodworkers (in our garage) and I just purchased my first Festool item: the Domino (smaller machine). I’m still getting used to actually using it and not making so many miscalculations. But learning is part of the whole idea with woodworking. P.S., I also watched your recent video with the giant Walnut planks, and you turning it into a top for a table. Wow, that router flattening work got me exhausted just watching you do it. Turned out really very sharp! Thanks and have a great day!
Hey Rick, That sounds great! Woodworking with your son must be awesome. I can't wait to involve my kids more into the workshop. Up to this point they show quite some interest. Yeah getting started with a new tool takes some time. But as soon as you are up to it, the Domino will be one of your favorite tools for sure. You might want to check out my other video about the 5 Tricks for the Domino 😉 Thanks but flattening the slabs looks some exhausting than it is. Actually it's great fun (besides cleaning all that dust...) Hope you are having a great day, too. Greetings to Michigan 🤗
Best explanation of the connectors and system I've seen yet. Great job. Was wondering if it's possible to put those connectors on the outside of the cabinet? For the bottom it would allow them to be hidden. Thanks!
Good explanation of the Festool domino connector system. I have been looking at this connector system for a while for the cabinets I make. You have made it much easier to understand the different ways it can work. Thank you!
I recently used 4 connectors to attach the top half of a wardrobe (also used 6mm dominos, 6 total). Stock was 18mm plywood and I tried my Seneca Domiplate and it worked great.
Excellent and concise explanation of the system. The official Festool USA videos are done mostly by Sedge. He's a great cheerleader for Festool, and his quick "I hope that helps" tips are great. But he really struggles to explain full systems clearly ... it ends up getting way too long and confusing.
Great explanation, thanks! Just a quick question, is it also possible to align the nut and plastic part on the outer side of the cabinet? That might be a way to hide them when they're facing the floor, or when adding another cabinet on top.
I think a good application is making CKD furniture and cabinets. My garage workshop is down a level, accessed by a lift. Moving the cabinets would be a challenge. The components could easily be transported, piece by piece, and then assembled in situ.
Thank you for the video. These only seem reasonable to use if you have to take cabinetry apart it appears. Very expensive to just join everyday cabinets together with.
Q: is the bigger Dimino a better option if I want to make cabinets, and large furniture? Meaning can I use the smaller bits, joinery, connectors, etc.. with the larger Domino?
The DF500 (smaller domino) is more than capable for most cabinet making and furniture. You can get an adapter to use all the DF500 cutters on the DF700 (larger Domino), Seneca Cutter Adapter I believe its called. The DF700 is ideal for making really large furniture connections at the cost of being much heavier and bulkier to use for smaller stuff. Hope that helps
Why on earth knockdown/cam lock fastners are not widely adopted in US by now? I mean whole europe uses them and i guess they're as sturdy as the classic praised hand made biscuits, hand pockets and so on.
Far too complicated, too expensive, and totally unnecessary. There are far easier, quicker, and much more efficient methods. Good advertising strategies and gimmicky for non professionals with big bucks.
USEFUL!!!! I appreciate your time and presentation!

These are pretty cook. Thanks for explaining them to me. I have the DF500.
This is a fantastic video. Great follow up to the Domino basics / tips video as well
Thanks Daniel! Yeah since that one was pretty well received I wanted to make a follow up 👍

Thanks Hanker! Great to hear.
For sure, I don't see an ossue with placing them to the outside (other than accesibility).
👍

Awesome Larry! That's exactly why I made that video. It looks so overwhelming at first but it is actually pretty simple! Glad it helped 🤗
Thanks this was very helpful to understand the connectors work and which ones I needed
Perfect 👍 Thanks for your feedback 🤗

Gracias amigo!
excellent video, 100% understanding of this system. Thank you!
Good video, I use the D8 and D14 connectors often and they are very good. The more you use the Domino machine, the more uses you find.
I recently used 4 connectors to attach the top half of a wardrobe (also used 6mm dominos, 6 total). Stock was 18mm plywood and I tried my Seneca Domiplate and it worked great.
Neat system and excellent video.
Very nice video explaining the connector use. Would you use these on a baby crib to hold the sides to the front & back?
Greetings! Very well explained! Thank you!!!
Awesome tech I need to get the festool domino!
excellent tutorial. Perhaps festool would sell more if they offered such a simplified explanation.
Excellent. That was very helpful.

Sehr informativ. Danke

Im assuming these would be used for later knockdown only....otherwise what exactly would be the purpose? Great video.

Thank You. Job well done.

Yes for sure that's possible and in some cases nicer as you wrote ;)
@@BauWoodworks Thanks very much!
Nice demonstration!
Thank you, Jeff!

Where do you find the caps that cover the screws?

Can these be used to hold together a bed frame?
Van these connectors be used with an 8mm cutter in the df700 also?
Yes, as far as I know.
When I disconnect the elements and I take out the pin, do they go back in position and keep the connection still tight when I reassemble?

Biggest thing I have to consider is cost. If I choose to go this route for assembling cabinets
How can you remove a broken pin from the kvd8 connector ?
Tanks 😉
Sollte eigentlich schon gehen

You didn’t include a butt joint? Apart from I enjoyed the video, very explanatory 😊
woopsi
So, handmade IKEA? 🤔
I use Lamello Clamex for connections, the rest are Festool domino this hole is a domino curse.
Almost as bad as pocket holes...so many easier and better wats to join two pieces of wood at a 90 deg angle.

Maybe share what those easier, quicker, much more efficient methods are?
