This specific car is a BMW E46 and it has problems wiht the rear end. My rear end is clunking and whining. My e46 Differential makes clunking noises. I fixed it and filmed the whole process and got rid of my differential problems.

Bro, I watch the 50's kid. Hes the truth at e46 work. I swear your video is soo much easier and gets shit out the way. I thought about your exact version after I did a transmission swap and had my exhaust dropped. Just seemed easier than fighting for angles and bolts between everything. Im doing mine tonight. 3.46. Please make sure you have a second person or a transmission jack to lift the diff in and out ;) It's heavy^^ I almost dropped it, bc it didn't want to come out...

Thanks :) When I did it for the first time, it took about 5 to 6 hours. When I knew, what I was doing, it took me right about 3 hours.

You had a noise from the diff that was internal? I am trying to find the clunk in my e46 when I shift gears.

If the bushings are worn, they may allow some contact between metal parts, creating the clunk. While power is on or off, the bushings support the trans just fine. It's when it moves that you hear/feel the clunk.

In my case the rear bushing for the diff has a massive crack and it's everytime I shift gear, let go of the clutch or just get on/off gas that I hear a very noticable clunk
