Maybe it's just me but I don't think the scenes in Saltburn are that extreme. It's fun watching people react to it though and this was probably one of my favourite reactions to the film. Y'all are endearing as reactors, and I'm definitely subscribing to see future reactions 🙂
The scenes certainly felt shocking to me haha, but i think that's just because there's no way i'd have ever anticipated what Oliver was gonna bloody do next! Really appreciate the kind comments there as well, glad to have you here! 😊
It’s not that they’re graphic… they aren’t. It’s just that they’re very human and realistic and they build tension with silence. Those key scenes usually cut all other sounds out and just sit there in the awkwardness so you’re left to feel as if you were there which makes it more impactful than any normal graphic of violent scene.
I agree. However, it was the lunch and the Happy Birthday ??? that got me. The supposed gross scenes didn't bother me. I have been described as a kinky bitch, so YMMV.
the way they were joking at 24:12 and 25:23 about oliver killing everyone and then- yeah edit: not just that they literally predicted everything like how
Oh man, it's a heavy film isn't it. I definitely felt like i processed more after letting it sit in my head for a day. Then after the editing of this video i feel i know the movie pretty well now 😂
@@JackDanReact I thought it was odd too that Felix accepted the bottle from Oliver after he was done with him, but Felix was intoxicated and perhaps too eager to drink more while dealing with his disappointment with Oliver. There was real hurt in his eyes. I think a bit more to it than just his mother's voyeurism toward the unfortunate, though not returning the kind of feelings Oliver had.
Ok, I'm sold on you two. Love that you actually pause to discuss. Not a lot of reactors do that, and end up missing so much of movies. It was terribly fun watching you two cringe at some of the scenes. Hehe.
Oh for me pausing to discuss is an absolute must! I can't be missing important details whilst talking and then getting all confused. It adds so much time on to the raw footage but totally worth it to not miss any of the story in my opinion! Really glad to hear you enjoyed the video! 😊
That's my pet peeve with most reactors too. Like talk all you want, just stop the thing beforehand. I wonder sometimes if it's just a tactic to get people talking and explaining the missed parts in the comments.
Something that I find really interesting and just few people I've talked to or seen reviews got it: [obviously spoilers ahead] the Cattons are not simply victims of Oliver. Oliver only managed to eat them up from inside because they live off eating other people up to. INCLUDING Felix. If Felix wasn't already owner of everything anyone could possibly want, he probably would be smarter and just as dangerous as Oliver, because he was a collector. He and his family collected poor people to entertain themselves. AND that's what Farleigh was for them, and that's why Farleigh could see right through Oliver and saw him as a thread. At the end of the day the Cattons WERE racist even with Farleigh there and WERE classist even welcoming Oliver. So, nobody's good in this movie. AND this is why I don't like the plot twist (which isn't that surprising after a while) at the end. By making Oliver a full on killer makes the cruelty of the Cattons don't seem so bad after all.
But I liked it bc as far as we know he wasn't a killer until he met Felix and his family. If he hadn't met Felix and then felt betrayed by him would he have ever killed anyone? Don't they say that there are plenty of psychopaths that don't kill people but sometimes there can be a trigger? It's thought provoking imo
It’s correct that the Cattons (Elspeth, James, Venetia, and Felix) are racists to Farleigh, Liam, and Joshua. They are classists to the poor including Pamela. We found other things the Cattons did. They gossip and lie all the time, but Oliver is more pathological. It can be worse. I believe that some incidents they talked about to Oliver is as misunderstanding as it could be. The “sucking off the teachers” incident wasn’t specifically and physically detailed at all, that’s what I found. What other fans or viewers found about them is pretty complicated but also impressively interesting. They’re on the right track. They can be criminals, which is why they never call the emergencies, rescuers, or the police. Felix and Venetia are already dangerous to the boys and flirtatious to the girls. They can be dangerous to each other and the incest was placed. Felix loved to eat the girls, Venetia ate the boys, Elspeth ate the beauty, and James ate the heartbreak. You said that the Cattons aren’t the victims but rather the suspects that collect the poor people and I do hear it. The poor people have the shiny things, the Cattons consumed those and they finally have the shiny things to be filthy rich. Venetia said that Oliver was a moth to fire who drawn the shiny things, even the Cattons are the shiny things themselves. One last shiny thing that was never taken away was Farleigh, his will of owning the place is gone but he still has faith in him to fight back, heal, think, thrive, redeem, and aware. If the Drayton House contains the demon cult, then the secret might be unlocked, knowing that the Cattons continue to collect the shiny things as a blood sacrifice for fun and splendor. On the other hand, Oliver brought more demonic activity to control the Drayton House if he got everything he needed and wanted. If nobody is good in this movie, it’ll be way too hopeless. There was one hope we can and always depend on, even it will be a simple change for the future to both fact and fiction, and that is Farleigh Start.
