- The DSM Shootout was definitely WAY different than most of the vents we go to when it comes to the types of vehicles that attended! Since there were so many vehicles with crazy swaps, we decided to dedicate an entire video to those cars! In this video you’ll see a 3000GT VR4 with a turbo 5.3 LS motor, a record breaking 4G63 powered 3000GT VR4, an Isuzu pickup with a 4G63 in it consistently running 8’s, and MORE! We hope you enjoy all these weird builds as much as we do!

Yes! Finally 3000GTs are starting to get more love they deserve!
Mario Alvarez still remember at 13 years old seeing a brand new Mitsubishi 3000GT-VR4 TT-AWD, AWS (ALL WHEEL DRIVE TWIN TURBO WITH ALL WHEEL STEERING) on the showroom floor of a local Mitsubishi dealer and thinking holy hell this car is insane!!!! Then My "coolest" older sister at 18 bought a laser red 1997 Eclipse GS-X off the show room floor and it was the most gorgeous and cool car I'd ever drove along with a GS-T I test drove at 16,,..took her GS-X to Prom and felt so cool! They were the next generation of performance cars! And now in my 40's seeing them hit the track with rediculous time slips and #'s I love it! I drooled over these as a kid and now seeing them pound the track is so cool! With you I'm loving that a once revolutionary car that didn't get enough attention , is now getting what it deserves! 👍
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six Oh man! I wish I could of seen Eclipse gst/gsx and 3000GTs brand new on the showroom floor! All the ones around me are modded to hell. It’s so unfortunate that Mitsubishi has fell off so hard from what they used to be. :(

Not that the car is underrated the car just isn't your biggest pick in the drag community harder to mame power in those than almost any other car
@@jaylestingi Theres a bigger aftermarket scene for the 4g63 and that dude who said there is more potential in 4g63 is wrong the 6g hasn't eve barely been touched apon in the modding community.
They get 4g swapped because you will drop a shit load of weight, and you can make power for way cheaper. Whoever said it's hard to make power on a stock 6g has an issue lol. I believe the 6g power record was 13xxhp
1000+ lbs weight reduction on the 3000gt that's insane!
Dragon ball Fanboy both larry and Garrett put in a ton of work to get them down to 2500 and 2600lb race weight.
@Nick Kavounis because too much stupid electronics like Electronically Controlled Suspension, Electrically Controlled Exhaust , Active Aero, all wheel steering... Road tests at the time showed the euro spec second generation 3000GT VR-4 to be capable of 0-60 mph in 4.4-4.8s.
@@esasaarinen2423Wouldn't say pointless stuff. The 3000GT was never intended to be a sports car. It's a luxury sports car designed to drive in a snow storm going up a mountain. To do so, you need weight. Stock the VR4 won Pike's Peak after driving cross country, then back cross country the same day. John Hennessy then did it again.
@@dct124 Having owned both a DSM and a 3000GT, even though the 3000 is much heavier it handles much better stock for stock. Also on the highway, 120+ the DSM starts feeling squirrely, the 3000 stays glued you can set the cruise control to 100 and relax in a 3000gt, cant do that in a DSM.

Hell yeah!!!!! NEW ENGLAND DSM resprenesting!!!! Turbo Tony in the colt, straight up beast, Nick Stack with the Isuzu 4g63 truck. This is what the DSM shootout is all about, we don't need v8s we got the ALMIGHTY 4g63, lol. Glad to see 1320 videos resprenesting the mitsubishi community, that means a lot of us. We are cool bunch of guys and we build weird shit, lol. Hope to see 1320 videos next year at 2019 Shootout. Great video.

I love Jdm turbo cars. They leave so slow then once the boost kicks in they are like a bat out of hell.
Benjamin Burton white 3000 cuts 1.3x 60fts and has plenty of room to turn up the launch more. Red one also is 1.3’s to the 60. That’s not “leaving so slow”

Today at work, I changed all the powertrain oils on a pristine 11k mile 1995 3000GT VR-4 that drove beautifully. Stock, Yellow with dark grey wheels, brake pedal almost as firm as a Evo X, really nice. Then I get home tonight and watched this video. There is a reason I have a little 1320 Video logo in the corner of the rear window on all of my roadworthy cars. It's just to tell other car guys that I get it.

Hell yes. I always thought 3000GTs were attractive cars. It's cool seeing them with 4G63 swaps now. I'm a fan of the LS swapped one though.
Brennan McKissick 4Gswap is so easy now. Lot of performance per $! My LS swap was waaaay too much work.
Oh I don't doubt it was a lot of work haha. I'm just thinking more long term that the LS will last longer and be cheaper to run at those power levels and still be more drivable than an equivalent 4G63 swapped car. Either way, fantastic work man. Those builds are incredibly cool.

NEW VR4 3000 GT's, R/T Stealths, GS-X and GS-T eclipses, VR4 Galants , TSi Talons, Supras, Conquests, into the integra GSR's, civic Type-R', Impreza 2.5 RS,..etc.,..etc.,,...😍😍😍❤️❤️ at 16 years old I convinced somehow a local Mitsubishi dealer to let me test drive a NEW 1997 GS-T Eclipse ,..my first experience ever feeling a Turbo,..whole body pressing into the seat , feeling the blood rush of G force and falling in Love with JDM Turbo cars! I grew up In the 1980's-90's and these were ALL cars I drooled over and now watching them 20 years later and with still today epic power for even this day in age I LOVE IT!!!! I Love my Big displacement 7.0 liter 427 Lingenfelter c6-z06 but man, just clicking on this video had my heart racing and going back to the day! So happy so many are nuts about that era of JDM! Also can I say how cool it is with all the "LS swap the world" stuff,..
To see yes , an LS swapped 3000GT but also just as cool to see the reverse , throwing little liter big turbo power plants in muscle cars lol (that Mustang with the 2.0L running crazy times! So cool!All around it's just people LOvIN and building cars, whatver they are and it's an awesome era we love in! Hats off to the JDM throw backs that are also revolutionists! 👍👌

times have change from the good old days were you bought a jalopy get your hands dirty trying to make it go fast. many summer nights i spend it sitting on the drive way with the motor apart rushing to put it back together to go racing that same night. at 17 years old i knew to work on the holleys and put an engine together. today is put the turbo on a junk yard engine and the shit will hit 9s AMAZING!

I saw this car at import faceoff a few weeks ago, he didn't make any great passes there either.

Why swap ? The 6g are pretty decent motors. Also displacement is always nice . I'd go a 6g75 personally

I sprayed the whole way down the track to try to beat the red talon (Glassbrook) in the RWD finals and the engine let go around 1100ft. The engine diaper contained all the oil. The rod destroyed the block, head, oil pan, and everything else in it's way.
I'm putting the backup engine in it now to take it to IFO in NJ next weekend.

The best engine for this car is the one that EFF'IN came in it! In fact, it still holds the fastest 1/4 mile record if I'm not mistaken. 8 second car with a 6G.
