Hey Ron great first look brother can't wait !!! DRG got me back into gaming when it first came out and been looking forward to rouge core on my new gaming cpu rig thanx for the info 😊
It could be really good, but there is a chance it will just be a slightly different version of DRG. Certainly the progression will be different, but we also need to see big differences in how combat and moment to moment gameplay works. Those differences seems likely, but we'll have to see a lot more to be sure.
Will be playing this day one. Hope it is as addicting as the first, however, the elements are that of DRG: Survivor and I wasn't all that thrilled after 20 hours. I am hoping they also make some kind of classic mode or some mechanic where I can work towards a permanent build and/or overclocks. Either way, this company is getting my money. 2400 hours of DRG and counting
Very nice! I'm a little bummed that we're a year out, now that I've seen this stuff I want this game to come out yesterday 😄 Thanks for your insight and impressions! Super excited for this game.
People need to go outside. Everyone finds something to complain about. Just let it happen lol. None of you make video games but love to voice your opinions 24/7
This... looks a lot less different to regular DRG than I was expecting. With how long they basically postponed development to work on it, why not have just made it an actual DLC instead?
The player count for OG DRG was at its highest before the devs shut down updates/new content and went all in on Rouge Core. I think it was a huge mistake/gamble to starve the game, that's paying all your bills/employees, for 2 (give or take) years. Hopefully it works out. DRG is starving for content (new biome, new mission), perk system rework etc... My theory is take care of what is paying your bills/salaries!
ngl ,bit salty that this isn't a dlc ,this couldve been a new mode , not very interested in investing in this new game when it is SO close to the original DRG but i can't carry my cosmetics.
I mean originally rogue core was season 5, but because it got so unique they wanted to make it its own thing which i like honestly, it means that it can reinvent a lot of code from drg and add way more new mechanics. It would be cool to have it in drg but i think i prefer it as its own honestly
I'm willing to bet a lot of the cosmetics from DRG will either be transferred over somehow with some kind of account set up if you previously played DRG, or that alot of the cosmetics from DRG will be in the base game unlockable through progression, which y'know gives you a reason to even keep playing the game. Rouge likes can get stale pretty quickly if you're looking for a game that gives you a sense of progression or accomplishment, because it's designed to be different every time and none of your progression in one game carries over to the next, it basically resets you back to square one. I think having cosmetics all those cosmetics you had in the first game be something you could earn in the new game would be a good thing, with new cosmetics too. DRG has always been pretty fair about avoiding fomo and exclusivity with the season content by allowing you to still get the cosmetics from previous seasons, so I'm sure they'll handle this in a way that is to our benefit. And I am fine with this being a total new game personally because it is a new source of revenue for them, I always enjoy supporting indie games that treat their fanbase right and DRGs fanbase is one of the most wholesome and well treated in the gaming industry, which is a rarity these days.
That'd be essentially the same thing, no? Only difference is it would have to be fully compatible with DRG, which would make it harder to develop, and you would be required to have DRG to play it. Idk, yeah, i like, but i would prefer to be an alternate mode for the same game I don’t want to grind again for cosmetics 😭 At least I hope that it will link to your account and you have will the same cosmetics or something similar, and this game will have its own cosmetics that you can use in the other drg once you get them

It would have very different progression and objectives for the player. The new enemies might be very different from Glyphids, though we will need to see more gameplay footage to know how different it is.
The Devs been working and updating drg for 6 years basically for free. They have every right to develope a different game if they feel excited about it, they don't owe anyone anything. And in the end people will speak with their pockets..
And it's kind of contradictory that you say the venn diagram between the people who would play this and the people who play drg are non existant and but "you don't understand why is this a separate game".
It was originally going to be an update/expansion for DRG, but that proved to be too restrictive, and they decided it would be a better experience if it was a separate game instead. The more content a game has, the harder it is to add more content, and building essentially an entirely new game insane an existing game that's seen 6 years of updates would be a Herculean task. Let the game developers do the game developing.
I think they should have not done this. This could have been a massive update for DRG and not a standalone game. Drg is literally dying right now. And when RC comes they have 3 games to update and that means slower and less content for drg. RIP
Hopefully the game is sucessful. I am personally not a trend chaser and I have no interest in rogue-likes so this game is automatically a pass for me. I would've wished they would have focused on DRG and simply sell dlc or cosmetics to monetize and justify the development of that game but I get the company wanted to go to another direction and chase trends. From what I've seen, they have produced quite high-quality and successful trend-chasers, even if I have no interest of ever even trying them.
It has entirely new classes, enemies, progression, atmosphere, genre...If they added it to regular DRG it would feel like an entire game inside of a different game, on top of being much more difficult to develop from GSG's end.
@KingNedya Then if it wants to be a standalone edition it shouldn't be an asset copy paste. The new classes are built on the base we already have in DRG. The dwarf will be customisable in the exact same way. It's evident in development and what they have said that it was gonna be an update to DRG itself. @KingNedya Nothing wrong with the base features of DRG. However the new game is supposed to be this dark, horror rogue like yet there are no changes to the art style to reflect this aside from dimming the lights. The content drops for deep rock galactic recently have been very dry with just a few overlooks and a couple enemies that don't change the gameplay. The end game of DRG is just to collect all the overclocks which you will probably only be using 1-2 per weapon or to progress the slow battle passes for some cosmetics. I cannot enjoy playing the same few missions over and over again even if it's to challenge myself on the highest difficulty or by speed running.