One more thing, Oliver wasn’t eating the rich. He killed the Cattons for human sacrifices, and then collected all the souls to him, therefore becoming them by owning a new love of one’s self.
Great video, guys! I went in blind and was completely fine watching the gratuitous scenes because I was too flabbergasted/intrigued to be grossed out. Ironically, Barry Keoghan said he had no problem being completely nude, and that getting the dance right was what made him nervous. 😂 I echo the recommendations for “Fellow Travelers”, “Promising Young Woman”, and “Red, White, and Royal Blue”.

at the LA premiere we received miniature bathtub cups with no idea behind the context and now it’s weirdly a prized memorabilia of mine (just needs felix’s bath water 😢)…. but loved both of your reactions and commentary to this i immediately subscribed and binged your videos :) excited for what’s next
What was the reaction like? I do understand people being a bit grossed out, and if I had gone in blind I might have been, but when I saw it in theaters I was expecting a lot worse, especially the bathtub scene Even with going in blind, anyone traumatized by this movie needs to watch more movies and I stand behind that lol
Man the LA premiere must have been a blast! I bet those bathtub cups look so cool haha, how did it all go? Thanks for the sub and checking out the videos mate, really means a lot!
What I love about this film is that in the beginning we focused on Michael (maths boy) and his erratic behavior, then the bright shiny object of Felix when he came into the picture and how completely out of touch and bizarre the rest of the family is... the idea that Oliver is the crazy one isn't even a thought. He's kind of positioned as the normal one... so much so that the first few hints we get otherwise don't always register. It's not until the bathtub scene where most people are like whoa wait a minute... maybe Oliver isn't who we thought.
@@SaidByTyyou must be a genius. Of course, that's the first real clue that we get. What I said was the movie is designed to misdirect us so that we gloss over moments like that until they hit us real hard with that bathtub scene. Some people aren't susceptible to it and still pick things up early - but a lot of people don't.
Yeah, this film was a wild ride for sure. If you’ve not seen, The Talented Mr. Ripley, I recommend it. It’s of a similar vein without the super intense scenes. It stars, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gweneth Paltrow and Cate Blanchett. Thanks for posting guys! ✌🏻👍🏻✌🏻
14:49 yup. Felix is a sweet guy…he’s also a terribly cocky douche who acts like he can get whatever he wants because between his looks and his money, he can in fact get whatever, and whomever, he wants. Such well fleshed out characters, honestly, they all feel like they have a real past. Well, the family at least 😂😂
Haha, i saw The Shining recently and it must have been sitting fresh in my head subconsciously 😅 felt like there were some subtle parallels between the two

Going into this movie completely blind I made the assumption of Oliver being a serial killer or going on a killing spree in the 2nd half of the movie before they made it to Saltburn. It was around the stone throwing scene. Although not entirely true, it was pretty close. Dude is a lunatic 😂
New to your channel and subbed immediately! I went in blind to this movie my first time and I was blown away! Barry Keoghan is going to be a superstar and he deserves it. It also delves into a part of history that hasn't really necessarily been talked about in the detail that the show goes into regarding the US political history and lgbtq history... Some people, bare minimum, have HEARD of the lavender scare but the show went into significant detail about EXACTLY what was going on during it. It certainly was a very educational, but fictional, story that was also quite steamy at times lol.
U are so funny!! first time i saw this channel and laughed at it. ps and at the end of the film, he does the dancing in the house reverse from the beginning, where Felix shows him and gets him through the house.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed! 😊 I never realised the ending of the film being a reverse from the beginning with the tour from Felix, well done on spotting that!
