THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. Can we talk about how Ben technically may not be from Bellwood? This episode has 5 and a half year old Ben say that he and his parents just moved to Mr. Baumann's neighborhood, so he either may have moved from a different part of Bellwood or he's from a different city/state.

I think it's safe to assume they just upgraded homes in the same area.
I like the theory that Ben comes from a different city entirely, as it allows for so many dots to be connected and so SSSOOOOO much detective work can be done to find evidence to prove it. HOWEVER, I think it just makes more sense logically that he comes from a different part of Bellwood. I like this theory just for it's simplicity.
But I'm down to debate. Heck yeah!

While I'm not the biggest fan of this running gag, I do like a joke that it leads into in a future episode.

Ben: Thats totally different. For one I couldnt take off the omnitrix if I wanted and second Ben Tennyson doesn't go around wrecking stuff. *car tyre screech's*

I always imagined Toepick's powers were sort of psychic. It's not just that his face is scary, looking at his face forcibly activates and amplifies the fear response in your brain.
Someone brought up that Toepick’s face can imply that it’s an Eldritch being behind the locked up mask.
And it makes more sense than anything else.
Bringing back Toepick from an one-off mention in the OS future and making him the most revolting transformation was honestly a really great choice, too bad it doesn't hold much importance here and doesn't until we see him defeat Zombozo 3 seasons later

It's about the fact that Ben has far superior power and can easily give him a reason to be so terrified that he forgives Ben for all his destruction or even the fact that Ben has enough power in his arsenal to fix the damage, but Mr. B chooses to just stand there and yell at him. And let's just say he DOES tell Ben's mom, what is SHE gonna do? Ground him again? A lot of good that'll do if Ben can just fix the damage. He has the power, why not use it to fix his mistakes when he can?

Idk. Cabbage man has things be a lot more simple. ONLY his cabbage business gets destroyed. Ben, however, destroys EVERYTHING that Mr. B owns. Ben is the much bigger menace in my opinion.
I saw someone mention that the Cabbage Vendor joke is funny because of how infrequent it is, making it more rare makes it more funny. In comparison to Baumann and Pakmar which is twice per season.

Maybe because Ben’s birthday is in December and so close to Christmas he gets those sucked in and only gets one set of presents, then as a kid he thought to have a “second” birthday in the summer where he turns a half year older and gains the +1/2 logo each year because he’s a kid still and gets a “proper” birthday like all his friends in the summer

I also love his strong force of spit that's stronger than Adult Four Arms.
Its a shame they didn't use him at all as he'd fit in with the UAF & Omniverse Bens' selection of aliens.
This was a pretty entertaining episode for me. The gag of Ben wrecking Baumann's and Pakmar's shops can get old, but sometimes it can be funny. The Humongosaur scenes were top-notch.
Poor Mr. Baumann, he has been through hell by Ben to destroy everything of his.
For me, this was a good episode and very fun.
Dwarf Star plays a big part on the Arc of the Time War.
Darkstar appears but it was a cameo but does return in Gwen’s College.
Humungousaur is very good in this episode despite not growing tall anymore.
Not a fan of Toepick execution.
Good to Ben UAF in the flashback.
I saw someone else say that Exo-Skull was also there at the auction planning to buy the Dwarf Star for Maltruant. What do you think?

I did like Dwarf Star being used again later. Like how the Zeo crystal in Mighty Morphen Powers Rangers would return and set up Zeo.
I unironically love Toepick. He’s so gross yet oddly friend-shaped. He kinda reminds me of a mixture of Robot Monster, Shrek and Hades from God of War. Apparently, also his powers were based on an obscure cartoon called Mighty Man and Yukk the Dog so that’s kinda interesting. I do think his powers should’ve been based on eldritch horror rather than just pure ugliness.

İf there's anyting OV fails it's toepick, they really insisting on restrain some aliens's abilties, such as bloxx. With those powers he could've esaily go up aganist likes of vilgax, i think there's a a bit wasted potentail there, they could even esaily fix that by putting him aganist some filler villains like looma

Shucks that Ben only gets more experience with Clockwork later on; he would have been able to revert the damage he caused.
I like to imagine that the reason Ben isn’t rich is because all the money he would earn off heroics goes to reporting property damage. He’s probably still paying off the destruction of Bellwood from destroy all aliens
I loved this episode as it show how competent ben can be. He goes humungasaur and beat up like 10 villains he used to have trouble in the past with other aliens
That made me more frustrated when he wasted his time on them in future episodes, especially if the situation have serious consequences.
My headcanon for Toepick is that his face is non-euclidean, having an eldritch quality that induces fear and revulsion. A Doylist explanation of Ma Vreedle being immune would be to facilitate the running gag that she's just that nasty, where even the worst creatures in the galaxy don't compare. A Watsonian explanation would be that maybe Toepick's powers only effect people with a certain quality of mind that Ma lacks.
i.e. You can't make the already insane go mad.
I'm so glad they recycled the Negative Ten episode here well. Ben was great in this episode, the fight scenes were great, and Psyphon had his best moment of the franchise with the Dwarf Star. I give this episode 4 Stars.
Now, there was going to be a whole story arc of the negative ten of all the villains of Ben's transformations.

