You're one of the few that catch the puppets and the pebbles symbolism. And licking the bathtub for me is because he's obssesed with Felix and that's like swallowing his essence, so a part of Felix is inside of him because at the same time he wants to be him. Pamela I think is killed by her boyfriend, that's why she wanted to stay longer.

Slurping up a cinematic masterpiece with more vampire action than Twilight.

Your reactions to Saltburn were hilarious! Those shocking scenes were meant to make you squirm, and squirm you did. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you experience the movie for the first time. You survived, congrats! Bath, anyone?

He licked the bathtub, because he was in love with Felix. He just told Elspeth he had a plan, to torture her. He didn’t have a long term plan. All he wanted in the beginning was to get close to Felix.
It’s also confirmed that Elspeth never slept with Oliver. She does not sleep with anyone. (The Wrap interview on UA-cam.)
Everyone misses that Elspeth rolled her eyes when he came on to her. It was a mistake, but also he clearly wanted to sexually dominate her, as we see when he kills her. (It gets worse for me every time.)
The bathtub and grave scene shows is what Oliver really wanted.
That is why I know Oliver is going to be miserable in that gigantic house.
Definitely a pop, and I loved your reactions. You guys really got the comedic aspects from the first watch! ❤

Loved your reaction to this movie, good to see u laugh alot.
I loved this movie, one of the best of 2023, I seen it in a cinema in the UK (my home) the reaction from the audience I wish I could have bottled.
What I took from the movie is its a story of eat the rich, this dysfunctional family look down on the poor/less fortunate and Olly took care of them one by one.
Whilst he loved Felix he wanted to also be him, that's why he drank the bath 😉 water as to ingest him to keep him a part of him.
He played them one by one with their egos took them down and inherited Saltburn.
Some people get confused by the lunch scene after Felix dies its meant to represent the stages of grief round the table, anger, hurt, disbelief etc it's a genius scene.
Also if u look close at the newspaper it tells u how the father died it was natural causes.
The dance at the end was genius with Murder on the dance floor, basically it's ollys victory dance he won he was the puppeteer played them all, if u watch that scene carefully again he actually traces how Felix 1st brought him in the house so basically escorting us back out the home at the movies end if u give it a few watches u will pick up more and more easter eggs as u go about how Olly did it all 😂

The name Saltburn I would assume probably comes from an old English saying of "throwing salt in someone's wound" which means something similar to kicking someone when they're down. because I guess putting salt in an open cut stings or burns. Idk. I just know that it's a saying that exists in English.
So yeah that's where I'm assuming the name Saltburn came from and in this movie it's the name of the mansion Felixs' family owns.

No. It’s a place in GB.

    • @AnxietyRat
      @AnxietyRat 6 місяців тому

@@abcdefgh-mq1di It is also the name of a place in England, yeah. but I don't think this mansion is based in THAT area of England, from what English people have told me... So the name and the location probably aren't connected. 🤷‍♀️ But yeah, you're absolutely right it's also the name of a place.

I'd love a comparison with Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley with Gweneth Paltrow and Jude Law to see which you like better. Ripley is getting a reimagine as a Netflix series with Andrew Scott from All of Us Strangers. The Saltburn writer Emerald Fennell won as Oscar/BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay for Promising Young Woman and the lead was Carey Mulligan(Poor Dear Pamela). Fennell is an Oxford grad so she understood the culture and an actress in the series Call the Midwife on the BBC/PBS. I thought Saltburn was a weird mixture of a Patricia Highsmith novel(The Talented Mr. Ripley), Oliver Twist with the names(Farley; Fagan in Twist), and Downtown Abbey with the classes in wealth.

Glad you guys found the comedy in the film. Not many people watch this movie and react that way. They get caught up trying to figure out some mystery and totally miss the comedy of the interactions.