First time watching you guys 😂 been looking for saltburn reactions and you guys were amazing ❤you guys need to do more reactions immediately tv shows and movies !!!
Appreciate that mate, and thanks for the sub!! Haha, i'm the same. I'll be happily going about my day and then BAM the image of Oliver in the bath tub pops up in my head 😂😭
Mate i loved The Menu, that would have been a great movie to react to for the channel! I'm really enjoying this genre lately, trying to find more movies like this haha
i agree it's a very strange movie but i'm just mindblown that i didn't predict anything in this movie. idk if that makes me stupid or a shit movie watcher haha but there you go
Yours is the 4th Saltburn reaction video that I’ve watched. You guys are hilarious! Very weird movie, I felt so dirty after watching it, but I must admit that watching others squirm while experiencing the film is oddly entertaining. I’m only sorry that I missed it in the theater with a packed audience! Can you imagine the groans during those gross-out scenes?
They filmed the dancing ending scene 11 times in a row, this must be a lot of fun! This movie reminds me a little bit of Cruel Intentions from 1999. Greetings from Germany😘
My first years were spent being 'posh'; and from what I remember, this movie was spot on. Anywhats, love the banter between you guys and hope you guys keep posting. I just sub'd to your channel and I know it's dumb; but I'd really think people would love to hear your reactions on 'Interview With the Vampire' or the new take on 'Percy and the Olympians'. Either or, I'm still sub'd because your awesome.
46:13 Another interpretation of the gold wings is that he's Icarus, who died after falling from a great height (and connected to the myth of the minotaur). When you see the bird's eye of him lying dead, the statue's shadow is reaching out for him and there is a brief flash of sunlight off the wings, a "short lived glory". Flew too close to the sun!
Also fun fact there is an actual guy who designs mazes for videos games and movies such as Saltburn and the maze has two ways to get in one called the cheaters way idk what the other one is called
"And I will see you back at Oxford" I think sent a chill through Oliver and might have been a factor in his decision to kill. He didn't like the idea of the most popular guy on campus being against him for his remaining years and perhaps giving tacit permission to his friends to harass (rather than do it himself). On top of which it would have been a stab through the heart every time he saw this (very visible) person on campus since I do think in his own twisted serial killer way, he was in love.
@@JackDanReactimagine Barry's mental reaction upon first script reading... and that was only the first of the 3 freakazoid scenes. Dancing naked isnt freaky in the least.. we've all done it - just not in a mega mansion :P
59:05 for scenes like the nude dance and grave, they actually had a minimal crew present so the actor would be less self conscious and sometimes an "intimacy coordinator" involved even tho it isn't a scene between two people.
Farleigh and Duncan were my favourite characters when I watched Saltburn. Duncan cause he was creepy and that was enough for me 😂 and Farleigh cause he saw right through Oliver and I saw right through him too 👍
As I watched the trailer a couple months before the movie was released, I kinda saw right through Oliver in my head because he looked menacing. As you know I thought it’s gonna be a horror movie but unfortunately it isn’t, sometimes. Yes, we finally had seen right through him and nobody had seen it coming from him. I was afraid that the diversity is gonna fall pretty short, but miraculously my favorite character Farleigh made it! 🙏🏾
you guys are great! I can't wait for you guys to post more reactions (: You guys should react to The Children (2008) directed by Tom Shankland, it's a movie that stuck with me since I first saw it as a kid for whatever reason hahaha
I don’t know people don’t think of Jaws when we see Oliver under the water with a bloody mouth and that music playing. First thing that came to my mind. He’s the shark at this point if you didn’t know it. The predator.
That's really cool that you're asking about a patreon! We've only been doing this for a couple of months, maybe it feels a little premature to start one now? Either way, super encouraging that you're even asking about one! That's definitely something we'd like to work to for sure 😊

Jack you should watch "prisoners" by daniel villanueve! Its pretty good honestly, same with "everything everywhere all at once". Btw, ur interpretation of that vampire scene is terrific and spot on, I though of nothing about it but it all makes sense now! Keep going man, u r hilarious and very perceptive. 205th sub!
What did y’all watch this on? I watched it on prime video and noticed some scenes in yours were left out of mine and I’d love to watch the full movie in all its glory lol. Great video!
