A 6 bolt DSM engine from a 1990 Eclipse GSX popped up at my local salvage yard, and I rushed out to get it, even in the cold and snow.
Stuff I need for production! a.co/iM4PGFF

Hey Erik, I just gotta take my time to say thank you for the content, I was referencing your video for the dash removal. Finally found a junkyard that had one, was able to get it out, seats and steering wheel were out already and it made it a breeze with your walkthrough, it was a 92 eclipse N/A with an Eprommed ECU still in it. Now to put it in the talon!

I would have still taken the motor and trans if they'd give a serious discount on it, say $100-150 for all. I'm sure the gear clusters are still good, that would be a 90 gearset, the strongest aside from Evo 3. Block and crank should still be good as well.

I know this pain all too well. I spent like 2 hours helping a random dude from craigslist that lived 200 miles away pull a VR6 engine from a 2001 VW GTI, only for him to drop it from the engine hoist while loading it onto my trailer. it completely destroyed the oil pan. But he gave it to me for half the original price and it ended up running fine.

Ahaa I did exactly the same thing but with an genuine EJ22T. I had to do it in two sessions because it was snowing so hard that I could not see the bolts to take off anymore. So I pulled the intake manifold and got back home. I was crossing my fingers that no one would go and pull the engine during the week as they are pretty sought after I think. I got back to the junk yard the next week end and I was lucky enough to score the rest of the motor and it was a nice warm day! I was relieved because it was a 2H + drive from my home. Now I just have to find me a nice Beetle, an adapter plate and a Microsquirt!

You know, this guy is teaching me that I am a really big wuss. I just scored a $1200 92 tsi awd. Running and driving with even a few mods. I go out and see it’s leaking coolant from the radiator and I wanted to give up on the car already. The guy even offered to give me a new radiator lol. How do you have so much patience for these cars? I think I’ve just done this so many times that I’m worn out on building yet another one from scratch.

Every time an eclipse/talon is at a pick n pull near me, they're always sent to salvage within days, all I need is a 1g dashboard man. Seeing that one in perfect condition made me tear up. Nice job for not losing your shit when it dropped, I would've, especially laying in the snow for 4+ hours. I'd give you my motor if I didn't need it, it's a stock 4g63 in a talon TSi with only 150k on it.

Evol_AF that's what I'm saying, like I paid for it you just dropped MY motor and trans you aren't giving me $416 back for it. That's what it was worth to you, not what it was worth to me. Price changes the second ownership changes. Happens every where else, buy a new car and ask for your money back 3 seconds later. They will knock $3000 off for depreciation and then hand you a check.

That is why I always do important stuff myself. That forklift driver isn't out any money for dropping YOUR property. At that point you owed that motor and trans and I would of billed them for all the repairs or cost to replace it right then. Company's have insurance for stuff like that. Either that or they shouldn't of been loading it if they don't. Had a rental tool place drop something in the bed of my truck right where the tail gate folded and snapped both leaf Springs and the tail gate off my truck and they paid every bit of the cost to repair my truck including paying me $20 hr (my standard wage at work at the time it happened) to pull the Springs and tail gate from a self pull and pay and to put all the parts on my truck. I mean everything down to the wire got my mig welder that I used to weld the torn metal on the bed where the tail gate attached and pivoted. Came out $800 ish cheaper then the estimate at the local garage first said that the tool rental had me take it to. They would for sure be at least paying me for the 4 hrs I spent pulling the motor and trans out. You were way too nice in that situation and I understand accidents happen and can over look stuff really easily but that's not just a refund me the money and oh well my loss situation. What if he would of damaged your car by not being careful with the forklift, you would say well that is my property so you need to pay for it right? Well that motor and trans was yours too. Sorry for your loss bud that was a great score almost.

Was gonna you ballz to pull it during snow but having long hair does indeed keep you warm.
I now what you mean about 4g63's are hard to find the 420a is same. I've found a cool score once complete set of gst five star wheels. It was pretty funny as was walking out with about 10 people were pissed that snagged them plus free clear corners, also found mud flaps.
I laughed like dr evil while loading them up.
Pro, tip for anyone pulling engines.
You should always turn the engine over by hand at the crank before pulling it. This will let know if the engine is locked up.
If that U-Pull yard doesn't call you try Miller Imports, Steve might work with you on shipping costs maybe. I don't but I have scored a 2g door from him do the size & weight shipping wasn't bad. Just food for thought As alternatived but is best to get one locally & in person.