Ben at the end of the episode could have rewind time with clockwork and could have saved mr bowman's house and truck... Also used any of his smart alien to get him a better car, or just repair it.

I hate how Jury Rigg's _whole thing_ is being able to fix things, and yet that's never used to help Baumann or Pakmar
I like toepick showing up because it's never stated outright when ben 10k unlocked him. Plus, Ben's future has changed multiple times, possibly influencing when Ben unlocked toepick.
As for toepick himself, i was a big fan of his power at first. I loved the idea of his face revealing something horrifying like some sort of eldritch entity, or maybe it showed someone the moment of their death or something more edgy like that. But then it's just... being ugly.
Yeah, that does lean into what Kuro said about OV having chances to do emotional or interesting stuff and instead choosing jokes over it.
I mean, most of the fandom headcanons Toepick having some eldritch like powers or atleast some fear gas, so it's not that bad.

Idk why but i like this episode. Ben doing a delivery job, Psyphon just trying to run an auction and Toepick too. I just wish he was named on screen

My only problem/nitpick with this episode is that UAF Ben’s omnitrix plays the Omniverse omnitrix sound effect instead of the Alien Force omnitrix sound effect. And UAF Ben in the Omniverse art style is the best Ben Tennyson design, no contest.
This running gag is basically the same as the Peter bullying Meg gag in Family Guy where the more it happens the less we want it
I find the collection of villains at the auction super interesting. Of course Darkstar would want the star.
But the standout for me is Exo-Skull, his second appearance since Ben 10000. Before the time war. So it makes me wonder how much of it they had planned. Because last episode we had the war mentioned, as well as Maltruant. And here we have the Dwarf Star, one of the things Maltruant needed. So did he send Exo-Skull here in order to get the Dwarf Star? Most likely. Also makes sense, because why else would he be in the present day if Ben never fought him before. But I guess they demeed it a waste of time considering the whole golfish thing.
Oh, and also, for the people that didn't see it, Animo's bug from Secret Of The Omnitrix was at the auction, too. That's funny.
There's also one alien that kind looks like a Naljian with cybernetic arms and legs, what's its deal?
The funniest part about the auction was that one Kraaho who took Fistina, the muscular cyborg woman, on a date through the auction. He's a man of culture.

I think he DOES hate Ben, but he just chooses to tolerate his antics because so many other people in the town see him as a hero, and Ben DOES save people so maybe he's just cutting Ben a slight bit of slack. As far as the restraining order goes, I think courts would generally deny it because "What if Mr. B is in trouble from some dangerous alien, and Ben is the ONLY ONE who can save him? What now, Mr. B?" So he's taking the smart approach by not even trying. Save time, energy, and money.

3:42 One many reasons why I found Ben to be insufferable looking back at this as I get older.
This might sound petty, but there's one detail in this episode that bothered me greatly in this episode ever since it came out: Ampfibian being able to electrocute Seebik and the other Kraaho. In their debut episode, it was mentioned by them that they're made out of rubber, and in most fantasy rules, rubber does not conduct electricity. So the fact that that worked, bothered me greatly.
I know it's such an extremely small detail that is very unimportant, but I can't help being bothered by it
To me what makes this running Gag in bad taste is that it's not happening to just one but 2 Characters who happen to be store owners making the joke most the time feel lazy
all the same, I feel enormously sorry for poor Bowman, the scene where his house explodes is just sad and funny at the time, but in fact it's sad afterwards, I like the intro of toepick even if I prefer your explanation on his powers

The Waybig scene in this episode will never not be funny to me.

Fun Fact: According to Pop-up trivia Toepick can shoot acid from his fingers. Which is a more fitting power for his name. DJW (RIP) even confirmed he can do that, Ben just doesn't know it yet. And it's not like we haven't known about an alien's power that Ben never used. *Cough* Buzzshock *cough* same powers as Echo Echo *cough*
I honestly love Mr Bauman as a character especially when we find out that he actually deeply cares for Ben it’s fun to see their dynamic and I feel horrible for him sometimes. He acts like a grump but he’s a pretty dope dude
Didn't Ben and Mr Bowman have a good relationship in the UAF?
They did. Speculation is either this guy is the brother of the UAF guy, or Alien X shenanigans, or maybe it was something else entirely. But the UAF Mr. B and Ben definitely had a great friendship.
They did. But then again OV does that a lot with drastically changing characters with no explanation.
I like to think that UAF Baumann is the younger brother of OV Baumann, it makes sense cuz he likes Ben but his older bro dont, and sometimes this younger Baumann take care of the store for him while the older one visits Sheelane

