No doubt you've likely tried or at least heard of the American breakfast classic known as Biscuits & Gravy. One morning, while swirling some fork-and-knife biscuits through that breakfast sausage-peppered béchamel gravy, a light bulb went off. How about replacing the biscuits with fluffy pillow of gnocchi (pronounced "no-key") and thinning out the gravy a bit into a more pasta-like sauce to embody it?! Folks, Gnocchi in Sausage Gravy (or "Sauce-age" Gravy) is now a thing and it will be the star of any breakfast, brunch or even dinner at any table! Whenever you choose to make it, it'll be ready in just 10 minutes.

Thanks. This turned out to be quite comforting, for like a brunch dish, and was enough to rebuild my interest in gnocchi after I gave up on it years ago (probably just bought a bad brand at the time). I also picked up a spicy version of the sausage, so I may have to make a spicy version of this next time. Also, I had some opened Boursin, so I mixed a little of that in there. Figured you'd approve. Happy New Year!

I've been told not to use hot water for cooking because that water goes through the hot water heater tank and contains minerals. Instead I use cold tap water and cover the pot with a lid which will help it to heat up faster. This recipe looks amazing. I love anything with sausage in it.

Also, if there is any source of lead in the water supply, starting with hot water supposedly amplifies it.

On special occasions, my Mother would make this from scratch. It’s not something she would make all the time because it was time consuming, and by the time everyone finished eating Mommy was tired. I always did the dishes to give her time to relax. It was always on a Sunday after Mass.

I found you because I was searching specifically for Instant Pot recipes. I stumbled upon this one and it sounded great, so I followed your link and watched your 9.32 minute video, only to find out that there was no Instant Pot involved in this recipe 🙄. Maybe there could be a separate playlist for non-pressure cooker / Instant Pot recipes? Thanks

Great video! As an aside, I've made biscuits and gravy countless times. Depending on the brand of sausage, you may have quite a bit more fat than others and need less butter. You're just looking for fat for your roux. I have made a tremendous gravy without adding butter.

Never use Hot Tap Water. Hot Water Heaters have metal and mineral sediment in the bottom making the water impure. Good for washing and bathing but not consuming.

I do and I’ve never had problems. Retired military, meaning I have lived in many areas around the country. Visited many more, domestic and international. There were a couple of places I couldn’t drink tap water of any kind off base, but most places I could, both hot and cold, on and off base. No ill effects.

Dude. I am in a 420 state. I partake. That's why I like the instant pot. This involves two pots and that's more annoying dishes. Yuck! The instant pot is so easy to clean. I wish for only instant pot recipes :-) what if you make the gnocchi in instant pot, then use the same pot to saute the gravy?
