a roguelike and whatever genre DRG is are too diffirent to say that everyone will abandon DRG for RC. They provide diffirent experiences and that is enough to like both
DRG is in such a good spot and has such a good reputation that I don’t blame Ghost Ship if part of their motivation to move on is to leave it on a high note and not risk ruining it (different genre but TF2 comes to mind).
Amen to that. I like Roguelikes, but I also like having my favorite weapons and loadouts. Playing both DRG and DRG RC is like playing both Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons, or both Mario Party and Mario + Rabbids
If the player base actually does get split and it becomes materially more difficult to complete assignments, then I would really like to see GSG implement some kind of system that makes missions overlap across different assignments. The game is fun solo, but it's truly special dropping in with some randoms and smashing some bugs
I think it should be a game mode. Lets just hope this new title is different enough for me to justify spending $20+ on something that may or may not be the same game.
Everyone I know that plays deep rock is still going to be playing both games. All they've done is create a new way for me to give them money. Which they needed to do cause I bought all the DLCs already and they deserve more of it.
Imo people shouldn't see Rouge Core in an Overwatch 2 lens, it's not meant to replace the original, especially with the different rouge-like playstyle that ReapeeRon mentioned. Same case with Deadlock where people find it as a TF2 replacement for some reason.
when deeprock is in a slow time i can only find one or two servers, i would suck for people that like to join random games if everyone moves over to rogue core and it kills the server list.
I'm just not a fan that RC is eating up into DRGs content cycle. Personally, I'm not interested in a rogue like. I just want more DRG (base game). So much they can do with the game, and it's a shame we wont be seeing Season 6 until end of 2025 at the earliest
I know that I will be switching over to RC just because I love the genre more than DRG’s and even Survivor’s. I do hope that some of the items and gear from the side games come into the main game to add more variety of build expression which is what i initially loved about DRG. Very happy to see more of the DRG universe and excited for the future!
People dont get it. I just want to know if DRG and RC has the same progression systems. Drg is a teamwork oriented shooter with rng weapon progression with OCs. If RC still has classes with OCs you can bring in the roguelite sessions then what makes it different!? RC should be vastly different in order to be free from DRG. Why play RC if its just DRG 1.5???
My problem isn’t the potential for splitting the player base but the definite in splitting the company. They stated they delayed season 5 and are halting season 6 because of their new games (5 new games under Ghost Ship). So for me its not that the player base may split, but that DRG is lagging in updates so other games can be made. I don’t even think they want this nor is it their intent but it’s necessary when expanding their company to this degree this quick. It feels (though again not their intent) sad that the game that made them all their success is now getting “pushed aside” or “left behind” so other games can be made. Anyway…Rock and Stone brothers!
I do not see how it would split the playerbase, in any way more than Helldivers, darktide or any of the others 4 co-op player games. Me, I will probably play the season material in one game, and then the other. And then jump between them, when I am waiting for next season. Same way I jump between classes to not become bored.
Truth be told I'm cautiously optimistic about RC. I think I'll like the game but irdk how the community may react. I feel like GSG caught lightning in a bottle with DRG and them trying to do it again, with a different formula and attempting to capture the same friendly community that DRG is known for, would be really hard. I trust GSG and their design process more than I trust the premise of the game given the (limited) pool of knowledge fans can draw from
@@coldtimber4972 well, the game is encouraging friendliness by design in many places, it's not that there is a specific magical set of ppl that are more pleasant
@@ludonardis In DRG, yes, you're right. Different mechanics *do* encourage friendliness and cooperation. Yet, when it comes to Rogue Core there are a few issues I know of that could cause potential strife. For instance, when on the build screen only one player can choose an upgrade; well, what happens if two players want the same thing? That could cause problems.
@@coldtimber4972 I wonder the same thing, but I trust the GSG designers to handle that. DRG is really beautifully designed game, and I expect a team that created DRG to solve that issue possibly well. In the end we have to wait and see ofc.
@@ludonardis I feel the same. I trust GSG but I also recognize that there have been games in the past that tried something similar to them, and failed. Ghost ship just needs to be VERY careful, imo.
What are you talking about? People being sceptical is not getting out of hand in any shape or form. There is no hate from what I've read so far, only mixed opinions on RC. And that is a good thing, because GSG knows what to avoid building this game. We don't need another DRG mining lite but it's a rougelike thos time. It just looks to similar to the base game and people are rightly confused about that. GSG needs to convince people that this is indeed a different game. So far it don't do that. Rougelike doesn't make it an entirely different experience. It is a mode imo
I don't think Rogue Core will separate the playerbase at all- people in the comments are saying that they'd love to play both, and i can say that im in the same boat. sure, it means less time will be committed to drg and the chapter assignments, but gsg will make a way for things to work; they always have.
A rogue like will be fun for those who like to challenge themselves all the time whereas DRG will be the consistent game that most fans will still play IMO
I think it'll work out great. I think they both look fun. It's no different from regular Halo to Halo wars. You go from a first person shooter to a strategy game. Both are good and all for different gameplay loops
while a large part of me is disappointed that rogue core isn't going to be part of deep rock, if this is gonna let the devs experiment with they're creativity having these be different games, I'm okay with that. I look forward to seeing what ghost ship does with it over time.
Feel like it might split the community for a bit, most people are likely gonna end up wanting to, at least try rogue core, it'll take a bit before people settle in on one or the other. And If you ever grow tired of one you can just go back to the other.
More fast paced Drg or slower OG stuff. Thats what its going to boil down to. Very much a Vermitide 2 or Darktide debate. I bet they have some QoL updates one wished the other has at somepoint.
I think DRG has run its course getting just annual patches/content updates and GSG is hoping everyone will migrate to Rogue Core so they can focus on their new baby.
@@Theleprechaun317 I guess we will see when Rogue Core gets further into development. DRG updates will just get less and less frequent. Although current updates are nowhere near frequent and DRG wasn't even on the 2025 roadmap. XD

I really think they should have found a way to make this work IN DRG as if it was a deep dive. I’ll be trying this, of course.
Like Chaos Wastes in Vermintide 2
Me and my 2 brothers just got into DRG been loving Driller so far. Hope they keep support for DRG.

I don’t really think the game needs it tbh . The weapons are already extremely well balanced, and adding a fourth one could mess up that balance