Ben acting even more childish and immature than his 10-11 yr old self (Pushing buttons of Rook's truck, crying over a smoothie's flavor being different instead of his loved ones being erased, complaining about everything being "alien" when trying to get a juice when that device clearly isn't a juice box & pressing buttons & kicking the thing, laughing at Billy Billion's situation instead of being empathatic, and the whole "I wanna see a zombie" when he should hurry up & kill Maltruent instead of goofing off, etc)
Eon being a complete idiot and a full-on joke. Even the face and voice reflects that. From what I remember, he rarely has any moments of seriousness when you compare him to his 2 previous versions which were meant to convey him being a scary force that gives chills to the spine.
There could be more but Ben, Vilgax, and Eon are the biggest examples of drastically changing the characters. And for me, they changed them for the worst.
I do like Baumann's characters in OV but I still wish there was some consistency between his character in OV and UA.
I remember this ep having Dennis the Menace parallels, down to 5.5 year old Ben looking like Dennis
The truck shouldn’t count.. it was pacmars fault for driving off with a flaming vehicle and it was necessary to damage the truck to save his life… collateral damage is ok if it mandatory. Like when fire fighters need to break walls or use machines to open cars
I'm working on a crossover between Transformers Animated and Ben 10 Omniverse.
In the story, it was NOT Ben who destroyed Mr. Baumann and Pakmar's shops. The shops were destroyed by BumbleBee (albiet accidentally) during a battle with the Vengers and both Pakmar and Mr. Baumann blame Ben.
I mean, I guess it was cool that they were chronically accurate with big chills Omnitrix placement, but you didn’t mention that they forgot to change the Omnitrix sound. Even though this is 15 year old Ben with the recalibrated omnitrix, it’s still making the official omnitrix noises.
I did mention about Toepick before and he was one of the aliens mentioned in the Ken 10 episode of the classic Ben 10. I love Toepick's design and he has the same ability as Johnny Sorrow from DC Comics, Yuuk from Mighty Man & Yuuk, and Death from Marvel comics where they keep whatever horror lies behind their masks and the first person who sees it dies of fright or goes crazy. Yuuk wears a dog house to hide his hideous face but keeps forgetting not to take it off. That is not the last time I will be seeing our pal, Toepick though.
The reason Mr Baunmanns running gag is more sad than funny often is due to the fact it's missing what I call the trifecta of Daffy Duck. When you watch the constant running gags of Daffy, you don't feel bad for him because of three reasons.
1. Extreme Cartoon level of violence. When things are exaggerated sooo much, it's hard to take it seriously so you can allow yourself to not think there will be any actual long term consequences.
2. Daffy is often a jerk. Rude, insensitive, and a bully, it all lines up to be karma for him when things never go his way.
3. A balanced counterpart. Daffy has Bugs to play off of, mostly because Bugs is the lucky one you can root for more often than not. Ben doesn't work here because you don't want to root for him destroying Baunmanns' life, not helped by the fact Ben knows he is in the wrong, given he runs off in the end.
Counterpart: I've always rooted for Daffy, lmao.

Looking at Toepick again, he honestly looks like he could be an Ultimate the Worst, all the way down to how ATROCIOUS Toepick's face supposedly is

Plumbers should just cover their expenses anytime ben breaks or wrecks there property. Seeing as savings the world, universe and multiverse should give Ben something.
i still think the counter should only apply once per scene, like the first one with cannonbolt or ben in the china shop, but its funny how its already nearly half as much as other counters by now. overall, this episode feels like a sitcom obligation, slice of life exploring a recurring gag. i like your interpretation that little ben's 5 1/2 is how baumann remembers him, though its a cute gag on its own imo
Gotta say the gag of Ben accidentally wreaking Mr. Baaumanns and Pakmar's stores were funny at first, but the running gag got old quick throughout OV.
I dunno, I wouldn't count the vases separately. Ben broke them consecutively but pretty much in one motion

Ben breaks multiple things in a single fight, that counts as only 1 point. Ben leaves and does other stuff and comes back later in the episode and breaks stuff again, if the events weren't connected, then it's a separate instance and thus counts as a separate point.

I was confused as to the name origin of ToePic in-universe, until I saw that his helmet vaguely looks like a big toenail. Otherwise, his powerset doesn't really make him out to be as viscerally disgusting as his name and Kenny's reaction made him out to be.
I REALLY hate how Ben runs away from his problems. He has aliens to undo damages like Upgrade, Jury Rigg and Bloxx. Even Clockwork!!!