@@JackDanReact As I understand it, nudity/ sex is more likely to get censored in US and violence more likely in Europe, maybe it was something like that.
Did anyone else assume that Felix wasn't just some random victim....He was obsessed with the lifestyle "Saltburn" so it makes you wonder if he already studied this family history and placed himself in the same university and had been planning this long before we picked up on the story. .
dont be a jackass.. One does not "place" oneself in Oxford, considering the background he came from. It was clearly stated he was there on a scholarship.. One does NOT manipulate those without major power/influence, which his family didnt have. He could easily have met some other magnetic personality and gone down a path with them. The big issue is how easily the Cattons made it to violently hate them.. I mean Felix was the only one that he apparently had any feelings for.. the other 3 were all clearly objectionable and irredeemable, and therefore to be eliminated.
@ZakhadWOW do we even know he was on a scholarship? Remember the scene in the pub where he had money in his wallet and played poor? I think he went to Oxford with every intention of doing better, raising himself above his middle-class parents. I don't think he went with just Felix in mind but was planning on climbing high through connections one way or another. That, he had looked at tabloids and such (SInce this is pre social media) as to how the other half lived and envied it. Began to covet the lifestyle as well as the specificity of Felix. When I went to college in the 80s, I had people who approached me saying they knew of me or my family because of bits in the news (we are not like Felix's family). I saw it happen with classmates as well. I went up to people and did the whole - here's the way we have a tangential connection ( our parents knew each other, I was in the same division sports but a few years behind, had been to their house, restaurant, gallery etc, saw their show or speech or whatever) the professor event brings up his tangential relationship to the famy when he first meets the cousin. I think Oliver made himself into an interesting modern Dickensian character instead of a middle class social climber to have a better story, whether Felix fell for it or some other way to rise up to where he wanted to be. Anywhere but becoming his suburban dad. The story of the guy who fooled Oprah with his book about his depraved drug addiction comes to mind. He fooled her and the publishers and everyone into having this wonderful story they could all dine on and treat like a pet. To feel better about rescuing. Only to be a medium talented writer from a solid middle-class home who had never been homeless or been in rehab. Oprah had her whole book club support him. He got book deals, movie deals (that fell through), and became a best-selling author. People reinvent themselves as long cons all the time. Even if the target is not specific. I think Oliver Quick ( very Dickens/Robert Louis Stevenson name) fell in love with the Cattons' life first and Felix second. I think he'd gone to museums and such growing up and longed for a life that he read about.
Saltburn is my new fave! Love the edginess, and somewhat shocking scenes. It is so beautifully filmed though even at its worst, it’s FANTASTIC! The characters are so rich and the dialogue is clever. This isn’t a movie for the entire family, so put the kiddies to bed and enjoy! Kept me entertained from start to finish without missing a beat!!
I just checked it out on IMDB, this movie looks like a great one, awesome suggestion! Will definitely catch it when it comes out on whichever streaming platform!
Old John Waters (Polyester, definitely Desperate Living and Female Trouble) = weirder than this movie but those were low budget, not hoping for Oscars or aimed at an art house audience. I saw one reviewer even compare the kink scenes in Saltburn to Waters.
This movie did SUCH a good job putting us in the mind of Ollie. I just loved it so much, just a good physiological 'eat the rich' movie that is so perfectly timed 🎉
Actually, it isn’t an eat the rich movie. Because Oliver is a rich man all along. He killed the reach but he did eat the fluids. Try not to be confused.
Oliver is a sociopath. Sociopaths don't have the same emotions as "normal" folks. Slurping the bath water was a form of reverence. Same as the episode at the grave site. While these scenes make "healthy" people gag, a man like Oliver was at the alter of a god (Felix.) It was pure worship. Worship is never healthy. I loved this movie.
Which is why it made sense that a hymn plays during the funeral but continues during his time alone at the grave. It's a traditional folk melody but used for religious purposes as well
Maybe it's just me but I don't think the scenes in Saltburn are that extreme. It's fun watching people react to it though and this was probably one of my favourite reactions to the film. Y'all are endearing as reactors, and I'm definitely subscribing to see future reactions 🙂

First time watching you guys 😂 been looking for saltburn reactions and you guys were amazing ❤you guys need to do more reactions immediately tv shows and movies !!!
loved you reaction as well, you two are a funny duo! i still think about this movie every day. just insane. definitely subbed. 😂
Appreciate that mate, and thanks for the sub!! Haha, i'm the same. I'll be happily going about my day and then BAM the image of Oliver in the bath tub pops up in my head 😂😭
Saltburn is a cinematic masterpiece dark, mesmerising and superbly acted.
