As satisfying as great automated factories and tamed geysers are, a good kitchen and living area is what really makes it feel like a base and gives it a personal connection.
That 5 tiled kitchen room has opened so many possibilities for me. Never thought of that before. I do have a multi-leveled kitchen in my base. The storage unit and grill is in the lower level while oven and press are in the upper level. One autosweeper supplies material to all while one autosweeper each level cleans the place of the cooked food.
What are your thoughts on having crab janitorial crew? In my maintenence rooms I have 1 wild pokeshell. They eat the polluted dirt and excrete sand. All you have to do is top off a bin of sand periodically, and the crab/autosweeper handles the rest. The crab will lay at least one egg in its life so it's perpetual janitorial services with the addtion of supplying a tiny bit of lime (egg shells/molts). Pretty ultimate if you ask me lol
Ohhh so Nathan i found a solution to the heat problem i was having, there are currently some working mods that allow radiating heat to space. Imo helping make the game a bit more realistic, no heat source no atmosphere, molecules move slower and slower till they freeze over or become supercooled liquids. Was honestly a bit of a pet peeve of mine lol that it wasnt already included in this game to allow radiating heat to space 🤣🤷
You're right I didn't really explain it, but there is not automation, it is automated because one sweeper can reach the storage but not the conveyor loader and one can reach the loader but not the storage. If you pause after the stuff is built you should know what to do. Sorry I didn't get into more detail there.
I finally bought this game the other day after years of not buying it. Already clocked 80 hours on this cuz it's just a frustrating masterpiece. And then I stumbled across an old reddit thread when they added a second difficulty. I only play Survival and apparently that was standard settings back then and that was the consensus of the thread thats how normal people play. It makes me wonder if No Sweat is the default UA-camr mode. I can't imagine clocking 1200+ cycles when dupes have no sickness or food demands
The ladder trick was tied to the same thing involving pulling out food through the same spot. This was fixed during Spaced Out Early-Access as it was considered a cheat-mechanic by Klei due to the new food-mechanics, atleast for players of the dlc, haven't played ONI without it, so not sure about the base game. And, the fix was only towards mechanics involving food, including mechatronics. Building doors and tiles this way is still (obviously) possible.
Nice job with the kitchen. Not quite what I was thinking, but it looks sweet. That said . . . You could have lowered the sweeper over the grill by one tile and placed the other above it and one tile to the left and it would have worked without making the room five high. You would have had to fiddle around with the motion sensors, but it would have worked.
what kind of Great Hall is this when there's no salt! D: the Rock Crusher will make Table Salt if you put some Salt from the Desalinator in there. they'll store up to 5g of Table Salt per table and use it automatically adds +1 Morale to whatever they're eating Mess Tables inside of a rocket have to not be restricted for them to put salt in them
I wouldnt use carpet in great hall. Carpet makes people walk very slow, and if you make extended part like that, they will take long time before they can reach their food, and then bathroom & bed.
Question: How are you planing to get the food to the dupes? Far as I know they can't pick up stuff diagonally anymore. I would advise you to build another deep freezer in the mess hall but I don't think you can since you would have to build it at a wall. If you want that you might have to switch your kitchen and mess hall around
I just realised something. You CO2 will have a hard time getting out of your floors. You should address that I think. Otherwise good job. I'm really enjoying this serie

About that diagonal building and grabbing the food out of the deep cooler it indeed does not work any more they patch that out. Only posible to whit a auto sweeper. But yep not anumore enable.
This is a super late comment, but. Did u know that putting food on a tile of uranium also kills germs? though I cant remember how well it conducts heat (or, in this case, chill). Cool thing is, the radiation is weak enough that dupes don’t get sick, but juuust enough to be effective :}

So for people who actually watched it on release, that goal was set way back in the past. I asked them and it was fine... Now let's talk about Switzerland and me being lazy for a bit. After watching this series, do you really think I'm too lazy to put in the effort? Now Switzerland was neutral in WW2? We had trade deals with Germany that were beneficial to their war efforts (let's call that the first exception you mentioned with the printing pod) and our neutral banks were also useful to them. In fear of angering Germany, Switzerland also tightened border policies which made it harder for Jew refugees to flee here. Later there were plans to adopt the "j stamp", marking Jews in their passports. (Let's call that the moment I decided it's ok to use the pod items) Now, this comment is all in good fun;) (except for the lazy part, I took that personally😉)

Magma is the best imo but it is limited until you have none anymore. Hydrogen also doesn't come with a drawback and can be unlimited if you have enough disposable water. All other options are viable if you can deal with the waste resources.
Pointing out again that your bedrooms are too close to your rocket platforms, within 9 tiles, that means your bedrooms are going to be hit by the rocket exhaust and eventually melt.

I don't even build a container. The symbiotic relationship goes on indefinitely. Water sieve, autosweeper, pokeshell. Anytime I build a sieve :)

I don't know any UA-camrs that Let's Play a No Sweat World. Maybe for their testing, but most would make a creative world for this.

They can take the food from the fridge on the storage.

I'd only put in the food that they are allowed to eat. If you have enough Dupes ready to do chores, then it's ok to put it on manually.

Actually, metal tiles are made of refined material, yes? In this case, u could use a small amount of uranium instead!

Solar and magma power mostly with a bit of natural gas sprinkled in.

We discussed that it's ok once I aquired the materials myself. E.g. I went through a lot of off camera work to get a pip over here.