@@husariuspl117 I think that's kinda the point. You feel so annoyed at the gag itself that you end up feeling bad for Pakmar and Mr. B by default because they don't deserve it at all, let alone on a basis as regular as the show likes to dish it out.
I admit that my love of Dennis The Menace in all its media biased me towards the Baumann/Ben relationship, lots of nostalgia feels there. Destroying his entire house did seem extreme, though, maybe just half of it would have worked better?

Ben is really consistent with doing his hard work without his aliens when asked too, I think even Gwen still tries to skip work using her powers way back in UA, but Ben when he says he will do thw work without aliens he really fucking meant it (un verdadero chambeador)
I love 11 year old Ben casually using Way Big, it's a nice reminder that he does have him in his roster and this is Post-OS Young Ben, wish he used his anur aliens and Arctiguana in the series proper but what ya gonna do.
Humungousaur wrecking the villains shit will never not be one of my favourite scenes, he's one Dinosaur army and there's a reason Ben goes Humongosaurio hasta la muerte.
I don't see what's so bad about Ben getting Toepick, he would have to get them at one point and it's nice to see them in action, also the "Each era of Ben have their own set of aliens to use" falls flat when the Older Ben hws everything the previous one had and then some.

I disagree cause I love toepick. The helmet opening and the sound design made me instantly fall in love with him. Also Ben utilizing a less combative alien to beat siphon bc he became too much of a problem head on is a big win writing wise in my book.
I don't think the side character issue is an OV exclusive thing. UAF and OS had this problem too of a lot of side characters not standing out and not elevating the episodes they showed up in, and usually if people remember them its not because of anything they personally did, but usually some minor lore thing connected to them that fans latched onto and ran with or because of some outside thing like who they're voice by. If anything the more highly gimmicked OV side cast stand out more to me, at lest I always remember Fisttrick, or Hobble, or Thunderpig, or the Alien that's just Krang's robot body if it was organic. They're gimmicks can be a bit much sometimes, but I wouldn't say they blend together. But I see where you're coming from.

I disagree with the four instances of Bauman's in the first episode, because the counter isn't "how many times does Ben break something?" because all of those instances happen in the same scene, it's all one instance of Bauman's store being destroyed.
A simple change to the end of the ep have the car miss Bowmans house and make it be that it just misses his car that then falls into the hole made but only scratches it not destroying it
or it hits bens house lol

Still a really fun episode seeing all of Ben 10 characters appearing and just enjoyed the animation mostly

Toepick was pointless as he was used 4 times 3 of those times he was last and 1 because of the Big Bang. But I wonder if Ben used Toepick to beat Malgax without Skurd I wonder if he was the one right alien to use. Good to see a lot of returns from previous villains and new villains.

I'm okay with aliens like Toepick and Buzzshock being unlocked by a teenage Ben and not being exclusively Ben 10,000 forms. 11 year old Ben having Arctiguana feels weird to me because the idea of OS Ben unlocking one of Ben 10,000's aliens only 1 year after meeting him felt like a stretch. Since Ben at this point has a decent 6 year gap from OS Ben and has gone through a recalibrated Omnitrix and 2 new Omnimatrix devices, I feel like enough time and circumstances have passed for this to feel like a natural thing to happen. However, I do think it would've been more satisfying if Arctiguana, Toepick, and Buzzshock were unlocked by an adult Ben. Like 18-20 years old

I can see other powers of Toepick is nightmare scars, that just seeing his face will leave the opponent with truamatic visions of their nightmares, being Ogre based his roars can whimper even the mightest foes into submission, fog illusion the mist that comes from his helmet causes hallucinations, and that my own head canon is that all members of Toepicks species
Gorgus Farleigh's(a pun on the masculine version to greek gorgon/hedious), and Chris Farley the original voice actor of Shrek before Micheal Myers. From the planet of Loucrafft(H.P.Lovecraft) his species are fine with each others looks and fine themselves highly attractive by just sheer repulsiveness(similar to how Ogres in shrek are crude because thats their way of tough love), and the Anur aliens don't like humans for looking normal. But the plumbers make them by intergalactic law wear those chamber helmets to prevent widespread chaos in the galaxy. As for their personality though Toepick has slight hints to this, their easy going and let their looks do the work for them, and are generally very friendly once you get past their nightmare fog, any other race mentions their appearance bothers them, but other Gorgus Farleighs its a love language. Would've given him eating powers to eat anything poisonous, or wretched in large amounts, but we already have two eaters in bens roster (Upchuck/Eatle). And just like Terraspin species I would have it were Toepicks race are immune to mana, hence the whole witch/ogre rivalry that started in shrek 4.

Another simple change but for Toe Pick make it be that he has an uncontrollable psychic power that if you see his face you see your greatest fear to get the same effect, but his race arnt spasificaly super ugly just no one really nows due to there power
Wouldn't the whole incident in the last episode where 11 Yr old Ben used Armadrillo to get a pipe that ended up flooding Pakmar's store count for the Out of Business counter as well?