Best film of the year! Loved you guys reaction. Lots of fun. Always get lots of joy watching people squirm about in uncomfortable films. Wonderful.
we’re going in stevie wonder style 😂😂😂😂
Idk how you guys Dont have more subscribers 😭✨
I was trying to explain to my brother, 65, why watching reactors can be really hilarious but he refuses, his loss. I love the grave banter.
for me it's a virtual tie between Saltburn and The Menu for the craziest shit I can ever remember seeing in a movie.
Mate i loved The Menu, that would have been a great movie to react to for the channel! I'm really enjoying this genre lately, trying to find more movies like this haha
i agree it's a very strange movie but i'm just mindblown that i didn't predict anything in this movie. idk if that makes me stupid or a shit movie watcher haha but there you go
Great reaction guys!!! U both were FUN to watch 😂
Jack and Dan! I enjoyed watching you both react to Saltburn... :)
Thanks so much! Glad to have you here! 😊
Loved your reaction! You gained a new follower from across the pond :)
Ahh that's awesome!! Welcome in from across the pond! 😊
Thoroughly enjoyed his reaction; you should definitely check out Emerald Fennel's first film Promising Young Woman, too!
Fun reaction. I liked seeing you both process what was going on. Duncan great name choice especially for a 👧
Always trust a Duncan & Farleigh ❤️
Yours is the 4th Saltburn reaction video that I’ve watched. You guys are hilarious! Very weird movie, I felt so dirty after watching it, but I must admit that watching others squirm while experiencing the film is oddly entertaining. I’m only sorry that I missed it in the theater with a packed audience! Can you imagine the groans during those gross-out scenes?
i’m new to this channel and this is by far my best saltburn commentary video i’ve seen so far.
They filmed the dancing ending scene 11 times in a row, this must be a lot of fun! This movie reminds me a little bit of Cruel Intentions from 1999. Greetings from Germany😘
11 times! Man, that's dedication from Barry there. He absolutely smashed it in this role i think. Sending a willkommen to Germany! 😊
I find it funny how many people going into this thinks it’s a romance film lol.
The final sequence shot of this movie is hudge. Thanks for this reaction !
The world is symbolic, and symbolism my loves.
Now watch everything everywhere all at once please and thank you
Slurp slurp! :) That was fun seeing y'alls reaction to it.
Why'd he have to slurp though!! 😭😫
@@JackDanReactthe girls that get it get it
@@JackDanReactimagine Barry's mental reaction upon first script reading... and that was only the first of the 3 freakazoid scenes.
"what on earth is happening dan i dont know where to look dan"
New subscriber here. Love you guys ❤
This moving isn't for everyone but man, this came outta left field. Incredible movie
Your reaction clip is the BEST on UA-cam.
I don’t know people don’t think of Jaws when we see Oliver under the water with a bloody mouth and that music playing. First thing that came to my mind. He’s the shark at this point if you didn’t know it. The predator.
Seems like the realest reaction i have seen on this movie, great job guys. just subscribed
That's awesome mate, thanks so much for the sub! Glad to have you here!!
Absolutely love your reaction and your attention to detail!
Thanks so much, really glad to hear you enjoyed it! 😊
Infiltrating. Adapting. Evolving. Did you two ever see the _Doctor Who_ episode, _Midnight?_
hi! do you guys have a patreon where you post full reactions ? if not, it would be cool to be able to watch full movie reactions from you
That's really cool that you're asking about a patreon! We've only been doing this for a couple of months, maybe it feels a little premature to start one now? Either way, super encouraging that you're even asking about one! That's definitely something we'd like to work to for sure 😊
@@JackDanReact oh wow i just noticed your channel is pretty new! i asked because i love rewatching my favorite movies, so if theres the option i always prefer full reactions. Good luck for your channel!
only a minute in but you both seem fun! gained a sub, can't wait to see more.
is Danger Blood going to be the name of your group?
Watch something by Jordan Peele! Get Out, Nope or Us, loving the reactions fellas. ❤
Or The Menu 😐
You two should watch no hard feelings
51:08 LMFAO
Jack you should watch "prisoners" by daniel villanueve! Its pretty good honestly, same with "everything everywhere all at once". Btw, ur interpretation of that vampire scene is terrific and spot on, I though of nothing about it but it all makes sense now! Keep going man, u r hilarious and very perceptive. 205th sub!
What did y’all watch this on? I watched it on prime video and noticed some scenes in yours were left out of mine and I’d love to watch the full movie in all its glory lol. Great video!
We watched this on prime as well! I wonder if it's a region thing then? What scenes were missing from yours?
@@JackDanReact As I understand it, nudity/ sex is more likely to get censored in US and violence more likely in Europe, maybe it was something like that.
😊✌
4:50 is funny because the bible actually have dragons and other monsters. But is true, it needs more.
Absolutely perfect
Did anyone else assume that Felix wasn't just some random victim....He was obsessed with the lifestyle "Saltburn" so it makes you wonder if he already studied this family history and placed himself in the same university and had been planning this long before we picked up on the story.
.
That's what I assumed
dont be a jackass..
Guysss when Pior things comes out on streaming please react to it!!!! It's weird in the saltburn kinda way. Loved the reaction btw.
I just checked it out on IMDB, this movie looks like a great one, awesome suggestion! Will definitely catch it when it comes out on whichever streaming platform!
@@JackDanReact hope you looked up *Poor things! I just noticed my typo 🙃
@@michaelallensantos I knew exactly what you meant mate 😊Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo!
i really like your reaction videos!! new subscriber here
DANGER BLOODDDDD
Good reaction. Very funny.
You guys should react to gone girl (2014)
Old John Waters (Polyester, definitely Desperate Living and Female Trouble) = weirder than this movie but those were low budget, not hoping for Oscars or aimed at an art house audience. I saw one reviewer even compare the kink scenes in Saltburn to Waters.
I didn't know Daniel Radcliffe and Hugh Grant had a reaction channel??
Ok..Hugh Grant's son lol
Haha if this is our USP then i'll take it! 😅 but the question, who's who?
@@JackDanReact Is that a serious question..? Dan is Hugh. Lol.
Daniel Radcliffe has a beard lately!
This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen
This movie did SUCH a good job putting us in the mind of Ollie. I just loved it so much, just a good physiological 'eat the rich' movie that is so perfectly timed 🎉
Actually, it isn’t an eat the rich movie. Because Oliver is a rich man all along. He killed the reach but he did eat the fluids.
Try not to be confused.
I was reading the Bible…needs more dragons 😂😂😂😂
I got a weirder film for you, watch Possession 1981 with Sam Neil, its wild.
Next BLACK SWAN MOVIE
I loved it and I’m obsessed with Oliver ❤
It's my first time watching you guys, and I can't stop laughing with your nonstop made up lines and banters 😂
Thanks mate! Glad to have you here, a few friends have described our jokes as "insufferable" so i'm glad to hear that you like them! 😂
On the name Duncan: You have obviously not watched _Monarch of the Glen._ (Way before your time.)
Down Horrendous, the movie
symbolic
Oliver is a sociopath. Sociopaths don't have the same emotions as "normal" folks. Slurping the bath water was a form of reverence. Same as the episode at the grave site. While these scenes make "healthy" people gag, a man like Oliver was at the alter of a god (Felix.) It was pure worship. Worship is never healthy. I loved this movie.
Which is why it made sense that a hymn plays during the funeral but continues during his time alone at the grave. It's a traditional folk melody but used for religious purposes as well
I would drink Jack’s bath water. 😌
Did Oliver kill cousin Pamela?
Perhaps? 🤔😳
hi guys, if u don't mind please react red white and royal blue
Want another weird movie? Watch 'A Clockwork Orange ' 🤯
I just checked it out on IMDB and it looks great, 100% going on the list!
I loved this film
Cognitive Function was a huge delay 😂
I also don't see what people like about this shitshow of a movie.... It's just trying to be interresting by being disturbing...
